“The atmosphere here is lacking but the food more than makes up for it. The food is prepared by Winnipeg’s only fully qualified Japanese trained chef. Try it out and you will know exactly what I mean. Chef Masa above and beyond to bring authentic Japanese food to all of “
“Went there for Valentine's day. The food was delicious, and the staff very friendly. The premium rolls and sashimi aren't super cheap (though not at all outrageous), but the standard rolls are very affordable and also delicious. So you can eat per your budget, which is very nice. Highly recommend this place.“
“Sushi was delicious!! Staff is lovely, and our server Bobby was the sweetest!! The fish in the sushi tasted fresher than any other winnipeg sushi spots i’ve had. Bobby even gave me a handful of extra candy at the end when I said it was my favourite! We also got a roll on the house, honestly couldn’t have been better service. We will be back!! Thanks again to Bobby ? ?!!“
“I've always had Sushi but never really had restaurant style sushi and it was so good. The atmosphere was good, music was good and the price was not bad at all.We also had Stir fried beef and vegetables and Salmon. They were served with a bowl of rice, each. These were absolutely awesome. If I ever feel like having sushi again, I'll know where to go.“
“What a gem of a restaurant we discovered by fluke on our way to the airport. We had a short turn-around time before our flight out and Yujiro staff made it happen. The quality of offerings is fantastic and servers were wonderful. We look forward to spending a nice evening here the next time we’re in town.“
“Ordered from here for the first time tonight. Ordered takeout. Staff was very friendly and welcoming, nice little sushi nook in Charleswood. Sushi was good, and fresh tasting. Edamame wasn’t salted enough for me lol. A touch on the expensive side, but will be back. Yum.“
“AMAZING SUSHI! The building itself looks extremely sketchy from the outside, so I was a little skeptical when trying the sushi. But, WOW! What amazing sushi! My husband and I enjoyed their sushi so much that we ended up getting it again the following day. 100% Recommend.“
“This is a good spot for togo orders, I did dine in but if the future it will be pick up. The restaurant is small and very popular for togo orders. While I sat there and enjoyed the food. There were so many pickups.Dine in is a little lame, you fill in your own order ticket and they make and bring to you. The seating area is small only 8 seats total and no bathrooms for customers.“
“I have never eaten inside this restaurant, only ordered out twice. The first time was mediocre but after this second time I might consider continuing to try them!I ordered the Tokyo Night roll which was very tasty, I am impressed! I also ordered some California rolls with it and I swear that everything was better than last time, quite good! I spent about $30 total after tax and that was one special roll and two basic (Cali). The service was great, very courteous and polite, things were done timely and efficiently. I'll be going back again!Parking: Parking is either in front on Portage Avenue or the side street (Daer) on the west side at least. There's a no parking sign and fire hydrant on the east side of Daer.Wheelchair accessibility: Ground-level, no ramps or stairs to worry about, unsure if there is a push-button for the door, didn't notice. Door was easy to open and just one to use.“
“My favorite sushi place in the city.I have got take out from here many many times and have never been disappointed.Fresh tasting ingredients, expertly prepared and never had an incorrect order yetAnytime I eat at another sushi joint I always think I should have got kai.Must try“
“The owner have just changed a week ago and the place is nothing but a surprise. The quality and the quantity you get out of this store is amazing, with the money you are paying. The chef has 10 years experience and the quality is guaranteed! because of this, there are almost no waiting time. Store is also very clean and great for some quite and quality times. I strongly recommend this place for anyone who's out there looking at this!“
“Just ordered a pretty huge order on SkipTheDishes and the food was absolutely awesome! I could taste the freshness and the flavors were on point! Not to mention the food was packaged perfectly and I was able to get it to my hungry team quickly. Would definitely order from them again!“
“Great little place. Had to wait a short amount of time to get a table since they were busy. They seem a little understaffed for how busy it was but definitely did an amazing job serving us and making sure we were enjoying our time and the meal. The portions were great. At first, it seems a little pricy compared to elsewhere, but after ordering the chirashi and seeing the huge pieces of sashimi that were on top, it all made sense. TWO-BITE size pieces, multiple pieces of multiple types of fish. And they all tasted amazing. My only disappointment was that there was not a cocktail menu. I would have loved a fresh fruity or sparkly cocktail to go with the meal. Hands down best miso soup I've had. No doubt, we will be returning again soon. (Picture is some of what we ordered)“
“Still one of Winnipeg's top choices for Sushi. Nestled in the heart of the exchange district Bluefish never disappoints. We enjoyed a set menu of dinner for two (should be for two days) that included their signature flaming scallops. Generous portions, professional service and great food!“
“Whenever I'm in this area of town, I always make sure to pickup sushi from this wonderful hidden gem, run by the sweetest couple. <3 Must be an incredible amount of work for only a two person team. It's not a fancy/high end sushi spot, the ingredients are simple, but when you have a craving and don't want to break the bank, and still want your fish fresh and decent sized rolls, then this is the place for you! The sashimi is excellent, and I love that they have Tuna Belly as an option. The nigiri is delicious as well, but my fave is the BBQ River Eel. Fave rolls include the Kamikaze roll, Vegetarian Caterpillar roll, Mango Prawn Roll, Tiger roll (I pay extra and get REAL crab instead) and River No Return roll. I love that you get the option to use real crab in your roll instead of the imitation crab. Makes such a difference when it comes to flavour.... it's worth the up-charge; just remember to ask for it.I still need to try the Spider roll, the cooked octopus nigiri and squid nigiri. I'm sure they'd nail those as well!“
“Went here a few weeks ago on a 'treat yourself' kinda day. Food was great, ordered some takoyaki and pork katsu curry rice which is enough to fill you up the rest of the day. Staff are friendly, atmosphere is where it's lacking. But overall, love it.“
“The atmosphere is homey, and relaxing. I don't feel the need to rush when I'm eating, as I usually do in public restaurant settings. The food was very flavorful, I could taste the wasabi and the sushi ginger very well with the Alaska rolls I ordered. The lady attendant who served me was super nice, and the cook prepared my sushi in a timely manner and I didn't need to wait longer than 10 minutes. They provided me with ice chilled water too, which was very helpful and I felt well taken care of. I hope to return, as their prices for the quality and service is very worth it.Parking: Parking is located right at the storefront, the businesses in the parking lot aren't exactly strict about who parks where.“
“It is one of the best Sushi restaurants in our city.Whenever we go to the restaurant they do not disappoint. The seafood is fresh and vegetables as well. The rolls are always excellent. Presentation is lovely and staff are friendly. The menu has a good variety of options.Well worth the visit. Pricing is fair.“
“Great place! Went there to celebrate my birthday. Friendly staff, good food. We ordered extreme volcano roll and tempura and sushi combo. We were so full that we took some food home. Japanese beer is tasty. You are also getting a nice view on a new beautiful building - The Zü. Will definitely come back!“
“its not the fanciest place in the world but its the warmest atmosphere with the nicest staff and the most delicious food. i go here all the time, im obsessed with their salmon poke bowl, and have brought everyone in my life here and put them onto their sushi too. also try their takoyakiVegetarian options: yes! they have a whole section for meatless options, i love the yam tempura roll! i have tried others but the names dont come to mind as fast!Dietary restrictions: they mostly have rice dishes (it is mostly a sushi restaurant) but they have a delicious miso soup, vegetarian options (i love the yam tempura roll) and im sure someone on any diet could eat something from sushi gozenParking: because it is located within st vital mall near london drugs there is plenty parking close to the doorsKid-friendliness: i have seen kids in the restaurant at the same time as myself, it seems very child-friendlyWheelchair accessibility: there is no steps, and all tables are on the floor, so i don’t see it not being accessible. the only thing is some points of getting to the back of the restaurant are kind of narrow, but its only if its packed and people are sitting at every table, they have very large accessible bathrooms as well!“
“Had sushi for lunch. The staff are always so nice and polite. Everything was great, except I didn't have enough soy sauce for my last three pieces when I got the two roll/box special. Not sure if that means I ask for two... But maybe I use too much ?... Either way, I'll be back!“
“Phenomenal daily lunch special with the best value (under $20). You can tell the rolls and food is done with patience and care. ALWAYS consistent too - rice is perfect!Vegetarian options: Shiitake mushroom roll is exceptional with lots of filling!“
“The food here was great! If you want bbq, sushi, sashimi and other dishes, this is a great place! My son has a lot of allergies and they were able to accommodate and make him a great noodle stir-fry!Dietary restrictions: So accommodatingKid-friendliness: They were so great and were so nice with my 5 year old“
“Ordered a bunch of sushi for a group get together. Everything was tasty and fresh. They even threw in a large complimentary order of spring rolls. Thanks! We ordered in advance and it was pretty much ready on time, we waited a few minutes for it to get all bagged up (quite a large order).Staff were friendly. We did take out. The restaurant itself was simple and fairly basic, but was cozy enough looking and clean.“
“Their sushi is by far the best of the best in Winnipeg! Miso soup was little bit off but all sushi we ordered were fresh and perfectly seasoned. The mushroom miso paste on the sushi was a big hit.The server is friendly as well. A bit pricy but definitely worth it.“
“Make sure to order one of their special or torches roll whenever u r there. So yummy ??Also, their hot level was actually not that spicy, even the spiciest is just some kick. So I think everyone can enjoy their rolls. And yes, I have low tolerance for spice as well“
“This is the second time I've been here. Despite the unassuming facade of the building the food here is quite good. I've had both the spicy miso ramen, and chicken karaage ramen. They were both extremely tasty! The sushi in my experience has also been very tasty. My personal favorite is their sumo roll (deep fried California roll). Definitely one of Winnipeg's best places to go for sushi or ramen. I would highly recommend giving it a shot“
“Staff were lovely and welcoming but didn't hover and we never felt like we were being upsold or pushed around.Food came out as it was fresh which was fun, and it was all delicious. Calimari tempura especially was amazing (even though we couldn't finish it and still have room for everything else!) so firm and bouncy and perfectly battered. We liked the croquettes and the deep fried rolls best, but the star of the day was the yakisoba. I have so little faith in any chef cooking chicken, and was so excited to be proven soundly wrong by this one.We didn't see a drinks menu, and none of us felt brave enough to ask if they had any teas, but that didn't detract at all. The water was clean and refills came at a good pace. Will most definitely be back.“
“It was the first time ordering and having Sushi for me. As a Middle-Eastern, I am usually used to too much using spices, maybe that's why I am expecting more deliciousness for this food. However, I must sya that for my first time, your Sushi was great and very nicely served and decorated. I have no idea about the tastes of Sushis, if there are more delicious ones with more spices or greater taste, please let me know. But great job for your nice food and I will recommend your Sushi to my friends.“
“The service was friendly and the food was fast, tasty and fairly priced. Sit down service was excellent and included free soup, salad and a little dessert. The restaurant is a little small and has aggressive lighting but has cute decor. Great place for a sushi date.“
“I was put off a little by some of the negative reviews about the lack of flavour ramen, but I'm glad I finally made it here to try. The ramen was amazing and I was very satisfied. Don't listen to some of the negative comments! The ramen is delicious and flavourful ? The service was also great, or server was very sweet and provided good recommendations.“
“ABSOLUTELY THEE BEST!! I just moved down the street and OMG! I love this little hole in the wall place. You almost miss it if you're not paying attention.Once inside it is painted black which gives a very nice ambiance. I wish the table and chairs were set up (prior to covid and hopefully after) as it is a very nice place to sit and have a quick lunch break. Not to mention the prices are perfect!THANK YOU WATTA SUSHI EMPLOYEES! SEE YOU SOON! ?“
“This is my go to for sushi. I have been to many sushi places around the city and I've tried sushi gozen a cpl tines as it is in the same mall but hands down this is my favourite place. The staff is incredibly friendly the quality of the food is very high, and they put a lot of effort into making sure that everything is done really well. Highly recommend going here I often take my daughter and we always need to substitute something and they are completely willing to do so. I implore you to give them a chance and please tip them well they deserve it . 6 out of 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Kid-friendliness: They are always super friendly and treat their customers well.Wheelchair accessibility: Its in a mall.“
“Such unique and yummy sushi! Red Dragon roll was mouth watering! New Hampshire roll was such a unique roll! Who would have thought to put bacon in sushi would taste so amazing! Can't wait to go again! So worth the digestion problems from eating gluten!Dietary restrictions: There are symbols on the menu to denote gluten free, can have GF substitute. No symbol, not GF. Very easy to read.“
“high quality sushi for a takeout place, even better than some sushi restaurants. very generous cuts of fish, good ratio with rice. great presentation and kind staff. highly recommend. its alittle more expensive but the quality is there and definitely worth your money.“
“Take Sushi has always been my favorite take out spot for sushi. Their sushi are just so fresh and delicious. The seafood just melts in your mouth. I especially like their shrimp sushi they are the best. Tempura crumbs also add a layer of crunchiness to all kinds of sushi. Salmon, scallop, shrimps, tuna, you just can't be wrong with any of those. Also, their combos are great to like the salmon mania. If you don't feel like choosing what to have that's you go. The prices are reasonable and not far fetched. Definitely if you want to enjoy sushi at home. This is it.“
“This is a great place to have sushi and at reasonable pricing. The service is great, food is tasty but the location is a little tired and needs an upgrade. It can get cramped up there. I have done sit in and take out and quality is the same. Always courteous and respectful. Will be back. This is a tiny little place and gets busy during peak lunch/dinner times. Noticed that the prices have gone up a bit, but the food is still tasty. The wait staff are always friendly.“
“The food is good. Took forever for the sashimi to come out, we thought service would be a bit faster as there were only 2 of us couples eating inside the restaurant.. It nearly took an hour to get our sashimi, so by the time it came out, we felt like we were full. I'm not sure if we would do the all you can eat menu again, overall rating everyone who was working inside was very nice.“
“The sushi is good. My partner is vegan and was very impressed by the selection of options available to her. They also offer gluten free soya sauce. There seems to be lots of takeout happening so it can feel crowded if you sit near the doors. Service was a little slow but not a big deal.“
“Sushi was amazing. They plated it so nicely with a message using sauce. Service was amazing. They gave us delicious mango green tea on the house. They do not have very good ventilation in the restaurant so you come out smelling fried which doesn't bother us if we go home right away. We would definitely come again!“
“This is the best sushi in Winnipeg. we stumbled upon this gem about a month ago and were amazed by how delicious and reasonably priced it is. Our second visit today was even better! Absolutely everything we've sampled is delicious; from the sushi pizza, the beef tataki, the rolls, the miso.. and the Sapporo frozen beer... 5☆. On top of fabulous food is the service! A+! I can not recommend this restaurant enough. If we lived closer we would probably be in at least twice a week!“
“Been going here for the last ten years as much as i can . Expensive but worth every penny . Every item is top notch , we enjoy the spicy mango prawns , calamari , and of course my fav WINNIPEG LETS GO JETS ROLL . Thanks boys and girls for a great “
“Came in late in the evening.Did not have all ingredients at the time, so assuming due to the late arrival, plus economic recession. However the food choices and presentation was devine. The atmosphere was relaxing and sets the mood. Our server was pleasant, humble, and informative. It's a pleasant place to go to.“
“Got a build your own burrito with my boyfriend and it was so delicious. All the ingredients are super fresh and the burritos are a really nice size. Very chill inside and friendly workers ((:Vegetarian options: Great variety of vegan/veggie options for bowls and burritos. Made it really easy and delicious to order and eat here as vegans.“
“I dare say that the buffet here is probably the best Japanese buffet in Winnipeg. The dishes are diverse and each item has its own characteristics. The service is also attentive. The only drawback is that there are too many people. It is full every day, which makes the restaurant atmosphere too noisy, but this just proves how popular it is.“
“We ordered for the first time last night, and omg we weren't expecting that level of delish. We had edamame, croquettes, beef teriyaki bowl and beef crazy roll. Everything was incredible. We're officially breaking up with our usual sushi joint and straight up proposing marriage with Magic Sushi.“
“My first time, although a good friend dines here often and my wife has also been here several times. Service was good, once they realized we were seated (comped us the first round of drinks for having to wait). Tried basic salt and pepper wings, nothing wrong, but not quite as good as Earl's. Had their sirloin steak. I often don't order a sirloin because about half of them from any restaurant, Keg, Earls, here, anywhere, are not great cuts. This one was came out round. It was perfectly cooked, but about 1/3-1/2 was gristle. I would not order it again. My wife's meal was excellent and I would go back for sure, but I would try anything but the steak.“
“One of my favourite restaurants in Winnipeg. My partner and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary over the weekend at wasabi. We had a reservation and we were seated fairly quickly. The dining room and lounge have a very comforting modern feel. You can even sit at the sushi bar and watch the chefs do their magic! Once we arrived to our table, we went over the menu and ordered some of our favourites as well as some of the servers recommendations. We ordered the honey plum tuna, salmon carpaccio, truffle broccoli, mango prawns, as well as a couple sushi rolls. The plates are smaller portions. “Tapas like” Our plates arrived one after another. From the presentation to the flavours of each plate. Everything was superb. The honey plum tuna was the star for me. The tuna melted in your mouth and the sauce underneath accompanied the tuna perfectly. The two sushi rolls we ordered (crazy 88 and dynamite) were very fresh and tasty. Overall, the experience was great. The food is on the $$$$ pricer side, but the quality, service and ambiance is worth it! We look forward to coming back soon!“
“I wandered in with a few friends for dinner and we get to snag a table. It wasn't busy by that time. We we're greeted respectively and we get enough time to place our order and the food came in fresh and they did not disappoint us. Went back for lunch but I have noticed the inconsistency of food tasted. Parking was ordeal.“
“Ichiban is a great experience for a large group of friends that want to eat good food while having fun! The atmosphere of the restaurant was exciting and electrically charged, but it's the service that made the experience truly stand out. Chef Roger was a wonderful host that kept us thoroughly entertained throughout the night! Many thanks to the server Kathy as well!“
