Absolutely incredible food. The head-on shrimp was delicious as was the steak. Great wine and a cozy atmosphere also. Worth the prices!
One of our favorite places in Portland! We’ve only had wine and small plates, but this was our second visit and everything is consistently delicious and great service.

Wayside Tavern offers a cozy and intimate dining experience, with delicious food and attentive service. The restaurant serves top-notch dishes, including the halibut, broiled oyster and cod cheek, and asparagus. The scallop is particularly impressive, described as "melt-in-your-mouth" good. Customers can enjoy a variety of dishes such as tuna crudo, which is delicious though the citrus sauce can be a bit overpowering, and the beans with fennel sausage, which receives high praise. The cod cheek, battered and fried, is paired with a light herb tartar sauce that complements perfectly. The steak, especially the dry aged bavette in peppercorn and rosemary sauce, is cooked to perfection with a flavorful sauce and served with smooth mashed potatoes. The restaurant is known for its great food and friendly, knowledgeable staff who are eager to accommodate dietary restrictions. The cozy and charming atmosphere makes it a good spot for a special dinner. While the seating can be slightly cramped, Wayside Tavern remains a fine dining destination focused on exceptional cuisine, with staff providing smooth, attentive service throughout. Customers feel valued and well taken care of, and the overall vibe is warm and inviting. Some reviews mention interesting flavors and a rotating menu, which might offer new options on different visits.
