“I recommend nothing after seeing how terribly they treated a customer this afternoon at the medford sq location. guy came in to pickup pre-ordered cake that was paid for. he was told they didn't have the cake. no apology, no offer deliver cake in the morning.....NOTHING. THE customer finally asked for the only 2 cakes left which were much smaller than cake ordered. he wanted happy birthday written on the cakes and was told it couldn't be done....not sure why. 30 minutes before closing time. the beaten down guy said...I'll take those 2 cakes in replace of the cake I ordered that you failed to make. I was literally floored when the kid behind counter said ...we can't just give you those cakes. you have to pay for them. this could have been handled so many ways better. and again, not one we are sorry. none of the stuff here is anything great...the guy should have went and got a cake at the grocery store. when businesses mistreat and disrespect their customers that's it for me. modern pastry is a small business....I've seen customers treated much better at wal.art and Costco. shame on modern pastry“

“I've done take out from this place a few times now through a catering app for my job and this place never fails. Despite the large orders it gets, my food has always come on time and with great flavor. I'm not adventurous when it comes to sushi, rather I'm very basic. I have ordered the lunch combo with the crispy onion roll, crunchy shrimp roll, and shrimp dumplings and I've also tried the spicy shrimp tempura and edamame. My favorite has been the onion roll because of the crispy onions on top that provide so much flavor and the crunchy and fresh cucumber. The shrimp in my sushi has always been crispy and the rice is sticky, not hard. The only disappointment has been that the spicy shrimp tempura roll is not spicy but you can fix that with some sriracha. The edamame has a fresh taste.“

“I went here with a friend and the experience was pretty good! We were originally trying to find a café to eat at, but most of the spots were full with lines outside! So, we ended up here. It is a very narrow café with some small tables to the left and stools with long table thing on the right. The atmosphere was very cozy, though I wished there was jazz music playing in the background.We ordered the BALT and roasted chicken sandwich (the grilled one). My friend said their sandwich was good! Mines was also good, BUT a bit difficult to eat. It was kind of a monster of a sandwich to finish, though delicious. The sandwich was a bit more charred than my liking, but the charr adds flavor…I think… It was pretty cool to see the sandwiches served in baskets! I haven’t seen anything like it!For dessert my friend got the eclair and I got the apple caramel bread pudding. My friend said the eclair was good, but wished it was less firm/hard. The bread pudding was pretty good! It’s not too sweet (which I like). But, it didn’t pair too well with my chicken sandwich. “Enjoyed eating lunch here with friends while visiting. I noticed immediately that the space is smaller, which makes it a pretty tight walk around. Even with a lot of customers the noise level was not to loud. I was disappointed when there was a set of 8 of us and they said we needed to sit at different booths. Eventually we asked if we could move to the side with a booth/table combo so we could all sit together. The waiter was not so happy. The food then was divided by the two tables (not pushed together) and then brought out at very different times. When half of the table had their pizza the other half didn't. Once they had finished then we received ours. The menu was pretty confusing due to the lack of explanation of what they all offer. It does give the description but it doesn't adequately show what they serve as specials or explain it. Turns out after we ordered we found their "march madness" wall that had all the pizzas we could order but would have had no idea what was on each one. The pizza it self was very good. It was not over done and a well rounded pizza. I think it's something I'd eat once but not say it's a "must have" again since IM NOT a huge pizza person.“

The menu is eclectic and offers very Great fare (too much to list, just glance over their online menu). “I've gone to Libertine a few times now, and overall I enjoy it. The food was safe, I got the veal Milanese and it's exactly what you'd expect, and that's exactly what I wanted - cooked properly, subtly cheesy; right amount of greens. I recommend the pistachio martini if you're into drinks, their bar does standard cocktails well, but the pistachio martini just hit differently. Price wasn't *terrible* ($70 a head for a North End dinner with drinks, can't exactly fight that). I appreciated the waiter telling us gratuity was included because we were a large party, some places just don't give you that warning.I think my only gripe for the evening was a situation with the bathroom. I was waiting for the restroom and another patron got impatient and went into an area marked "employees only" without reading the sign. The people who I think were the owners came down to the bathroom area three separate times to confront him, and while I agree he was dumb for essentially trespassing, I think it became a bit too much of a spectacle for the evening - no great way to handle it, but it was kind of painful to watch and I was worried for my friend who couldn't get up the stairs because of the confrontation.“
