“The bistro has a menu that is clearly created with love for food and great knowledge of the Metis culture. The owner is a creative genius when it comes time to some of the unique combinations he has created to put on the menu. What I appeared most about the bistro experience, is the care that goes into sourcing every ingredient made to cook the quality food they offer. Your meals are not throwing together with margarine, or low quality butter. Give me are not purchased from superstore. The owners have taken time to locally source everything they can. From flour to fish, to bison and so on. This bistro is very evidently built and ran with the love and pride they take in their Metis roots. Apart from the quality and taste of the food and the owner go to make sure the guests have a quality experience, they give back to our youth. The owners took a chance and hired my 14 year old son to joint their team. Being a small business and taking a risk on hiring somebody so young was really something special. When my son was wanting to get a part-time job, we knew how challenging it would be for him being 14, and to enter the workforce. Most people wouldn’t want to give someone that young a chance. Especially with the role he was hired for. If he was the type of young man that didn’t show up to work, or didn’t keep his commitments, it would cause a lot of stress on the restaurant as a whole. And the fact that Dean and his wife took a chance and believed in my son… The bistro, and the owners will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s one thing to provide quality food, and to provide a great restaurant experience, but it’s another thing to be a good person behind the scenes. My son has learned so much not only about food, cooking and what it is to be an employee, but Dean has taught my son so much about our Metis culture, our roots our food and our traditions. everyone child check out APTN to see some of the amazing work Dean and his crew at the bistro did with our youth this past summer. There is no AC at the facility; open kitchen concept and somewhat unorganized but that is what gives it a rustic old school touch. The sad part is that they stopped using the best wheat (Manitoban) in the world due to specific circumstances.

Their scones are great as are their breads and the viennoiseries are never too sweet.

“I had the pleasure of running across this quaint little ice cream shop, with a large selection of very tasty ice cream. It was the day we celebrated Pinawa Birthday. I wanted ice cream and later went back for coffee. Our party of three each ordered a different flavour and were delighted in taste testing each others. The ice cream was so good. We had to wait our turn in the line up but it was so worth it. I went by later for coffee and discovered they were supposed to be closed an hour before that but the happy customers kept coming so she made us our lattes. There was a group of Police man after us and Julia happily served them after us. I loved the ice cream, I loved the passionate and friendly service and the lattes were very tasty. It’s nice to see a small town business being run with such care, compassion to stay over time and such a tasty selection. If you haven’t tried it yet… GO. I will be back. 😊😊😊“

“We went there as a group last night. The place is beautiful and part of a historic landmark. The food was the best I’ve had in a very long time. I ordered the tnt shrimp and Dan Dan bowl with shrimp. It was insanely good. My friend is vegan and she had a huge menu to choose from. The drinks are beautiful and very good. I ordered the peach drink (it’s some sort of play on words name) and it was super good. As well as the green tea drink also good. My friend ordered the espresso martini flight. She didn’t like the red velvet one but the others were great. The service was kind of slow but I feel like there wasn’t enough staff on. The server was friendly and good at her job. Just probably too many tables for the servers they had. I highly recommend this place especially if you require reservations. We got in the week of for a table of 8. Thank you. I loved it all!!!“

“Ate there last night for the first time. I had the gluten free beef enchiladas (I have celiac disease) and they were delicious!! Everyone enjoyed their meals. The owner gave me a brief history of his journey in Winnipeg in providing gluten free products (although he does not have celiac disease, nor does he have allergies or gluten intolerance). He does not up charge for gf meals and doesn’t believe in penalizing those who can’t eat gluten because of a medical condition. So refreshing to hear!!!! A small, quaint family restaurant with all the Mexican vibes. Will definitely be back!“

Really nice for take out, and usually arrives nice and hot.

One time we were able to provide an extra generous tip for delivery, but the next time we ordered the delivery guy punched in the same tip amount as the last time without us knowing. Thankfully the machine didn’t work properly so it didn’t go through and we were able to change the tip amount to our choosing. We didn’t order from here for a year after that experience.
Now we have ordered again and have really loved having Tony’s Master of Pizza back in our take out options.“

I recently went gluten, dairy and soy free, I ordered a mixed berry pie, chicken pot pie, sourdough cinnamon buns, oatmeal raisin cookies, sourdough bread and sourdough hamburger buns.. the cookies.. to die for, the sourdough bread.. it’s killing me how delish it is.. and everything else looks so yummy I’m trying hard to space it out so I don’t put myself in a food coma. Which was nice bc it wasn’t loud in the restaurant. I ordered the Lunch Soup & Salad Combo ($18) - Roasted Red Pepper Soup and Apple & Cranberry Salad with 2 pieces of Garlic toast. I also shared the Block’s Beet Chips (full size $19) with my friends. The ingredients were all fresh, every dish tasted amazing. The staff were so incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Great spot, I would definitely be back again!“

“Sat outdoors on this very hot day. My group had a wonderful time. I had their Burger Jardin. I loved it. Always enjoy trying different veggie burgers but this one was different and soooo good. The patty was chickpea-based and tasted like a falafel burger. The burger was well dressed with delicious condiments. The sides were awesome home roasted home fries and great creamy coleslaw. The highlight though was an awesome server by the lovely name of Patience, She is bright, witty, perfectly discrete in her timing while waiting on us. Seriously, we will ask to be seated at one of her tables next time. Patience is an asset to Stella’s au CCFM.“
