“CLK overall was an amazing environment and very family oriented. I would like to give a huge shout out to the manager from last night, I came in believing I had a reservations because I was celebrating my bday but also doing a gender reveal that was done Feb 13th for March 1st but it wasn’t in there system. Instead of turning me around her and some of staff maneuvered and make things work in my favor. The server we had started out great but then became a little rude and I don’t know if it was because of my party downsizing or what but the attitude changed. She started reaching over ppl not saying excuse me so I became a little irritated on my special day. I really wanted to experience more of the food but the way things went it just changed the whole energy for me. But everything wasn’t bad and like I said I truly appreciate the amazing manager from last night and I was told that the bartender that made the drinks was superb!!!! Thank you“

“Best wings in GR. I got sweet bbq wings, but also tried the lemon pepper and honey mustard bbq. All were amazing. The lemon pepper were my favorite. The owner was also really friendly and made everything fresh for us. Will absolutely go back and try more rubs/sauces!“

“Tupelo Honey easily became one of my favorite restaurants when it first appeared on the scene here in Grand Rapids. Since then, I’ve been a regular and have been treated as such. I’ve enjoyed their rotating menu, though I’m very sad to see so many of my favorites go, but I can look forward to new options. Over time, they’ve been accommodating for me and my food restrictions, and I’ve been able to enjoy the atmosphere with it being so conveniently located downtown. It's an easy go-to for a casual meal before or after an outing. Of course, I must give a special shoutout to the servers who are always very kind and knowledgeable, especially Charles. I have Tupelo Honey to thank for many celebrations, birthdays, and relationships I’ve built over time :)“

“Absolutely delicious! We stopped in on a Tuesday for dinner and were greeted with great service. We got the catfish, mashed potatoes, fried chicken, and mac and it was all amazing! I haven’t found anything so close to family cooking in a restaurant before. We both left clean plates. Will definitely be returning!“

“We arrived mid afternoon and split the “Two meat meal.” We chose fried chicken and fried catfish with green beans and candied yams (what, do you think we’d come to The Candied Yam and NOT order candied yams?). We were also able to have some of their Mac and cheese.

The chicken and catfish were delicious! The chicken was especially temperature hot and juicy, but I have to say that I liked the catfish even more!

The yams and Mac and cheese were excellent as well! The green beans were done in a Southern style, by which I mean cooked until very soft. Tasty, but personally I prefer them al dente with a more firm texture.

I believe this location does mostly take out orders so the dining area is limited in size and decor. But you’re here for the homemade recipes that did not disappoint! You owe it to yourself to give The Candied Yam a try!“
