Not as thick as Chicago, and not as thin as a NY slice, it's in-between, and what makes it tastier is the composition of the pizza using Wisconsin brick cheese and in a rectangular dish with a buttery, crisp crust (the original pan was a rectangular automobile drip pan - how authentic can it get being in Detroit?). Buddy's Pizza is a chain serving the great pizza and it's popularity is evident by how crowded it gets, even on an early ~5pm Saturday evening, our group waited close to an hour. Fortunately, the bar is well-stocked with local brews served by responsive bar tenders and friendly customers. Our server was professional and very competent - even though it was very crowded, she was attentive and quick, bringing our pizzas and ensuring our drinks were full. They had tons of options which were not vegetarian so I’ll be back again to try those. I ordered a Funghi pizza which was basically a mushroom pizza and it was really good. We ordered some fries with cheese on them and some olives which we all shared and both were very good. One person ordered an Anchovy pizza and he said that was great. We also shared a bottle of Da Ma wine between the three of us. I just ordered a sausage calzone, ready and picked up within half an hour even though they were obviously swamped. Never before have I had such a great calzone.
