“The bistro has a menu that is clearly created with love for food and great knowledge of the Metis culture. The owner is a creative genius when it comes time to some of the unique combinations he has created to put on the menu. What I appeared most about the bistro experience, is the care that goes into sourcing every ingredient made to cook the quality food they offer. Your meals are not throwing together with margarine, or low quality butter. Give me are not purchased from superstore. The owners have taken time to locally source everything they can. From flour to fish, to bison and so on. This bistro is very evidently built and ran with the love and pride they take in their Metis roots. Apart from the quality and taste of the food and the owner go to make sure the guests have a quality experience, they give back to our youth. The owners took a chance and hired my 14 year old son to joint their team. Being a small business and taking a risk on hiring somebody so young was really something special. When my son was wanting to get a part-time job, we knew how challenging it would be for him being 14, and to enter the workforce. Most people wouldn’t want to give someone that young a chance. Especially with the role he was hired for. If he was the type of young man that didn’t show up to work, or didn’t keep his commitments, it would cause a lot of stress on the restaurant as a whole. And the fact that Dean and his wife took a chance and believed in my son… The bistro, and the owners will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s one thing to provide quality food, and to provide a great restaurant experience, but it’s another thing to be a good person behind the scenes. “Delicious! We tried the Butter Chicken and the Chickpea Potato Curry. The butter chicken sauce was rich, creamy, and flavorful while the chicken was deliciously tender. The chickpea potato curry was perfectly spiced with a very deep flavour profile. The menu has lots of different international inspirations and this is some of the best Indian food we've had in Winnipeg. Chef Kumar and his team are very talented. “Really cute place in a purple building! Got here later in the afternoon and grabbed a pizza twists, an oat latte and the last smoked tofu sandwich! Asked if it was vegan too make sure it was. Everything looks so great and love how the bread is all sourdough. The pizza twist tasted better than it looked. And I wished the sandwich had a bit more filling but the bread was super moist and it tasted really nice. The rest of the bread on display looked super delicious could eat bread for days. Overall, great bakery and great energy there. Would totally go back for more.“

“It’s good but not great. Definitely better than your chain pizza. Thin crust and toppings to the edge. I would have preferred the crust was cooked a little more on the bottom. I liked that it’s toppings then cheese vs cheese then toppings. Nice sauce with some extra dollops in the middle but I would preferred also more sauce overall on the pizza.

Not a place to sit down. Grab and go. Pizza was ready by the time for pickup.

Pushing closer to $30 for 3 toppings medium is more than I’d like to pay for just good.

I’ll have to give them another shot to see to make it a frequent joint. Will return. For now 3.9.“

I recently went gluten, dairy and soy free, I ordered a mixed berry pie, chicken pot pie, sourdough cinnamon buns, oatmeal raisin cookies, sourdough bread and sourdough hamburger buns.. the cookies.. to die for, the sourdough bread.. it’s killing me how delish it is.. and everything else looks so yummy I’m trying hard to space it out so I don’t put myself in a food coma. “I tried giving this location a fair chance but after our most recent visit I will never step foot inside the Henderson Leo's. A few months ago we waited over an hour for our food. We never complained. The manager did apologize to us and did give us free drink vouchers and free deep fried pickles for our next visit. Plus I do believe he discounted our bill. I was still displeased as I wasn't looking for any freebies, just good service. Fast forward a couple of weeks ago, and our table joked about us getting free drink vouchers again. I said no don't say that. Well....almost an hour later the server came to our table and apologized for the delay in our food. She said the reason was that they suddenly got a lot of skip order and it delayed our order coming out. That did not sit well with me but I said nothing. We continued to wait and eventually got our food. My fries were cold and my burger was luke warm. My son received his food 5 mins later. My girlfriend's order was completely wrong and dissapointed because she was looking forward to the dill pickle chicken burger. She even pointed to the picture when she ordered it. She didn't say anything because she knew I was already angry and didn't want me to make a scene. I left all my fries on the plate. No questions from the server if there was anything wrong. I was so dissapointed as I really enjoy the food at Leo's. I'm leaving this review in hopes that changes are made at this location so others can enjoy their visits

UPDATE- Since my review, Tim kept communicating with me via emails. He made a genuine effort to make things right. I felt he was sincere and accepted his apology for how our evening went. I do believe in the future we will be back and its all because Tim took the time to listen and make things right. In case anyone was wondering this was originally a 1 star review.“

“This is my favorite spot in Winnipeg. I have been coming here fairly regularly for nearly a year now. The food and drinks are great. This pub is upscale yet comfortable. The regulars at the bar are nice, gregarious people; I've met lots of good folks here.

The service is always excellent. McKenzie, Jon, Emily, and Dasia always keep this place running smoothly (and they're great people too). Lastly, the folks in the kitchen are incredible; the food is of consistently high quality every time I have been here.“

“I went to to Harrison’s for the first time while out on a nice walk with my friend and her dog. We had wanted to stop for a coffee and noticed the little shop on Waterfront. Not only was the Coffee great but they were a pet friendly establishment and provided water outside for them to have a drink as well. I’m a forever customer now.“

Decided to order in desert but when we finished the selection and went to order on skip, the store was closed for orders - by two minutes. We decided to phone to see if there was any way to let the order go through but they explained that is controlled by skip the dishes. To make a long story short, when they heard it was for a pregnant, newly expecting mother, Menchie offered to personally deliver our order after their shift ended and the store closed. They even threw in extra goodies at no added cost! Absolutely amazing! And of course, everything was delicious.“

“Back in 2013 I was in Winnipeg for work for a month, as an engineering firm was relocating from Winnipeg to the Twin Cities where I live.

After work, the highlight of the evening for myself and the other Americans was going out for a good dinner around town. I'm half Indian, so quickly found this place and wanted to give it a shot.

First off, I must say that growing up with Indian food almost daily and visiting India a few times, I am pretty picky. Most Indian restaurants in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area tend to be pretty bland as they're afraid of offending the Nordic locals. So I have tried many places around here and was disappointed.

East India Company was a breath of fresh air. It is the best Indian food I've had outside of India. The buffet was great with so many choices, even lamb. Each of these dishes was flavorful, high quality, and hot when it should be and still flavorfully spicy when it didn't (like the tandoori chicken). The dal was top notch as was the wide array of desserts. I ended with a wonderful chai, concluding one of my best restaurant experiences ever.

I've used this place as a reference for what an Indian restaurant should be ever since then, and finally last month I got a chance to take a personal trip to Winnipeg. I'm not lying when I say that part of the reason to travel 7.5 hours up north was simply to try this place again.

Was it going to hold up after 13 years in my head? After kicking the snow off my boots and coming in, I smiled knowing that I was in for a treat. I took a bite of the lamb curry and it was just as good as I remembered it. I went on to other dishes and they were stunning too. I made sure to pass these compliments on to the owner.

My only complaint is that I wish it was closer to me so I could eat here more often!

“Just when you think they can't raise their game any higher Hy's manages to find a way. We attended the Calgary locations 10th Anniversary Celebration on Sept 26th and it was spectacular. The event was flawlessly organized and orchestrated by the Hy's team, the food was next level even by Hy's standards and the service exceeded anything we have experienced anywhere in North America even in the finest hotels. Bryant Olender added a classic background with piano and vocal stylings that perfectly suited the atmosphere. It was certainly the best evening we have at Hy's over the last decade, and I don't think I'm overstating it to say it was a "Once in a Lifetime" experience. A huge thankyou to Barb and the entire Hy's team!“

They had a problem with their fountain drinks, which were flat. However, they were able to resolve the issue.
