“Just had an excellent dinner at China Garden. Ambiance, service, and food was 5 star. Started with complementary special pickles served with wonton, sweet and sour souse and hot mustard. Wonton soup was full of pork wonton and tasty. We ordered Shrimp in Lobster Sauce, and Sweet and sour pork both or which were VERY generous portions and delicious. Took home enough for another complete dinner. Definitely looking forward to returning and working our way through the menu“

I came in for lunch and ordered the General Tso's Chicken, and wow - it exceeded all expectations! The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while staying tender and juicy inside. The sauce had that ideal balance of sweet and savory with just the right amount of heat, not too heavy or overly sweet like some places make it.
Every piece was generously coated and the portion size was fantastic for the price. You can really taste the difference when a restaurant takes pride in their cooking - this wasn't just thrown together, it was done right.If you're craving authentic, well-executed Chinese food, don't sleep on this place.“

“The prices are great here, especially at lunch. The pepper steak was prepared quickly and came out piping hot. There was no extra charge to get fried rice instead of white. I like that there's an option for soup or soda with the lunch combo, but I went with the egg roll.“

“Bravo to the staff of Eastern 89. I have gone here a few times and its always been delicious food, but especially today (Christmas Eve) I want to give a thanks to them because although the wait time was very long because they were over flooded with orders, it was absolutely worth the wait. I expected that maybe with being so busy, they might forget an item or maybe the food wouldn't taste as good as it usually does but neither of those things happened. The food was really delicious and the staff is very kind and patient. They are my favorite place to get Chinese food and everyone should give them a try. We got the General Tso chicken, Szechuan Beef, Crab Rangoon, Egg Rolls, Spring Rolls, Fried Wontons and Shrimp Mei Fun. All of it was perfect. Thank you so much, and good on you for being able to deal with this crazy holiday.“

“I just finished reading VERA WONG'S UNSOLICITED ADVICE FOR MURDERERS, and all the food Vera makes had me Googling the best place for Chinese Buns, since I've never had any before and the food in the book made me so hungry! There aren't any places near me, so we drove 40 minutes out to Frederick to eat at THE UGLY DUMPLING, and it did not disappoint! The food was AMAZING! I got the UD Bun sampler to try all the different buns Vera makes in the novel, and my kids wanted the Chicken Stir Fry Noodles. My husband ordered Orange Chicken and Fried Rice with Chicken, and we also ordered some Spring Rolls. When I tell you it was more food than I expected, I mean our table was overflowing! I tried the Taro, Mushroom, BBQ, Custard, and Scallion Buns, and Scallion and Custard were my favorite--my 2 year old loved them, too! So soft, like a pillow, and delicious! We brought home enough food to eat again tomorrow, and I'm so excited for it! This was an amazing dining experience, and we're already planning our next excursion back! Highly recommend!“

“I think the food here was exceptional, and it was made in a very timely fashion. The only thing preventing me from giving this place a 5 for food is that the food was a little spicier than expected. I got the General Tso's, which was very good, but way spicier than I have gotten in other places. I really liked it, but just be aware that when they say something is spicy, they mean it and it is actually spicy. That said, I will recommend this place to others.“

“My husband and I love this place. We go there at least once a week. Over the years we have discovered our favorite items and they are always good. My husband's favorites are: Pepper Steak, Moo Goo Gai Pan, Beef or Pork with Chinese Vegetables, and Egg Foo Young. My favorites are: Cashew Chicken, Orange Chicken, Moo Shu Pork, Pork Lo Mein, and Hot Sour Soup. There are still items on their menu I want to try. They have lunch specials Monday thru Saturday from 11:00 - 3:00. For 99 cents you can add an egg roll or soup to your lunch special. They are closed on Tuesdays.“

“When my family moved to this area over 15 years ago, this place was recommended to us. Still, after all this time, this is the only Chinese place in the area that I will order from, after sampling many in the area (Frederick/MoCo). They have the best hot and sour soup in the area. Actually flavorful. The cream cheese wontons are different, not as crispy as you would expect, but the flavor is great. veggies are always fresh and crunchy, never overcooked. Both the more traditional dishes and the Americanized dishes have great flavors. Food is always ready fast.“

“Our family of 7 stopped there on our way home from Abingdon, MD. They were so sweet! They set up a table for us, brought us everything and the food was absolutely DELICIOUS. I had barbecue boneless ribs and they’re the best I’ve ever had. They helped us throughout our meal. Highly recommend.“

“A lovely little place you can stop by and get fresh food made fast. I got the teriyaki chicken, white rice, and veggies for a healthy lunch! You can get fried rice or noodles as other sides, but I found my combo to be a pretty healthy choice.

“Visiting the area for the zoo ! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm smiles and the comforting aroma of fresh spices. I had the Thai salmon over veggies (spicy) with rice — perfectly cooked, flaky, and bursting with flavor. The crab wagons were crispy and addictive, the shrimp tempura light and golden, and the Neptune Feast, with its lightly sauced veggies and crab meat, shrimp, and scallops was absolute perfection. Every bite was fresh, vibrant, and beautifully balanced. Service was quick and friendly, and the cozy atmosphere made the whole experience even better. “My wife and I order from here all the time. All the Carry out Chinese places in Frederick are really expensive and not that great. This place is great! Sushi and all the regular stuff to. Sushi’s good so are the entrées. And it’s not stupid expensive. Small family owned. I saw review saying owner was mean but she’s always been nice to us.“
