“We came here for my friends birthday dinner with an 8:30pm reservation. Our table wasn’t ready until after 9pm. The service was extremely fast though once we sat down. The restaurant was very big, the lighting and music were perfect, and it wasn’t too loud inside. I started with the Arancini which were AMAZING. Some of the best Arancini I’ve ever had. For mains we got the lasagna and Zucca. Personally my favorite was the Zucca, but my partner loved the lasagna. We tried the salted caramel “gelato” for dessert but I wouldn’t really call it gelato if it’s soft serve. It had a very strong caramel flavor. Overall, the service and food were great!!“
“Visited this place in DC last weekend with family and it's the best! The pre-dinner bar experience was delightful with excellent martinis. The waiter made it special by asking about our celebration. With a party of seven, we tried different entree's and everyone was impressed with the quality and portions size. The waiter was helpful with menu suggestions. We felt right at home 10/10, definitely coming back !“
“This restaurant is officially my favorite italian restaurant. We got sat prior to our reservation and attended almost instantly by our server Jordan. The food came out very quick. The quality of each item was top tier! I had the best calamari as it was perfectly crispy. We also the burrata, it was our first time trying it and we loved it. The portions were great for the price. The atmosphere was laidback and relaxed. The tiramisu was mouth watering!!Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp right next to stairs“
“Excellent service! Wonderful family! I have been coming here for pizza, wings, and sandwiches since 2007. This lovely business always keeps the food ready for their customers. The pizza slices are actually really big, unlike other pizza places.“
“I came here for dinner during DC Restaurant Week. I was really looking forward to trying this place out because I’m a huge fan of their sister restaurant, Daikaya. We made reservations, but were kept waiting after we arrived. To the manager’s credit, he made us comfortable while we waited with a drink and apologized for the inconvenience, which we appreciated. We were seated upstairs next to a large diorama of…well, I’m still not quite sure what it was lol. The decor in the restaurant seems disjointed and not at all cohesive. I thought it was odd.We started with the arugula salad which was fine. I also had the Brussels sprouts which were very good. I had a slice of the Tonari pizza and my friend had a slice of the Mentaiko & Corn pizza. Both were super delicious! The corn pizza has a very unique flavor that’s hard to describe, but it works. We also both ordered the Mentaiko pasta which was equally delicious. For drinks, I had the Daidai, which has zero alcohol and was good; it’s pretty fruity but not overly sweet. They were offering dessert when we were there, and we both had an espresso affogato. All in all, I thought the restaurant was great. They had recently opened, so I could tell they were still working out some kinks, but I think it’s a great addition to the food scene in downtown. The prices are also reasonable. I would return!“
“Quite possibly the best dining experience we’ve ever had in DC. My girlfriend and I went for our 3 year anniversary and it was the most incredible celebration! We were seated at the garden bar, and were fortunate enough to have Kae as our bartender/server. They absolutely spoiled us for our special occasion, from a celebratory glass of champagne to an extra dessert, we were truly wined and dined! I highly recommend coming to rose’s for your next special occasion!“
“I stumbled upon Tail Up Goat while wandering the streets, and what a delightful discovery it turned out to be. Walking in for dinner at the bar, I was immediately impressed by the flawless service. The staff struck a perfect balance between professional hospitality and genuine human connection, making my dining experience truly enjoyable.Unlike some other restaurants where servers bombard you with uppity culinary jargon and $2 words they learned in a staff meeting, Tail Up Goat provided a refreshingly authentic experience. The food overall was excellent, with only one minor hiccup. The pork tenderloin, while flavorful, was a tad dry, possibly sliced too soon. However, even my "least favorite" dish was still enjoyable.Unfortunately, my experience was slightly marred by a small issue. I was offered a glass of bubbles, which I assumed was complimentary but was later charged for. It left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth, figuratively speaking, but thankfully didn't completely sour my overall experience. It's entirely possible it was just a misunderstanding on my part that I should have clarified.Despite this minor blip, I would still highly recommend Tail Up Goat for its warm atmosphere, impeccable service, and delicious food. It's definitely worth a visit.“
“I really wanted to give a 5 star review because the food was incredible, however the service was slow for the price point. Plus, the 4% surcharge added onto the bill is deceptive. Our waiter explained that instead of raising their menu prices, they just tack on the fee. However, it’s not clear on the menu what exactly this fee goes towards. Why not just raise the price by $2 and stop fooling customers?I’d come back for the food for take away or to sit outside- the inside was cramped and very loud.“
“I love the ambiance of this restaurant. The food was tasty, the chef is bold in the pairing of bold & interesting flavors. A friend and I shared the linguine and the beef ribs. Both were delicious in distinctively different ways. The staff is super kind and helpful. Reservations are recommended, we got lucky and sat at the bar. The bartender Andrew helped to make the night enjoyable as well.“
“Checked out San Lorenzo for the first time the other night - I have been in DC for years, but just recently moved to the Shaw neighborhood and had heard good things about this spot. Christina the GM was super friendly and helpful, making me feel very welcome and the bartender I spoke to, Efron, gave some great menu recommendations. The Seafood Linguine was fantastic! Will absolutely be back.“
“Overall great restaurant! We just weren't ready for the kind of food that we got. We expected italian but it didn't feel as such. Also to be fair it was way finer dining than we expected but overall good spot and enjoyed it. Our waiter was good just spread pretty thin it seemed.“
“We are tourist & was searching for a place too eat since our first choice for dinner totally ignored us after we sat there 30 minutes we left. This pizza joint is absolutely delicious. The thin crust was delicious especially on the cheese pizza. The only negative thing I have too say is y’all charging too much for a house salad. I mean if you gonna charge $14 @ least give me something other than basic lettuce.“
“Today is a Wine Wednesday, so merlot samples were well explained by the staff on duty. He also shared the bottle special with a purchase. Thanks to them!I ordered a sausage/pepper slice. The crust bite cracked and folded with ease. The sausages, however, were missing. The peppers, on the other hand, snapped nicely.I’ll try the margherita and white slices next time.Crisp.“
“My girlfriend and I came in for Valentine's Day last night, sat at the bar, and were served by Kristen (apologies if I'm misspelling), who made sure we were taken care of, happy, and with FANTASTIC recs/cocktails/vibes. Killed it! Immaculate dinner, drinks and service from the team as well - the hosts were super friendly and understanding even as we showed up about 10 minutes late on a busy night for them. Medium-dark lighting and a very chill/calm atmosphere really made for a nice, intimate night. The Valentine's menu is a bit different than the normal a la carte menu, which is all the more reason to come back. We had the tortelli stuffed pasta, olive-braised lamb, roasted squash, tuna crudo, olive oil cake, and lemon semifreddo - not ONE miss all night. If you listen to nothing else in this review, get a garlic knot with your meal! In terms of cocktails, the "Brooklyn" and "Jalisco Ski Chalet" were AMAZING, but we really want to try the wine selection next time.Reveler's is a MUST TRY in DC!“
“Great experience all around during our dining experience. From the welcome to the good bye the staff was attentive and service oriented. Now the good part, the food! Culinary sensation found in each dish served to our table. Very evident that fresh ingredients and quality ingredients used in all dishes. Taste and presentation to match the most elite Italian restaurants I've visited. Highly recommended!!!!“
“What a wonderful Italian restaurant. Incredibly old school and charmingly interesting. They've been open since the 1970's and the decor is certainly very interesting. Clear chiavari chairs and white or pink table cloths. Not usual for an Italian restaurant. Some pink walls. Some blue. They haven't fallen prey to the trappings of 2024 decor. The food was excellent. We had the prosciutto and mozzarella appetizer as well as the calamari. Excellent. We also ordered the fettuccini bolognese and it was a little spicy but excellent as well. The staff is so kind and really take great care to ensure you have a nice experience. If in DC, you should really give this restaurant a try.“
“The service was extensive and the restaurant had so many authentic options to choose from. This particular restaurant was not that full when we ate for lunch. It was easy to get to with public transit from the center of DC and it was very much worth it with the entrees and drinks. The flavors were memorable and the prices were fair for the high quality of food given.Parking: I would recommend public transit, we didn't any parking options in this area.“
“A first date cancelled on my 20 minutes before we were supposed to meet. My super sweet server consoled me and even gave me a free dessert. The whole staff was unbelievably nice, and my Monday night half price pizza was delish. I've also had the pasta in the past and thought it was great, too. Cozy decor. I recommend.“
“Nestled neatly into Barracks Row, this longtime establishment offers an incredible cozy atmosphere. It's a fantastic family run business and the staff were great. The tortellini alla panna was delicious. The penne alla vodka was solid, but a little bland. I'm eager to come back to try more of the menu. Highly recommend to those in the area looking for a casual italian spot.“
“Margerita was our server and was very attentive but not obtrusively so. The food was phenomenal. We had the Short Rib Rizotto and the Seafood Linguine as entrees, and the Tiramisu and Riccotta cheesecake for dessert. I would definitely recommend this “
“This is our go-to pizza place! We always get carry out, as they only have outdoor seating, but the food is always fresh, the staff always polite and the pizza is always delicious. Pricewise, it's on-par with other local pizzerias, but the quality is so much better. PLUS, I have heard their sandwiches are also delicious.“
“If I could give more than 5 stars I would !!! Oscar our server was just amazing! It was I and my twin birthday and he made sure we were well taken care off, checked on us, asked if we had any dietary restrictions which made us feel so at ease! The food is so tasteful and really feels authentic not imitated, will definitely be back and recommend to my friends and family thanks Oscar for such a great experience !“
“Was on a trip to the area in April and had dinner at the Shirlington location. I am still telling people about the best eggplant parmesan I have ever had! Everything was excellent! Definitely would recommend to people going that way. I only wish I had picked up something from their shop to bring home with me for another time.“
“Wonderful and delicious pizza. Everything was great — the toppings, the cheese, the combinations. I was really impressed with this place. Some of the best pizza I’ve had and at an affordable price point too compared to the rest of your options in DC.“
“Wonderful experience from the moment we walked through the door! We had the ravioli and black truffle pasta, both were over the top fabulously delicious!! The entire staff was very attentive and friendly. Don't pass up this lovely restaurant!!“
“Had a lovely experience at Fiola Mare. From the food to the ambience, everything was exquisite and had an expert level attention to detail. My companion and I had a beautiful seat located at the front of the restaurant overlooking the Potomac river. The seafood was fresh and delicate -prepared with keen eye and attention to flavor. We enjoyed the tuna crudo, porcini & mushrooms bisque, and bristol scallop amatriciana. Thank you to the staff that made our celebration experience so memorable.Parking: $20 valet available“
“Great food, super cute and chic ambiance, and easy, prompt service. The menu has all the classics of an upscale Italian restaurant and the flavors + portions don't disappoint! I had the Burrata, the mushroom pasta, and the broccolini - all were well prepared and delicious. The price point is certainly on the higher side but nonetheless it's a cute and cosy spot that I hope to be back to soon. Glad to have this option in the neighborhood!“
“My husband and I were in town for our anniversary We highly recommend this restaurant. This restaurant is very high end and classy. The staff was super accommodating, even though they didn’t have any open tables, they did have the chef stable available and it was so neat watching the chefs at work. You can tell that they are really dedicated to the craft of Italian cuisine and everything looked so clean. The staff members always cleaned up after their stations, and all of their uniforms were kept clean, even working with pasta sauce! There is even a spot where you can watch them make the pasta. On our second visit, the manager even greeted us and chatted with us, since he recognized us from the first evening. We had the provolone garlic bread, The Cannoli Cake, Piemontese Gianduja, and the orange and vanilla gelato swirl. All of it was so excellent!!. For brunch we had the Smoked Salmon Benedict and my friend had the pancakes with a side of eggs. All of it still excellent!!“
“Whether it is date night with friends or just the two of us... This place is one of my favorites. It has a quaint and romantic ambiance. Not a place to rush through dinner! I love to start with a cocktail favorite, an Old Fashioned created in an old fashioned manner. Always like to try two or three apps, not the ones you click on, but marvelous morsels of goodness! Move on to a plateful of rich, delicious pasta, then pause. Toast to life after the pandemic with apropos Posecco. Slowly, indulge in the made-in-house Tiramisu...mmmmm. Need I continue?“
“The food was excellent, we really enjoyed the four cheese pizzas we ordered. The only complaint would be to let your customers know about the extra fees when you pay with a credit card. The waitress waited by the table for the payment so I didn't get to look at my bill. I felt uncomfortable and rushed and disappointed to see the extra charges.Reply: then it would have been nice to know that ...“
“This is a lovely little neighborhood gem. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, whether you come with friends or to enjoy a peaceful meal alone at the bar. The staff are friendly and helpful, service is prompt, and the food has been excellent every time.Vegetarian options: The overall menu is relatively small, so the vegetarian options are limited, too, but there are always apps, salads, and 1-3 solid pasta options. Everything vegetarian I've had has been delicious. Vegans will have fewer choices, but they are willing to modify dishes. Recommend scoping the menu ahead of time to see if anything will work for you.“
“A great spot for lunch - the menu is amazing and the serving sizes were just right. The restaurant wasn't loud and the staff were quite professional. The floor to ceiling windows let in plenty of light and the views of the waterfront are lovely.“
“Incredible, fresh ingredients on the lightest, puffiest dough you’ve ever had. Charming atmosphere, super friendly and attentive waitstaff and the owners are on-site and working hard. This is a family-owned restaurant and they are a delight! Authentic Roman pinsa! Highly highly recommend!“
“We felt like we were back in Italy! We could have shared a plate for two because they give you plenty of food.Dietary restrictions: We had the gluten free pasta and it was the best we have ever had in the US.Kid-friendliness: Mozzarella pizza and pasta ala pomodoro“
“The staff were all welcoming from the start. The food was AMAZING! The owner came to our table to check on our evening. We were very happy and I must say the Filet Mignon with balsamic glaze was one of the best I’ve ever had and I’ve eaten at 3 star Michelin restaurants . The evening was important to us as we got engaged that day. I highly recommend this wonderful little jewel of a restaurant !!“
“One of the only real “hole in the wall” places left in DC, you will NEVER find a better Italian sub than what you can grab here, but the G Man is the real star. The hard roll is the way to go, but they do offer soft rolls as well. Just a wonderful, family-owned no frills sandwich shop, an institution in rapidly changing DC.“
“Not only the quality is top notch, the consistency between their locations is even more admirable. I can go to any location and be happy. When you combine quality, creativity, knowledge, skills, the love and passion in what they do, this is what makes my stellina my home.“
“The service at Centrolina was amazing! I came on a busy Thursday night without a reservation and we were quickly accommodated. Once seated our waiter was warm and welcoming. He provided great recommendations and continued to check on us throughout our meal. Every bite was amazing and they had a great selection of mocktails. The vibe was buzzy but not to loud to enjoy a conversation at the table. Definitely a spot I will visit again.“
“Absolutely incredible experience! The tasting menu and wine pairings were perfect and the service is unparalleled. Our server was even kind enough to give us a hand written note with the specific wines we had so we could enjoy the memory again at home. Thank you for making my partner's birthday so special. And the take home breakfast pastries they gave us were too good to be true. Will definitely be back!“
“Visiting Bacio's from NYC. The pizza menu is a bit limited in range of toppings, but we made a custom pizza that was pretty good. The meatballs were ok, lacking seasoning in my opinion. The service is what stands out here, our waiter James was thorough and attentive! The ambiance was cozy, intimate, and casual.“
“Bella Indian and Italian is so delicious. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. I hope more people find this and come check it out. The last time we came they made a custom calzone for my boyfriend (Paneer Tikka). We'd love to see some Indian fusion pasta dishes!“
“We have an office down the street from the Vermont Ave. location. We cater lunch for our location once a month, it's always ready on time and taste delicious! Last month we cut it close on the order window, the catering department recommended alternatives if one of the items could not be made. The are responsive and the food always taste great! Highly recommend, for any catering order place at least 24 hours in advance.“
“Went there with a group of friends for a Sunday brunch. The waiter talked us into trying the Buono Buono Brunch since there were four of us. We decided to give it a shot, and we could not have been more pleased with our decision. We were worried about there, being too much food with the seven courses, but each course had the right amount of food for each of us. We left, feeling satisfied, not stuffed. The presentation of everything was great and the flavors were excellent. While I’m not a huge fan of Italian food, this would have me coming back for more. I would highly recommend this for a Sunday brunch of a party of four or more. You won’t be disappointed.“
“I Love Italian - and when I say this place has THE BEST MEATBALLS I've ever tasted - it's saying a lot! The mushroom gnocchi was light and delish! Not to mention the roasted cauliflower, burrata and garlic bread!! It was a feast and worth every bite! The staff was friendly, polite and aimed to please! The decor and vibe super cool. It was recommended to me by a local and when I visit DC again - this gem will be a first stop!“
“Came here with a group of 4 people for dinner. We had reservations but ended up having to wait about 40 minutes for a table to become available. Super busy restaurant... the carpaccio and burrata for the appetizers were amazing and we were ready to order a second of each. We all tried a pasta dish for the entree, all of which were great but felt that the ravioli option was on the light side. Finished off with dessert which was excellent.“
“Terra Mare is a great little place in the heart of Wheaton. It's got a decent spread of Italian fare, including brick oven pizzas, which they make right there in the open part of the kitchen. The cocktails there are decent, and the service is always friendly and great.“
“My husband and I went to Alta Strada for dinner before a show at the Capital One Arena. It was amazing. Their staff and team were so sweet and so much fun. They are clearly very passionate about customer service and their food! We loved our entire experience and already decided to make that our go to spot before shows!!“
“World class dining with smiling service. The food is amazing, and Javier was lovely, flexible and knowledgeable. We made last minute changes and they got us our orders to us perfectly food is very high quality. It is not cheap, however the food is still better than what you pay for. The best Italian restaurant in the DMV area. I also love that they make the pasta in front of windows so you can see.“
“Food was tasty and service was good. The tip was factored into the bill so there was no trying to figure out what the tip was supposed to be. A HUGE issue for us however was the noise level. We couldn’t hear our waitress, we couldn’t hear each other and ended up with a miscommunication that resulted in one of our party not getting what they believed they had ordered.“
“After I placed my online order, I saw all of these one-star reviews. I got nervous. I thought I had made a mistake. I wished I had seen the reviews before I placed my order. But to my surprise, everything worked out fine. I received my order 1 hour and 15 minutes after I placed it, the food was tasty, it was hot, any my order was correct. I will order from there again.“
