“The atmosphere here is lacking but the food more than makes up for it. The food is prepared by Winnipeg’s only fully qualified Japanese trained chef. Try it out and you will know exactly what I mean. Chef Masa above and beyond to bring authentic Japanese food to all of “
“Ichiban is a great experience for a large group of friends that want to eat good food while having fun! The atmosphere of the restaurant was exciting and electrically charged, but it's the service that made the experience truly stand out. Chef Roger was a wonderful host that kept us thoroughly entertained throughout the night! Many thanks to the server Kathy as well!“
“Went there for Valentine's day. The food was delicious, and the staff very friendly. The premium rolls and sashimi aren't super cheap (though not at all outrageous), but the standard rolls are very affordable and also delicious. So you can eat per your budget, which is very nice. Highly recommend this place.“
“This is what I want whenever I imagine a perfect juicy chicken burger. The price is definitely more than fast food burger but lower than restaurant level burger so make sense. Their sushi rolls were alright, good but not amazing. But will definitely try more of their burger selections. They are a ghost kitchen with a couple running the business, go support local everyone!!“
“Sushi was delicious!! Staff is lovely, and our server Bobby was the sweetest!! The fish in the sushi tasted fresher than any other winnipeg sushi spots i’ve had. Bobby even gave me a handful of extra candy at the end when I said it was my favourite! We also got a roll on the house, honestly couldn’t have been better service. We will be back!! Thanks again to Bobby ? ?!!“
“What a gem of a restaurant we discovered by fluke on our way to the airport. We had a short turn-around time before our flight out and Yujiro staff made it happen. The quality of offerings is fantastic and servers were wonderful. We look forward to spending a nice evening here the next time we’re in town.“
“I've always had Sushi but never really had restaurant style sushi and it was so good. The atmosphere was good, music was good and the price was not bad at all.We also had Stir fried beef and vegetables and Salmon. They were served with a bowl of rice, each. These were absolutely awesome. If I ever feel like having sushi again, I'll know where to go.“
“Wanting to try a new sushi restaurant, we ordered tonight through Uber Eats. We were SO impressed - speedy delivery, rolls were made with care, tasted delicious and the pieces were huge. Surprise free sushi pizza which was a nice treat as well. Best sushi we’ve ordered in quite a while!“
“Was craving for Takoyaki and drove 25 mins to tryout this place, there was little to no parking, the neighborhood felt a bit unsafe, was forced to park a block away. The store/restaurant is small, bar seats for 4 max if you are dining in.Both Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki we tried were good and should be eaten dine in to appreciate its full delicious awesomeness but most customers were ordering to go which is a shame. The lady that took our order and prepared it was really nice and pleasant, though we had a bit of misunderstanding with my order. If we lived closer to this part if the city I can see myself coming here often but if you have to drive a bit I would recommend to dine in.“
“Increased quality - Best visit yet (new chef?). Same low prices with the consistent happy/friendly/respectful waitress. With my most recent visit, they had a new female sushi chef working by herself that haven't seen before. She has amazing knife work and attention to detail.Highlight of the night:Salmon Sashimi! The slices were cut to the perfect thickness, marinated to perfection and were super fresh. All pieces were consistent in size and marbling. They went superbly well with their custom blended soy sauce. It was on par with Wasabi and Edokko's offerings, but 3 times cheaper.Rolls:We tried a variety of maki rolls, which we noticed were rolled tighter and the rice used held together better when handled. They were all tasty without complaint - a cut above for the fair price.Avocado/Veggies:In the past, I would notice black speckled or off-coloured avocado from here occasionally. This time the avocado was perfect ripeness. The same goes with the rest of the veggies used. This chef shows she cares about the customer and pays attention to quality.Ambieance:It's really quiet, calming music and cozy/private feeling inside. The decor is Japanese based and looks professionally renovated.Minor Critiques:Hoping for more higher $ cuts of sashimi and nigiri. Really wanted to see more options.“
“The chicken karaage is the best we've tasted in the city. We make it at home and we know they're using the proper ingredients. Tan tan ramen is nice and flavourful. I personally don't like the meat in the tonkotsu ramen, it doesn't really give the melt in your mouth feeling. Something that bothered me, which was also a minor food safe violation was the bowl they gave us had lots of scratches. Like the paint inside was all scratched“
“The owner have just changed a week ago and the place is nothing but a surprise. The quality and the quantity you get out of this store is amazing, with the money you are paying. The chef has 10 years experience and the quality is guaranteed! because of this, there are almost no waiting time. Store is also very clean and great for some quite and quality times. I strongly recommend this place for anyone who's out there looking at this!“
“My favorite sushi place in the city.I have got take out from here many many times and have never been disappointed.Fresh tasting ingredients, expertly prepared and never had an incorrect order yetAnytime I eat at another sushi joint I always think I should have got kai.Must try“
“It's a cute store and has a lot of neat little items. A little annoying that so many require assistance to purchase, but that's life I guess.Feels more like an experience than it does a store, which is part of the charm in my opinion.“
“Choosing this place to celebrate my daughter's birthday was the best choice. With just short notice, Andy and his staff makes it possible. Most of the guest we have were surprised with how fresh and good the food is. Highly recommended place to dine! Big thanks to Andy and staff, you are the best! More celebrations to celebrate it here! Great job to @pokemonowinnipeg!“
“Went here a few weeks ago on a 'treat yourself' kinda day. Food was great, ordered some takoyaki and pork katsu curry rice which is enough to fill you up the rest of the day. Staff are friendly, atmosphere is where it's lacking. But overall, love it.“
“Still one of Winnipeg's top choices for Sushi. Nestled in the heart of the exchange district Bluefish never disappoints. We enjoyed a set menu of dinner for two (should be for two days) that included their signature flaming scallops. Generous portions, professional service and great food!“
“its not the fanciest place in the world but its the warmest atmosphere with the nicest staff and the most delicious food. i go here all the time, im obsessed with their salmon poke bowl, and have brought everyone in my life here and put them onto their sushi too. also try their takoyakiVegetarian options: yes! they have a whole section for meatless options, i love the yam tempura roll! i have tried others but the names dont come to mind as fast!Dietary restrictions: they mostly have rice dishes (it is mostly a sushi restaurant) but they have a delicious miso soup, vegetarian options (i love the yam tempura roll) and im sure someone on any diet could eat something from sushi gozenParking: because it is located within st vital mall near london drugs there is plenty parking close to the doorsKid-friendliness: i have seen kids in the restaurant at the same time as myself, it seems very child-friendlyWheelchair accessibility: there is no steps, and all tables are on the floor, so i don’t see it not being accessible. the only thing is some points of getting to the back of the restaurant are kind of narrow, but its only if its packed and people are sitting at every table, they have very large accessible bathrooms as well!“
“ABSOLUTELY THEE BEST!! I just moved down the street and OMG! I love this little hole in the wall place. You almost miss it if you're not paying attention.Once inside it is painted black which gives a very nice ambiance. I wish the table and chairs were set up (prior to covid and hopefully after) as it is a very nice place to sit and have a quick lunch break. Not to mention the prices are perfect!THANK YOU WATTA SUSHI EMPLOYEES! SEE YOU SOON! ?“
“It is one of the best Sushi restaurants in our city.Whenever we go to the restaurant they do not disappoint. The seafood is fresh and vegetables as well. The rolls are always excellent. Presentation is lovely and staff are friendly. The menu has a good variety of options.Well worth the visit. Pricing is fair.“
“Great place! Went there to celebrate my birthday. Friendly staff, good food. We ordered extreme volcano roll and tempura and sushi combo. We were so full that we took some food home. Japanese beer is tasty. You are also getting a nice view on a new beautiful building - The Zü. Will definitely come back!“
“Ordered a bunch of sushi for a group get together. Everything was tasty and fresh. They even threw in a large complimentary order of spring rolls. Thanks! We ordered in advance and it was pretty much ready on time, we waited a few minutes for it to get all bagged up (quite a large order).Staff were friendly. We did take out. The restaurant itself was simple and fairly basic, but was cozy enough looking and clean.“
“Had lunch at the koya in GP today for the first time in forever. It was delicious!! Fresh fluffy rice on a combination of beef and chicken with teriyaki sauce. Loads of fresh veggies and a huge portion too. If you don't like rice you can have it on udon noodles instead. They will add extra sauce or make it spicy too. They have some other ready to order chinese food. I would get there before 2:30 as it sells out and is delicious whem its fresh.“
“This is a great place to have sushi and at reasonable pricing. The service is great, food is tasty but the location is a little tired and needs an upgrade. It can get cramped up there. I have done sit in and take out and quality is the same. Always courteous and respectful. Will be back. This is a tiny little place and gets busy during peak lunch/dinner times. Noticed that the prices have gone up a bit, but the food is still tasty. The wait staff are always friendly.“
“high quality sushi for a takeout place, even better than some sushi restaurants. very generous cuts of fish, good ratio with rice. great presentation and kind staff. highly recommend. its alittle more expensive but the quality is there and definitely worth your money.“
“Some menu items I would definitely go back for were the mango chicken and the korokke. The udon stir fry wasn’t really worth it and the black garlic ramen wasn’t that good. I liked the service there we had a very friendly and accommodating server. Overall I would genuinely go back for the korokke and maybe to try other different menu items.“
“I went here for the first time for a late lunch. I was greeted at the door and directed to sit by the window. Decor is quite dated, relatively clean, with dimmed lighting away from the window. No other customers were there or came in. I was kindly brought water without asking for it. The menu had a great variety of options, and they have an all you can eat menu, which I did not look into. After a few minutes, my order was taken. I ordered two sushi maki rolls - firefly and chicken teriyaki. They came out in a timely manner, were nicely presented, warm and delicious. There wasn't too much rice, though I'm not sure that it was sushi rice, it looked like long grain. The server didn't check on me to see how the meal was, and eventually I had to get up to find them for a food box and the bill. Payment was taken at the front entry. Overall, I would order from here again, but probably as take out.Parking: There's no parking on Portage Ave between 1530 - 1730. So you have to use limited side street parking and walk a bit to the restaurant.“
“Make sure to order one of their special or torches roll whenever u r there. So yummy ??Also, their hot level was actually not that spicy, even the spiciest is just some kick. So I think everyone can enjoy their rolls. And yes, I have low tolerance for spice as well“
“This is the second time I've been here. Despite the unassuming facade of the building the food here is quite good. I've had both the spicy miso ramen, and chicken karaage ramen. They were both extremely tasty! The sushi in my experience has also been very tasty. My personal favorite is their sumo roll (deep fried California roll). Definitely one of Winnipeg's best places to go for sushi or ramen. I would highly recommend giving it a shot“
“Got a build your own burrito with my boyfriend and it was so delicious. All the ingredients are super fresh and the burritos are a really nice size. Very chill inside and friendly workers ((:Vegetarian options: Great variety of vegan/veggie options for bowls and burritos. Made it really easy and delicious to order and eat here as vegans.“
“we had lunch today there and greeted by a waitress who was friendly and introduced the signature food, seafood shrimp ramen. the shrimp based soup was very rich in flavored. the presentation for the ramen was outstanding and colorful which is eye catching. portion for ramen was quite big! my hubby ordered the cha siu pepper soup ramen, it's mouth watering. the restaurant's decoration was cozy and cs was good, asking us for comment to make improvements. if u can provide lemon vinegar sauce would be perfect. More items to be selected such as dumpling, choice of thick noddle and appetizers etc. I love the logo design. highly recommend to others.“
