“The bistro has a menu that is clearly created with love for food and great knowledge of the Metis culture. The owner is a creative genius when it comes time to some of the unique combinations he has created to put on the menu. What I appeared most about the bistro experience, is the care that goes into sourcing every ingredient made to cook the quality food they offer. Your meals are not throwing together with margarine, or low quality butter. Give me are not purchased from superstore. The owners have taken time to locally source everything they can. From flour to fish, to bison and so on. This bistro is very evidently built and ran with the love and pride they take in their Metis roots. Apart from the quality and taste of the food and the owner go to make sure the guests have a quality experience, they give back to our youth. The owners took a chance and hired my 14 year old son to joint their team. Being a small business and taking a risk on hiring somebody so young was really something special. When my son was wanting to get a part-time job, we knew how challenging it would be for him being 14, and to enter the workforce. Most people wouldn’t want to give someone that young a chance. Especially with the role he was hired for. If he was the type of young man that didn’t show up to work, or didn’t keep his commitments, it would cause a lot of stress on the restaurant as a whole. And the fact that Dean and his wife took a chance and believed in my son… The bistro, and the owners will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s one thing to provide quality food, and to provide a great restaurant experience, but it’s another thing to be a good person behind the scenes. My son has learned so much not only about food, cooking and what it is to be an employee, but Dean has taught my son so much about our Metis culture, our roots our food and our traditions. everyone child check out APTN to see some of the amazing work Dean and his crew at the bistro did with our youth this past summer. “Eadha bakery worker co-op is a wonderful big shop located at 577 Ellice avenue in the West End only a few steps from the University of Winnipeg main campus. This is an awesome place to go to for fresh baked goods, including scones, pizza, twists, cookies, and all other baked delicacies. The staff was extremely pleasant and friendly. Service was excellent and the pricing was fair. Great place overall. Awesome vibe. There’s free parking in the back. I highly recommend.“

“I had the pleasure of running across this quaint little ice cream shop, with a large selection of very tasty ice cream. It was the day we celebrated Pinawa Birthday. I wanted ice cream and later went back for coffee. Our party of three each ordered a different flavour and were delighted in taste testing each others. The ice cream was so good. We had to wait our turn in the line up but it was so worth it. I went by later for coffee and discovered they were supposed to be closed an hour before that but the happy customers kept coming so she made us our lattes. There was a group of Police man after us and Julia happily served them after us. I loved the ice cream, I loved the passionate and friendly service and the lattes were very tasty. It’s nice to see a small town business being run with such care, compassion to stay over time and such a tasty selection. If you haven’t tried it yet… GO. I will be back. 😊😊😊“

“We went there as a group last night. The place is beautiful and part of a historic landmark. The food was the best I’ve had in a very long time. I ordered the tnt shrimp and Dan Dan bowl with shrimp. It was insanely good. My friend is vegan and she had a huge menu to choose from. The drinks are beautiful and very good. I ordered the peach drink (it’s some sort of play on words name) and it was super good. As well as the green tea drink also good. My friend ordered the espresso martini flight. She didn’t like the red velvet one but the others were great. The service was kind of slow but I feel like there wasn’t enough staff on. The server was friendly and good at her job. Just probably too many tables for the servers they had. I highly recommend this place especially if you require reservations. We got in the week of for a table of 8. Thank you. I loved it all!!!“

“Ate there last night for the first time. I had the gluten free beef enchiladas (I have celiac disease) and they were delicious!! Everyone enjoyed their meals. The owner gave me a brief history of his journey in Winnipeg in providing gluten free products (although he does not have celiac disease, nor does he have allergies or gluten intolerance). He does not up charge for gf meals and doesn’t believe in penalizing those who can’t eat gluten because of a medical condition. So refreshing to hear!!!! A small, quaint family restaurant with all the Mexican vibes. Will definitely be back!“

Got there early so they asked if I was parked behind the building, they said wait in the car and they'd bring it out to me. The pizza was delicious, brought back alot of old memories of when we used to pick up from the original store with Tony himself making the pies.

I recently went gluten, dairy and soy free, I ordered a mixed berry pie, chicken pot pie, sourdough cinnamon buns, oatmeal raisin cookies, sourdough bread and sourdough hamburger buns.. the cookies.. to die for, the sourdough bread.. it’s killing me how delish it is.. and everything else looks so yummy I’m trying hard to space it out so I don’t put myself in a food coma. “Sat outdoors on this very hot day. My group had a wonderful time. I had their Burger Jardin. I loved it. Always enjoy trying different veggie burgers but this one was different and soooo good. The patty was chickpea-based and tasted like a falafel burger. The burger was well dressed with delicious condiments. The sides were awesome home roasted home fries and great creamy coleslaw. The highlight though was an awesome server by the lovely name of Patience, She is bright, witty, perfectly discrete in her timing while waiting on us. Seriously, we will ask to be seated at one of her tables next time. Patience is an asset to Stella’s au CCFM.“

“Chicken was pounded out, breaded and deep fried. - Excellent! Light batter. Same chicken for both the garlic or the spicy combo. Sauce is basically sweet and sour. The spicy is the same sweet sauce with chili flakes.
You get some shred cabbage with some carrot. Rice is just with a touch of soy sauce. Nothing special. Just rounds out the necessary carbs for a full meal. Clear broth soup with wontons. Wontons were meaty too.

Food was made fast. It's a hole-in- the-wall by Tec-Voc. Decent seating. Old school furniture, decor and out dated. But who cares? People are willing to wait to get it. $10 + soup for lunch combo, where else can you find this in the city? It'll fill your dirty Chinese food craving. Recommend for lunch. Definitely return.“

The event was flawlessly organized and orchestrated by the Hy's team, the food was next level even by Hy's standards and the service exceeded anything we have experienced anywhere in North America even in the finest hotels. Bryant Olender added a classic background with piano and vocal stylings that perfectly suited the atmosphere. It was certainly the best evening we have at Hy's over the last decade, and I don't think I'm overstating it to say it was a "Once in a Lifetime" experience.
