“We popped into Central Provisions today on our stay in Portland and I was blown away by this restaurant. It was a very intimate, beautiful space with amazing flavor. Our server, Andy, made the experience. They were very kind and made dining with an allergy a breeze. Do not skip Central Provisions when you come to Portland!

Dietary restrictions: Their allergen menu is wildly helpful. It's color coded and makes it very clear what is and is not safe, and whether or not an allergen can be removed from the dish. I have a severe nut allergy and I felt completely safe eating here.“

“Had brunch at this restaurant and it was fantastic!! The atmosphere in the hotel is cute. It used to be the newspaper building, so they carried this theme through. They have vintage typewriters on the wall in the lobby, so cute. Our server, Anna, was so sweet and kind! Food was sooooooo good. I would highly recommend this place. This is off the beaten path in Portland, it’s not in the port area, but the walk is so pretty to get to it. You can go up to exchange street, with so many cute shops. Definitely worth the short walk, especially if you’re there on a Sunday and all the other brunch places by the port have 45 minute waits.“

“A lovely side of vegie fried rice with delicata squash, radicchio, scrambled egg, mushrooms, and scallions. A delicious light, healthy meal after some Portland errands. The hot jasmine green tea is so soothing and uplifting. This places always a great choice for a quick, fresh, solid meal.“

“My husband and I had lunch here before an appointment nearby. This restaurant had delicious food. My husband ordered the Down east Ruben, which was made with deep fried haddock with Cole slaw piled high on the bun with melted cheese. He said it was delicious! I opted for the classic BLT. Again, the sandwich was delicious. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and ample bacon was piled on top. I watched a young man bus the tables. He was extremely thorough cleaning the tables and seating. He even washed the items on the table (salt & pepper shakers, ketchup and hot sauce bottles). This young man then set the tables for new customers. Being a bit of a clean freak, I appreciated this young man's work. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.“

“Wow! Calafia was a perfect venue for our birthday celebration. Six of us were very comfortable in their cozy banquet corner which was just right for our gathering. The restaurant is beautiful with an alluring glow and a casually sophisticated vibe. Every cocktail and dish was delicious, prepared perfectly with really fresh ingredients and outstanding flavors. Generous portions and great service. Calafia is a gem in Portland’s West End!“

“Excellent food and friendly service with unique and inventive dishes. We made dinner reservations for a Saturday night and were seated when we arrived. The server was friendly and helpful and recommended 4-6 dishes for two people to share. The dishes were unique and came out as prepared and all very flavorful with quality ingredients. Some were a bit small for sharing but others were much larger and overall balanced out on value. The Lobster Popovers were very good but our favorite were two fall inspired dishes the roast acorn squash and mushroom gnocchi. We would definitely order all three again. Prices were reasonable considering flavors and quality however we skipped dessert as nothing on the menu interested us. A great place for dinner out.“

“My husband and I have been going to Gorgeous Gelato for years. It's been a while since we've been but last weekend, we decided to introduce our granddaughters to it. The older one enjoyed trying blueberry sorbet and ended up ordering it. The little one is 3 so she opted for vanilla and chocolate. It's just as delicious as we remember. They really make the best gelato in New England. It's the closest one to the ones we had in Italy. Oh, and they have sfogiatelle (pastry filled with sweet ricotta) which was legit. Had one of those in Naples, Italy in 2017. This is not Naples level but it brought me back to the experience nonetheless. It's a bit pricey though (almost $7 each). Their prices have gone up and parking in the the city could be a challenge. These are the only reasons why we don't go more often.“

“We had a wonderful dinner here after getting turned away from 4 fully-booked restaurants in Old Port. Mind you, we started out disappointed, having not been able to eat at any of the places we'd planned, but our mood was quickly reversed when we started eating the food. This place deserves a much higher rating given the delicious food and attentive service we received. The Chicken Tikka Masala was amazing and the garlic naan was pillowy and buttery deliciousness - the best I've ever had. In talking with the staff, this restaurant has recently changed hands and the new owner and chef have really turned things around. Definitely worth a visit.“

“Order the veggie ramen to go after an event in Portland. Was starving and had somewhat low expectations. This place blew me away. Hands down one of the best veggie ramen soups I've ever had! The portion was generous, and the broth was OH, so good. Fresh veggies and delicious toppings. Also got the edamame which was cooked perfectly. I can't wait to go back and try more of their delicious offerings. 5 stars. These folks care, and it shows. Well done!

“The food was delicious, cocktails were good, and atmosphere was awesome. Bar staff and patrons were friendly and welcoming. We ate in restaurant area, food was a little slow and if you do the salad I'd suggest some of the extras (cheese etc). Even with slower service/ok salad, the atmosphere and flatbreads made up for it. I loved that you can do half and half on any size! Make sure you're going for the flatbread, not much else on the menu but they are so good!

Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian flatbread options, several unique, seasonal creations.

It was so good I couldn't hold a conversation......or maybe it was their margaritas!! My boyfriend would eat too much and would spend the rest of the afternoon lying around feelingsorry for himself. But that’s how great the food is. You can’t stop eating it. Now we split an entrée. “I love the aroma as soon as I open the door. It brings me back to my Italian upbringing. Today, which is my birthday, I am spending it alone. I decided that I needed olive oil, and a pizza. Off to Montes! There is a blonde girl who is always smiling, and there to greet you. Today we had a conversation about the olive oil. When the pizza was finished, she hand delivered me the pizza with a chocolate torta on top of the box. I was so surprised, and appreciative of her doing this! She completely made my lonely birthday! (At 57 we really only want to forget birthdays anyway!) There is one more thing she would never know! I just laid my mother to rest on Friday. It’s been a different week to say the least. Especially when your Italian mother would call you first thing in the morning to sing happy birthday to you year after year. Sometimes things just happen for a reason. Thank you again! “If you are looking for some of Portland's most amazing foods come here. Today I had their special which was a softshell crab dish that was out of this world. I have never had the same thing twice at MaMi because all of the dishes look and smell and taste so amazing I want to try them all. It's truly an experience.“
