Recently visited the Candied Yam for lunch with a Co Worker and highly recommend for anyone looking for amazing southern cuisine. Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but the owner also sat and had some great conversations with us. What an amazing place and look forward to going back and enjoying the food and people!!!
My mom and I stopped by Candied Yam Restaurant for lunch, and we had such a great experience! The chef, Yvette, was super cool, friendly, and full of personality. She had such a happy energy and a great vibe that really made the experience feel welcoming.
The cornbread was delicious—great flavor and, importantly, not overly crumbly. The yams were phenomenal! They had an amazing flavor profile with warm, comforting spices that really stood out.

Overall, I had great experience. All of the food that I had was second to none. All of the ladies working were very respectful and polite and welcoming. I ordered a pork chop a piece of fried chicken, collard greens as well as dressing. I completely cleaned my plate and the yams were the first things gone. I undoubtedly will be returning customer in the near future.

The Candied Yam Delightful Southern Cuisine (44th Street) serves very flavorful food. Some of the best catfish, with great breading and seasoning. Meals include fried hard catfish, collard greens, Mac n cheese, yams, baked chicken, and black eyed peas. The food is insanely yummy, always hot, and a great value. The dine in lunch special is a great deal at $10 for meat and 2 sides. The staff is warm, friendly, and always striking up conversation, making guests feel welcome like a big warm hug. It is one of the best restaurant experiences, excellent for a farewell brunch, and 100% recommended.
