“Must try fries! We read about this being the can’t miss food item in Portland and everyone was right! Hot crisp and amazing! Got the flight of sauces and we were in heaven! Well done!“

“Fantastic food and service. Sat at the chefs counter and watching them prepare food was like watching a well oiled machine. Moving parts and working together perfectly. Chef found out it was our anniversary and sent us an extra dessert. Felt so special to have this kind of personalized touch!“

“Had brunch at this restaurant and it was fantastic!! The atmosphere in the hotel is cute. It used to be the newspaper building, so they carried this theme through. They have vintage typewriters on the wall in the lobby, so cute. Our server, Anna, was so sweet and kind! Food was sooooooo good. I would highly recommend this place. This is off the beaten path in Portland, it’s not in the port area, but the walk is so pretty to get to it. You can go up to exchange street, with so many cute shops. Definitely worth the short walk, especially if you’re there on a Sunday and all the other brunch places by the port have 45 minute waits.“

“I was initially skeptical because the Tavern had a number of reservations available on a long-weekend Saturday night.
Dumb, right?
What a great experience. I recommend the Sazerac, if you're into that kind of thing. The clams Casino, oysters, and crudo were all excellent, and the scallops are a dish I won't soon forget.
The asparagus was also extremely tasty, as was the steak au poivre.
Whomever does the sauces really, really knows what they're doing.
Overall, a wonderful dinner. Service was relaxed, attentive, knowledgable and personable. And the atmosphere was calm and fun, without being overly loud.
Would heartily recommend.“

“Great food but not a traditional server type of restaurant. You order your food in the front and they bring it out to you. Honestly, for an eat and go. I prefer it that way.
Enjoyed what they had to offer during brunch.
Bacon, egg and cheese on the crossant was delicious. The garlic dijon aioli add a nice dimension. Bacon was cooked perfectly with a crispy not to the point on being burnt. Potato fries was crispy but soft on the inside. Perfect combo!
Chorizo and potato skillet was also a great combo. Mix of delicious flavor all in one bowel that brings your mouth happiness.“

“Excellent food and friendly service with unique and inventive dishes. We made dinner reservations for a Saturday night and were seated when we arrived. The server was friendly and helpful and recommended 4-6 dishes for two people to share. The dishes were unique and came out as prepared and all very flavorful with quality ingredients. Some were a bit small for sharing but others were much larger and overall balanced out on value. The Lobster Popovers were very good but our favorite were two fall inspired dishes the roast acorn squash and mushroom gnocchi. We would definitely order all three again. Prices were reasonable considering flavors and quality however we skipped dessert as nothing on the menu interested us. A great place for dinner out.“

“I had super high hopes for this one. Not totally disappointed but also not eagerly running back for another reservation either. The hanger steak was admittedly delicious and service was top notch. I had fabulous company and we enjoyed our time but at the end of the day it comes down to the food right? Our appetizers fell a little short in flavor and we all agreed we should’ve just skipped the dessert all together. So the entree (the important piece) was great but for the price we were hoping we could’ve said that for the entirety of the meal.“

“This is a must!
The food was absolutely delicious. They take reservations so I'd recommend doing it if you are a larger party (2 or more). We got the opportunity to sit outside and enjoy our dinner. With temps being at 70deg and being from Texas, that was a real treat. I ordered the lobster (of course) with an appetizer dish of half a dozen oysters. Both dishes were perfect!“

“Very cute little queer friendly and affirming coffee shop/eatery/diner in Portland! We stopped in while in town visiting for some caffeination. These had to be one of the most perfectly made lattes we've ever had. Milk properly steamed to perfection, without any sweetener it wasn't the least bit bitter and had the best flavor ever. Service was extremely welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere, even just while waiting to get our drinks, was very cute. We'll definitely be stopping back in when we are in the are.
Parking: Street parking only and it looked in short supply, however, we got lucky and got an open spot right in front of the shop.“
