“We had never tried Afghani food before, and I am so glad we did. The staff was so friendly and helpful with any questions we had. They recommended the Mini Taste of Arocostia for our first time. Everything was FANTASTIC!!! The food was cooked perfectly. The service was great! We never had to ask to have our beverages filled up, because they were already on top of it before we had to ask. They packed all our leftovers into boxes for us for our way home. We will definitely be going back!“

“Loved eating here. The restaurant smelled faintly of incense, which was a welcome ambiance. Tables are layed out well so it doesn't feel cramped. The space is nice and bright with beautiful decor. The staff were friendly and very attentive. Service was fast and the food was absolutely delicious! Loved every single thing I ordered:

Sheer chai — this tea had a nice balance of milk and sugar

Mantoo classic — these beef dumplings were full of flavor and served at the right temperature, hot but not too much to burn your mouth

Lamb shank — the sauce was packed with flavor and the meat fell off the bones. It came with rice that was a lovely buttery complement to the lamb

Sheer berenj — had this for dessert and it was very refreshing. It's not milky and the pistachios on top added a nice nutty flavor to the rice pudding

Green tea with cardamom — nice way to end dinner“

“Wow - didn’t know of this gem in the Lee Highway neighbourhood. Really good food and outstanding (!) service. The ‚repacked‘ my family platter to fit in my bike pouch - and gave my boy a free drink. This is really special and needs to be mentioned. One thing is for sure: we will be back!“

“This is a favorite personal stop for me and my family. We’ve been coming here for years and have never experienced a meal that wasn’t delicious. The food is wonderfully seasoned with tons of character and vibrant colors. The dish can evolve as you move from one side of your plate to another. My favorite dish, the Kadu Palow, is divided into a hearty beef stew, a well-seasoned rice, and an insanely delicious pumpkin. Each part of the dish offers a unique taste profile that goes from beefy to salty to a sweet with some yogurty-tang. It’s crazy how many flavors can live on just one plate and offer new experiences by mixing these taste ecosystems. Their decor is classy and a little fun with little die-cast cars lining the bar. The owner is super nice and always greets our family warmly. The restaurant is a staple in my life and their food has never failed to leave me heading home happy. If you haven’t been here, do yourself a favor and try the food.“

“I popped in here for dinner after work and I had a very pleasant experience. As others have mentioned, the quality of the food, service and atmosphere were all just perfect.

I had the Chicken Kabab Platter and the kitchen did a great job sticking with the flavors and spices. They didnt tone it down or make any drastic changes. Good portion sizes as well with fresh naan, butter, and sauces, along with the rice. Will definitely come back!“

“Large portions, got chicken kabob and beef kubideh. The kubideh was one of the best I've ever had, but the chicken a bit overcooked. Bread fresh and hot. Veggies crisp, onions sweet red, lettuce in salad fresh and good quality/cut (if somewhat uninspired). Yogurt dip and hot mint very well balanced. The 5 star rating is really overall for the great value, generous hours, and great service of the family. This is a good choice for a casual meal day or night.“

“I'm usually eating at lunch which is sparsely attended, and thus staffed, but everyone is quite nice. My most recent lunch, Mantu, "ground beef and onion-filled dumpling, topped with fresh homemade yogurt, meat sauce and dried mint" was the best thing I ate that week. I imagine that one weekend the large dining room is crowded with families.“
