I had the California burrito and asked to add cilantro and had no issues, in fact the person taking the order loaded me up with additional toppings and sauces that the burrito was filling enough for 2 meals. Also had the trio sampler (guacamole, cheese, salsa) with chips. Very filling. Great flavor profile. Will definitely be adding this to my list to return again.“

“I had 5 broken teeth and 2 large abscesses and couldn't eat much of anything but was starving. I was looking for something soft to gum. Thinking tamales or beans and cheese. Of the options the flour tortilla beef birria seemed to be the best fit. I ordered those, a side of beans and, a side of consomme. Was amazing. Just on the edge of what I can tolerate heat wise (I am a wimp). Great taste. I used the consomme to make birria ramen for a later meal. (Just beef ramen, 2 sticks string cheese, and the consomme). It was also great, very satisfying.“

The enchiladas suizas are exactly like I know them from México. The coffee.. im not a coffee drinker well I had that one for sure! The service is extraordinary, super kind and attentive. “Hidden gem—almost impossible to see the name of this little restaurant, so it’s easy to miss! But what a fun surprise when you do find it. Great drinks—I tried the Hibiscus Margarita, my hubby had the classic. Very tasty! The food had great authentic flavor and was very reasonably priced for Birmingham. I had the shrimp taco and didn’t love how thick the soft shell was, but the flavor was delicious and the sauce with the shrimp was yummy. My hubby and daughter loved their dishes. He got a steak special and she got the Biria dish.
The coconut cake and churro cheese cake dessert were fabulous and worth the calories!
Service was great, friendly and helpful!

“Me and my girlfriend ordered from this place and we got take out. I've never been here before. She's been here a few times. I got the chorizo hash with scrambled eggs, and she got a breakfast sandwich. The wait wasn't too long, and you could see when you walked in that they were making everything fresh and to order, so you are definitely getting food right off the grill. I got the food and took it home. The hash was amazing and seasoned very well, the chorizo was tasty and the eggs were perfect but the potatoes were the best. She loved her breakfast sandwich. We will definitely be back. This is now on my list for good recommendations.“

“They were pretty busy when I went in, but the worker took time to clean the station, wash her hands and change her gloves. Not sure why she chose that exact moment when people were waiting, but I appreciated it nonetheless. I got a bowl with beans, rice, salsa, cheese etc. The portions are huge. I watched her make a quesadilla and a burrito. I jave no idea how she rolled up that burrito and got it to close, but she did. The staff was friendly and did a good job. Food was quite good. “First time trying it and let me say I regret not trying it sooner. I was a bit hesitant but Chris was extremely helpful and made so many great recommendations. I had the quesadillas (chicken), chips and queso. The dessert was over the top. When I say I am not typically a big eater I tried some of everything. The best part the servings were ample enough I have left overs for a day or two. In addition to Chris the staff was welcoming and friendly. I will be back. Chris needs a raise for doing an amazing job!!“

“10 year later review: This place is even better than when it was Mi Zarape, so I’m changing it to a 5. It is way better than Cantina El Dorado in Auburn Hills (especially the basic margarita). Service is always great and we get in and out fast.

“Beautiful interior and exterior. The patio out front allows for outside drinks. The interior is clean! The staff was amazing during my first visit. Fun and welcoming to conversation. I got the maple wings and street corn (elote). I could eat that corn all day. So good!! Decent selection of mexican beers and some American alternatives. My second drink was a cocktail. It tasted as good as I expected :)

I accidentally double tipped. They add 20% gratuity to your bill. THEY HIGHLIGHT IT ON THE RECEIPT. I DID NOT SEE IT. I wasn't looking. I just looked at the total and made a second 20% tip. I AM NOT UPSET. I just feel stupid lol.

Parking: The parking lot across the side street is for the grocery store only but I'm not sure how strict it is. I went on a Saturday around 4-5. Livernois was packed for parking. I found a spot of the side street a few businesses away.“
