I personally tried the yucca con chicharron, masitas de puerco, lomo saltado, and a piece of tres leches, and can vouch for them all. The masitas de puerco was absolutely my favorite; the pork was so tender and the sauce was crazy savory. Truly I can't remember the last time I had something so good. If you are a fan of onions or pork I cannot recommend it enough.The staff was polite, attentive, and accommodating.I will say it is a bit small/there's not a lot of seating. We came after peak dinner hours (8pm) when it wasn't full, but if all the tables were full I could see it being a bit crowded and chaotic. Would be totally worth it in my opinion, but if that's not for you, just come later like we did.“
“Great local business. I got a bunch of different foods. Shrimp tacos, empanadas, pupusas, carnitas quesadilla, and tried the beef skewers from the new patio! The shrimp tacos are great, and having a lot of tiny shrimps inside is a great method, every bite has shrimp! Empanadas were delicious, they really should have a dipping sauce tho. The revueltas pupusa was my favorite; however I do wish the dough could be a little bit thinner. The quesadilla had a great fillings ratio and is great as always. This was first time trying the skewers, the beef was very juicy and well seasoned. It is inside a gas station, so don’t come here expecting a normal sit down experience. 10/10 recommend, even in an area like Montgomery County with a lot of Latino restaurants, this is worth driving to.“

“Came for lunch on a weekday. They offer a lunch special with soup and a main dish that seems to be a very popular option with the regulars. We opted for lomo saltado and escabeche de patitas (pickled pig's feet). The lomo was tender and delicious, accompanied by vegetables, fried potatoes and rice. The escabeche was perfectly cooked, not too vinegary. Both portions were very generous. Finished with tres leches and lucuma ice cream. The service was quick and attentive without being annoying. The place is well appointed and nice. Will surely come back to try some more of the extensive menu!“
“Been here dozens of times over the years. And the rumors are true. Easily the best pollo a la brasa place in the area. Chicken and sauces are reliably excellent and very reasonably priced. Feeding a family of four with room to spare for $22 is something you can't even do at McDonalds these days. Sides are limited in variety, but they're ok. Only gripe is the fried yuca is often chewy, hard, and/or dry. But skip that menu item, and you'll be fine.“

I wasn't looking for a touch of New Orleans, but they nailed the sauce, with chicken and shrimp cooked just right. Our other dishes were traditional: shrimp fajitas and chicken fajitas. Again properly cooked and seasoned. Plenty of components to add into the tortilla wrapper. We finished with tres leches dessert. Moist and sweet as it was designed. Is 4 stars harsh? I based it on other Mexican restaurants that are on this level. For 5 stars, I needed them to be a cut above.“

I was a little surprised by the menu but ordered one item from each "side." I got the cubano sub which is more like a steak and cheese than a Cuban, and the carne asada platter. The food was truly outstanding and that cubano sub really blew me away. It's a delicious, unique take on the traditional Cuban sandwich. The carne asada was wonderful and the portion sizes were huge. Some negatives were that the taquitos sinaloa were plain tasting, and the table salsa was watery/lacking flavor. Having lived in Montgomery County for 10 years, Uncle Julio's in Rio Gaithersburg has been my family's go-to for Tex Mex over the years. We've not liked the direction they've gone recently with their menu or pricing practices, so hopefully Villa Maya can remain a great alternative for the foreseeable future.“

“We were looking for a place close to a tournament our son was participating in. The reviews looked decent and the prices reasonable, so we decided to give it a try. This is the place where the locals go...and that's how we knew it would be good. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. The waitress was very friendly and attentive until it got too busy for her. We ordered the chicken, fries, maduros, papusas, a quesadilla and a sandwich. None of us left dissapointed or hungry. If you are in the area, this is worth a stop in to eat.Dietary restrictions: This is a easy place to go if you eat gluten-free since so many of the foods are naturally gluten-free“
“A nice surprise really. My appetizers were the civiche with fried calamari and a cheese pupusa. Both were delicious. The calamari dish had tilapia in it which was also great. For my drinks (which were the real stars) I had a blackberry vodka mule and a Cranberry orange margarita. Both were well made.“

“Love this Peruvian chicken place. I'd been going here ever since it opened. I hadn't gone for many years bc I moved, but came back for a visit and it's exactly as I remembered it. DELICIOUS!! I wish I had this amazing place near me now. Chicken is juicy and flavorful. The spicy green and mayo sauces complement the chicken so well. My favorite sides are the plantains and rice/bean (they are sooo generous!). Please go to Don Pollo. You won't be disappointed. And there's a very nice dining area as well.“

The prices are extremely reasonable for the amount and quality of the food that you get. This time, we tried the beef, chicken, and shrimp fajitas, the carnitas burrito, and the chips and salsa (I wish they sold it in bottles). The chips were clearly made while we were waiting...I've never had any like them! Absolutely delicious and packed with flavor and freshness. We're adding Juanita's to our regular rotation :)“

My chanco con yuca was very flavorful and the nacatamal was great! The queso frito was fine but the tajadas could have been thiner and the tostpones were a bit under cooked and different than what I'm used to. But overall we all loved our meals. “Place has a very chill environment. The cook is very sweet and polite. She made the food in prompt timing. She also served our food. My son and I went on a Thursday noon, it wasn't busy at all. Very quiet if you'd like to sit and eat in peace. Food was good, menu layout could improve perhaps add pictures to it to make it easier for people who aren't familiar with Latin food. “While on our way to grab some burgers, we caught a whiff of delicious chicken and decided to check out this chicken spot. Upon entering, we were pleased by how clean the establishment was. We placed our order and decided to take it home. The chicken was cooked to perfection - it was tender, moist, and full of flavor. We also enjoyed the sides the Yucca, macaroni and cheese, black beans, rice, and fried plantains. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and moist, but it lacked a bit in terms of flavor. Along with that, we also ordered a cheese empanada and a beef empanada. Both of them were delectable. Initially, we weren't given our empanadas, but the person who took our order saw how quickly we were leaving and ran after us to make we came back to the counter fetched for the empanadas. We were impressed by the customer service and the speed at which our order was prepared. The place was also very clean. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend it to others. The food was delicious with huge portions. The brought out the birthday cake that we brought, sang, and took back to the kitchen for cutting and serving.
