“I've tried many other shawarma places but this one still has the best shawarma in the city. In fact, someone at another Middle Eastern restaurant even told me the same. The ingredients are fresh, the portion sizes are generous, and the quality of the meat is excellent. The service can be hit or miss—sometimes you get very pleasant employees, other times they're just okay, but never bad. One minor concern is that they place their utensils on top of the garbage can next to used rags/towels, which I found a bit off-putting. Overall, everything else was great.“

“Was my first time in. When I go to an Italian restaurant for the first time I usually opt for spaghetti and meatballs. Might seem the safe choice but in my opinion if you can’t do a good sauce with a simple meatball then you can’t do the rest well either. The meatballs lived up to the claim of made in house. These are not mass produced meatballs. They were not that close, so packed texture that mass produced can have. These were a delicate mixture of beef, veal and pork, well seasoned and not noticeably heavy in fillers. The best meatballs I can recall having. The pasta is house made also and was topped with a tangy tomato sauce. In all it was a great meal but I’m sad I was too full for desert. My friend had the French dip and the top sirloin sandwich was a hit with her. We were served by a vivacious young woman, Diana F, who ensured we had a wonderful dining experience. I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant, thanks to great food and great service, and will be back.“

I’m glad that they constantly tinker with the menu and add experiments but please bring back my Hogs and Scallops. I don’t care if scallops cost more now, raise the price but keep it on the menu.“

“Really cute place in a purple building! Got here later in the afternoon and grabbed a pizza twists, an oat latte and the last smoked tofu sandwich! Asked if it was vegan too make sure it was. Everything looks so great and love how the bread is all sourdough. The pizza twist tasted better than it looked. And I wished the sandwich had a bit more filling but the bread was super moist and it tasted really nice. The rest of the bread on display looked super delicious could eat bread for days. Overall, great bakery and great energy there. Would totally go back for more.“

“Delicious! We tried the Butter Chicken and the Chickpea Potato Curry. The butter chicken sauce was rich, creamy, and flavorful while the chicken was deliciously tender. The chickpea potato curry was perfectly spiced with a very deep flavour profile. The menu has lots of different international inspirations and this is some of the best Indian food we've had in Winnipeg. Chef Kumar and his team are very talented. We look forward to stopping by whenever we can and trying all the other dishes!“

Ordered Tony’s Special and a Carnivore. This is pretty close to what I am used to. Good fresh ingredients and lots, good sauce and great tasting dough but I would get a bit thicker crust next time. “Delicious undeniable food, especially for vegeterian!

My problem, and my groups problem is always the wait time. It seems as if only one person works the till, and the kitchen every-time we visit. It sometimes takes 25-35 minutes to get your food, which wastes a lot of your lunch hour.

I still recommend, but I will say order ahead!!

“First time trying this restaurant during their lunch hour based off of a recommendation. So worth the wait! Their lunch combos were only $10! What a deal during these trying times. Since it was Friday, I opted for the Lemon Chicken combo, which came with the protein of the day, plain fried rice, veggies, and either a small wonton or consommé soup. I also ordered a Vietnamese spring roll since it was called the Spring Roll Restaurant. The food was amazing and super delicious for its value! They were short-staffed but the food came out accordingly. The lunch hour was definitely busy but luckily I was there just before it was packed with people. I would definitely go back on different days to try their other lunch specials!“

“It was alright. Although over $8.00 for a milkshake is a steep price, they were generous with the mix-ins. I got the Kit-Kat milkshake and I would get it again. Atmosphere was a bit empty, and I think perhaps the interior could be a little better decorated - it just feels a bit awkward. Service was good. The toppings looked low-quality, which led me to opt for a milkshake rather than frozen yogurt.“

“Nice and cozy place to have a smoothie or your favourite latte with hazelnut/oat milk. I had an açai bowl with 4 toppings - goji berries, hemp hearts, honey and cashews. It was delicious. The açai blend was a little bit cold but it would be a perfect meal for a hot summery day.“

“A beautiful small upscale spot right at the arrivals pickup in the Winnipeg airport. This is genius on two levels:

1) You can pick up someone and grab a real quality bite to eat and wait for them, AND they validate parking ( boom, value!)

2) As a frequent business traveler who is tired of the Tim Hortons alternative, it’s MUCH appreciated to have good and healthy food options when you arrive at weird times (and need food like a human)

Decided to order in desert but when we finished the selection and went to order on skip, the store was closed for orders - by two minutes. We decided to phone to see if there was any way to let the order go through but they explained that is controlled by skip the dishes. To make a long story short, when they heard it was for a pregnant, newly expecting mother, Menchie offered to personally deliver our order after their shift ended and the store closed. The staff were lovely and gave great, fast service. Katrina was especially kind made the experience even better with her optimistic attitude.

“Just when you think they can't raise their game any higher Hy's manages to find a way. We attended the Calgary locations 10th Anniversary Celebration on Sept 26th and it was spectacular. The event was flawlessly organized and orchestrated by the Hy's team, the food was next level even by Hy's standards and the service exceeded anything we have experienced anywhere in North America even in the finest hotels. Bryant Olender added a classic background with piano and vocal stylings that perfectly suited the atmosphere. It was certainly the best evening we have at Hy's over the last decade, and I don't think I'm overstating it to say it was a "Once in a Lifetime" experience. A huge thankyou to Barb and the entire Hy's team!“
