I became familiar with Mulushewa about a year and a half ago. I don’t remember exactly what my first show was, but I remember the feeling clearly: I walked in and felt at home. Over time, it has become more than just a restaurant or live music spot for me. It has become my go-to place, almost like family.

The live band, the singers, and the overall atmosphere bring so much warmth and joy. The music carries that special Ethiopian nostalgia — the kind that reminds you of home, memories, culture, and community. Mulushewa has also become a home for incredible Ethiopian artists, including Abegazu Shiota, Yohannes Tonha, Abdu Kiar and many other talented singers and musicians.

I highly recommend Mulushewa to any Ethiopian woman, or anyone who loves Ethiopian music, who wants to go out, enjoy live music, feel safe, and experience the beauty of our culture in a welcoming space. It is truly a special place in Silver Spring.“

“We were absolutely thrilled to work with Jess at Moreland’s Tavern for our wedding rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks. Jess was fantastic from start to finish, helping us create the perfect event and menu while staying within our budget. The upstairs of the restaurant was set up beautifully for our party, complete with a photo slideshow of us playing on the TVs, which added a nice personal touch. The dinner was delicious, and our rehearsal dinner guests couldn’t stop talking about how amazing the roasted chicken was! After the sit-down dinner, Jess and her team seamlessly transitioned the space into a more casual area where the rest of our guests could mix and mingle, complete with an open bar and light snacks. The bartenders, Jess and Max, were absolute pros—our guests certainly kept them busy and they did an amazing job keeping us and everyone happy throughout the night. Jess and the team at Moreland’s Tavern made our rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks unforgettable. As our neighbors up the street, we are so glad Moreland’s was a part of our wedding weekend as a favorite neighborhood spot we can revisit again and again. “I recently spent a week in Washington, DC, with 38 colleagues from our agency. Each evening after work, many of us explored some great spots around the city, like Old Ebbitt, The Hamilton, Joe’s Seafood, Le Diplomate, and Off The Record. While those places were all impressive, I found myself returning every night to Capitano Restaurant at the Canopy Hilton on The Wharf.

The people, not just the food or atmosphere, were what kept me coming back. I enjoyed one of the friendliest and most welcoming vacation experiences, thanks to the people at Capitano. Every visit seemed more like hanging out with friends than just going out to eat, and every discussion felt genuine. Meeting new people and having deep conversations was also made easier by the laid-back atmosphere, which eliminated the bustle and commotion that are often present in crowded restaurants and bars.

Nights like that just show you that great service is all about the people. The crew over at Capitano was the main reason I couldn't wait to swing by every night. If you ever find yourself in DC looking for good food, a great vibe, and a staff that makes you feel totally at home, you seriously need to drop in.“

The waitress informed us there was a larger party on the other side of the restaurant, and that is why our food was taking so long. A paying customer is a paying customer whether the party is large or small. I would like to give one more chance before I decide not to patronize this Hyattsville location again.“
