“The pink exterior of this building is unmissable; it seems to have become a must-visit brunch spot for those living in Georgetown. While we may have forgotten what we ordered, one thing not to be missed is their "spicy honey" - it elevates the taste of the bagel to a whole new level. Seating is limited, so it's first come, first served!“
“A throw back deli like the best NY has to offer. You’re as likely to see your old Hebrew school teacher enjoying a white fish platter as you are a landscaping crew chowing down on bagels and lox. Service is quick and courteous; pickle bar is plentiful; sandwiches sumptuous; desserts decadent. Chicken soup and matzah balls like grandma made. Eat al fresco in nice weather. What else do you need?“
“I had heard of Call Your Mother when researching good bagel places in DC. The bagels are okay - they are definitely not the chewy New York style I am used to. The everything was a bit underwhelming, however the apple cinnamon had just the right amount of sweetness. The oat latte was actually quite good; it’s a really good cup of coffee with a huge range of bagel sandwiches.Vegetarian options: You can build your own bagel sandwich and add veggies if you have specific preferences.“
“Quite good for what it is. The food is simple, not pretentious and affordable. Sometimes they use cheaper ingredients like their cheesesteak is warm roast beef with cheese and condiments but their cold cut sandwiches are quite good, soups are made fresh, snacks abundant and priced accordingly. The owners and their staff are friendly, quick and will remember their regulars.“
“It’s been 5 years since I last ate here, and it feels like old times today. The breakfast platter taste just like I remembered, the staff is very he beat as always. And they remember me and the melts my heart. #bestbreakfastDC #toptenstaff #“
“Very busy place with lots of good snacks (and supplies if you're short on something for the home) and food! The prices are a little up there but I'd say it's worth it for the most part. Make sure to get napkins for the sandwiches! They're really messy!“
“Have been in and out of that Exxon many times, and never even considered eating here. I was hungry and grabbed a chicken quesadilla to go. It was one of the best quesadillas I've ever had, have since been back and gotten the steak and some other things. The cheese pulls are ridiculous. Hidden Gem!“
“Excellent choice while in DC. The bagel and locks, and the corned beef and pastrami egg and cheese on everything bagel was absolutely fantastic!I see some others left 1-star reviews in regards to staff being negative. I mean, the title of this shop has "So's Your Mom"!C-mon! They're just yankin your chain before you even walk inside :)Live a little, am I wrong? Laughter is the best medicine.Food was awesome. Don't come in if you're too uptight, so, get your momma to pick up your order from here after you call ahead.“
“Thanks to other reviews, I found this place fairly easily. What a great little mom and pop spot! The prices are beyond reasonable! I had a sausage egg and cheese on a bagel and home fries. Both were delicious and my total was under $10! Definitely try it out if you're in the area!“
“I am part Polish. My great grandmother came from there to Ellis Island in 1906. She raised my Mother who is now in an assisted living environment less than 1 mile away from this place. I am always looking for little things to help brighten her day when I visit several times a week. Polka Deli in has proven to be an ideal solution and helping me meet that goal. My earliest memories are eating freshly made pierogies and kielbasa in my great grandmothers kitchen with my mom and others. Enjoying the amazing food and snacks I’ve picked up here helps both of us during these very difficult times as she is confined to a bed over 90% of the time. She only eats a few bites so my diet is not improving but getting the smile from her and as we drift in and out of memories together is priceless.“
“There’s no shortage of good delis in Washington, D.C.- Carl’s Subbs, Mother Rucker’s, Mangialardo’s, among others. 2 Sisters Deli may not stand with the giants, but it’s a worthy contender, especially for a no-frills deli in an office building. Surrounded by government buildings, it’s one of the few places to grab a good local lunch that’s not a chain. Stopping in for lunch, here’s my experience.1) Food: The line is long, but it moves quickly during lunch with so many people taking orders. Know what you want so you can order right when they ask. They sell classic sandwiches, specialty sandwiches, melts, and wraps.I ordered the Wall Street Club without tomato and it was good. It comes cut in half and was the perfect amount of food. I added a fountain drink and chips (Sun Chips).2) Drinks: There’s coffee, bottled drinks, and a Pepsi soda fountain.3) Service: It’s quick and no time for conversation, but it was a good experience.4) Space: It’s no-frills and there are a few tables with chairs in the back if you’re one of the few who don’t get your sandwich to go.“
“I'm still exploring the area around work and am always delighted in finding different places to eat. With Corner Bakery in limbo with it being 'temporarily closed' for months now, I almost lost hope that I would find variation for lunch anymore. We all know the draining experience it can be to visit Union Station as well. It's always fun visiting this place due to the fact that you might run into a newscast out front from one of the many news channels located within the building. But once you get past any newscast outside you are finally able to enter and take a look over the menu. If you do not know what you want, stand to the side and allow other customers to come in and order. I have been here a few times since my initial check in and have had the opportunity to try a few things. Overall, the quality of the food is fresh and it is tasty. I seem to stick to the items that are "California." I have had the California Wrap and I have had the California bowl. The wrap is fresh and packed full of toppings. Ample enough to be a lunch and portable enough to eat on your way back to your workplace. The bowl, you'll need a bit of time to sit down and devour this. Rice is the base and all the toppings are placed on top. Fresh avocado kind of pulls it all together. This place is capable of catering, but it appears that you will need to call well in advance to set up your catering needs. Due to their hours they would need to set it up with staffing an what not. As for the location, going back to that, a lot of the pictures appear to be of the old location. With it being in the Hall of States it is a much brighter atmosphere. White making it feel crisp and indoor/outdoor seating available. The sides are decent. I have gotten one of their cookies (amazing). And their cooler is stocked full of items that will seem exotic until you try them.“
“Filippo's may be the most complete Italian deli in Montgomery County. Some have cold cuts, some have baked goods, some has selections of pasta. Filippo's has it all plus the best pizza dough I've found and at a bargain price. Others have praised their sandwiches but they may have the definitive local cheesesteak. I don't know if they still do it but they used to bring in their rolls from Philadelphia. Hidden on the street behind 'Dunkin but worth seeking out.“
“Awesome food for the price. Everything is super fresh! They have gluten free bread which was very good! Friendly staff and fast service! Cute little cafe. Hidden gem for sure!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free bread option that was very good!“
“Jack's is a circus and with that, welcome to the big top and enjoy the show. I have been expanding my reach for lunch while in the office. Most people I work with don't like to venture out too much, but for me, I will put in the footwork to find a new place that I can throw into my rotation. After a quick walk I was here and thrown into the madness with everyone else. I purposefully showed up after what I though was going to be the lunch rush and was surprised by the amount of people still piling in to grab themselves some lunch like me.I'm going to be honest here, I had no idea what I was doing in here as it was my first visit. I had no idea how things worked in this circus, but I was going to try my best to fit in. When I got inside I stood in a line that I though was the place to be. I had no clue if this is how this place flowed, but I went with it. Luckily for me it was the right thing to do. That line had constant movement and before I knew it I was at the front and placing my order. I ordered two sandwiches and fries (they were on special that day). Then this is where you get to sit back and enjoy the show. After you order you are given your number for your order and you kind of just get pushed off to the sides and are able to take it all in. This is where I realized that there really isn't any one particular way to go about getting food in here. In the middle of it all is the hot/cold bar where you can order salads, sides and soups. I was wondering how some people were getting out of here so fast and that was it, some knew they wanted to just have some soup or nosh on a salad and that was the way for them.As I am watching the show in front of me, I keep getting pushed back further and further to what I am assuming is a corridor that connects to the main building or the restrooms. I kept seeing people getting their orders as I stood there. Finally they called my number and told me I still had to wait for the fries. If I would have known it was going to take that long I probably wouldn't have ordered them. But that also let me look over the coolers for a drink and then eventually get a dessert, even though I didn't need one.My fries were finally done and I got in line to pay. The circus continues here as there are multiple lines, but no one knows which one they should be getting into. With my food in hand and having paid, I was finally able to get out the door and back to my office.I ordered two sandwiches here because I knew I was going to be in the office late that evening and it was like killing two birds with one stone type of situation. For my lunchtime sandwich I went with a BLT as I have been on that kick for a minute now. It was delicious and I was happy to have that pickle wrapped up in there with it.For my later meal I went with an egg salad sandwich which I knew would hold better in a fridge for later. Also paired with a pickle. My soda choice matched perfectly and that, my friends, is how you get a show with your meal. Go to a vibrantly busy business and watch the mishmash of people buzz about. Not bad for review 3,300!“
“Great little shop located in lobby area of a professional building. Shelves are stocked with many different options as well as healthy fruits and vegetables. Would recommend anyone doing business in the 8720 Office Building to check them out.“
“Pizza for $2.50 a slice. Very old school Italian deli. It was great to see this kind of place still going strong in an age of chain markets and restaurants. We also picked up some funky looking pasta sauce. We'll definitely be coming back to get olives as a party appetizer, or a pizza as takeout.“
“I haven't eaten here yet but plan to do so soon. I stop in for something every time I visit my niece and nephew who live in the neighborhood. My niece raves about their salads. They are well stocked for a small shop and the staff is great! I love stopping in just for the atmosphere and to give them business. Small businesses in the city need to thrive, especially when they get it right like these folks have!“
“No complaints place has good food good prices and kind employees. My plumbing school is 1 minute away and many other students all order from them at once but they can handle the rush with fresh tasty food! I've never ate inside but place seems clean and inviting“
“Listen, I order GrubHub seven days a week OK I never heard of this restaurant before I ordered three sandwiches first of all the patty melt is so good and came so hot off fresh off the grill it burnt the top of my mouth and I couldn’t do anything but keep eating it. Amazing flavor freshness, quality, if I ever wanted to learn how to make sandwiches, I will go to university wise Miller, deli superior I’ve been in DC 13 years and I always learned something new or new place to go. This place never seems to amaze me keep up the five star business, I love it.“
“Absolutely the #1 BREAKFAST AND LUNCH in DMV AREA there has been no other deli I've visited that was as fast and such perfectly prepared down home food. I've been a loyal customer for many years and promise you all that you will NEVER be disappointed each time.“
“Needed a quick bite to eat after a concert & going to out hotel close by, had the chicken wrap & some wings. We enjoyed that it was made fresh on the spot & tasted great especially at midnight, the casher was UNFORGETABLE with his catchphrase "alright awesome!" He's definitely a highlight. Would definitely swing by this small hidden gem!!“
“They have the best chicken wings and mumbo sauce in the city. The fish sandwich is always fresh and hot. Great Customer Service! You will not be disappointed. They know everyone by name. If you're in the area give them a try! They close pretty early though around 3pm. Get there grab some lunch and go see the cherry blossoms, visit the yards or catch a concert at the wharf!“
“First visit. The phones on the wall and rustic / pastel paint job are creative and cute without being tacky - nice vibe. Staff very friendly and helpful. We tried 2 of the bagel sandwiches: The Mountain View. Egg, latke and cheese - great combo I've never heard of before, highly recommended - there was so little avocado that it didn't register, but it wasn't needed. The Sun City with bacon, egg, cheese, honey on everything bagel - also a good combo if less original than the Mountain View. The music was loud and not great. Maybe the strategy is to get people to just take out and not sit down? The suggested tip starts at 15%....l know many places in DC are doing that but for takeout it's not ok with me. Prices + tips have gotten out of hand and we do eat out less often now because of it.“
“Quick breakfast/lunch place! We got two subs and two drinks for lunch, which costed lesser than $20. The service is very good, friendly and efficient, so even if you see many people in the store, you won't wait much. For a wrap, I could choose a wrap type so I had green spinach rather than regular wheat or other types. The ingredients were super fresh, and the portion was also great. Way way way better than going to Subway, which doesn't have fresh ingredients or offer this price. There are a range of sub menus so I would try another one again. There are two tables inside and many outdoor seatings outside.“
“We are highly satisfied. My husband and I ordered the single crab cake sandwich, big chair reuben and fries. Everything was so good. Please keep up the good work as related to the quality and freshness of the food you’re serving. It’s definitely needed and appreciated in this neighborhood.“
“Upon suffering fractured ribs from multiple police cars smashing into his own, and then being informed by the AI in his armored, jet-propulsion-equipped, Chevy Tahoe that "DC Metro Police Dispatch shows no units in this area," it is quite possible that Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury had second thoughts. What if, instead of asking Agent Maria Hill to come to DC in three hours under "Deep Shadow Conditions," he had entertained a less risky plan of hers he never mentioned to anyone? What if he had agreed to an all-members-of-Shield retreat in Greenbelt, Maryland, only fifteen minutes away as the crow flies from DC, and scheduled breakfast at the Uptown Grill at 7501 Greenway Drive? Although it's true he might've been less likely to hear the "Hail Hydras" whispered among Jasper Sitwell, Senator Stern, Brock Rumlow, and Alexander Pierce, it's also true that Hydra's clandestine communications might very well have been disrupted by every agent of Shield ordering "Banana Cakes," pancake-shaped pieces of decadent delight that need no syrup to stymie loose lips and already-lost honor.“
“I could not believe this store. People were lined up outside trying to get in line. This was my first time and I knew the food had to be good with so many people standing in line. I purchased a 7 pound Honey Baked Ham and a small sliced Turkey packet. The manager was so helpful but she sent Mr Alonzo to complete my order. He took care of my needs and brought all the Ham with him to the front counter. I will return to this store again. The food and customer service was outstanding.“
“The food is solid; no frills, but absolutely delicious. The staff is very nice, treats customers with respect, and genuinely appreciates our business. This breakfast spot never disappoints. Ever. Chopped steak and eggs, pancakes, corned beef hash.... you name it, I've had it. And it's all been really good. There's nothing fancy about this place; it's a hole in the wall spot churning out good food, real fast.If you want something quick, hearty, and made to order.... This is the spot.“
“Found myself in Greenbelt looking for lunch and tried Generous Joe’s Deli. What a great stop for lunch! It’s like stepping back in time when good food was prepared fresh at a reasonable price. The service was super friendly. The cheeseburger was great and the turkey club sub was enormous! I would definitely make this a regular stop if I lived in this area.“
“My husband and I were visiting DC in February. The hotel we were at did not have a restaurant. After some exploring we found this little gem. Had a delicious breakfast every morning in DC and never left feeling hungry. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. It was nice to go there in the morning and be recognized. I know those in the restaurant business see a lot of people. To be remembered is something special. We are planning another trip back in a couple weeks and plan to make this a daily stop for us.“
“I wanted to explore and try something new and found this, I went ahead to go inside and was greeted and serviced by one of the best people I’ve seen with great customer service, ordered a turkey sub which was so delicious. I’m definitely coming back and highly recommend this place.“
“Super nice owner I came by for some other business in the building and I wasn't allowed to bring my coffee into the testing center. So after the test I went back and got another cup of coffee and the owner recognized me and said another cup? I told him that the testing center didn't allow coffee in and they made me dump it. The owner was really nice and took mercy on me and let me have another cup for free. The coffee was really really good. I was surprised. Normally when it sits on a burner it gets burnt, but this was really fresh. I guess that's why it's called fresh deli.“
