Amazing smoothies (regular and i had the berries and cream protein smoothie amazing could of finished it before making it out of town. Fry bread tacos are amazing on Tuesdays (big as you head), fried chicken on Wednesdays is the best in the entire coulee region, and the beer battered fish and shrimp on Fridays is awesome. Get the beer battered shrimp; they’re huge! Everything is made fresh to order. Love Barb the owner too. Worth the drive.”

“The restaurant is beautiful and peaceful, just perfect! While it is rather minor, the waitstaff forgot to refill my requested beverage until nearly the end of our eating. The restaurant only had 3 other tables, so not a case of being too busy. In a restaurant of this caliber and price, I expect nearly 100% every time. Aside from that, we were very pleased with our choices: salmon and French onion soup.”

“These people are on top of clearing the tables asking if everythings good. The service was sublime! They are making fresh food constantly for their buffet! I haven't been there for 10 years but I'm glad this is where I chose to bring my family for Easter. The price is comparable to other diners around if not even a little cheaper now. They have really good mouthwatering food! The steak was incredible and bursting with flavor! The wait even on Easter was only about 15 minutes.”

“The pizzas were all great. You can order slices, which are 1/6th cut. The pizzas are made with Wisconsin cheese. We were told that they are going to a pizza convention in Las Vegas. They are obviously enthusiastic about great pizza. Highly recommended.”

“We love this place. I’m not usually a big steak eater, but their ribeye is spot-on. The scallops, shrimp, and seafood specials are always excellent. Garlic bread and mashed potatoes are crave-able. Stiff drinks, and always worth trying to save room for tiramisu. Look forward to trying the ribs soon. I’m always surprised that we only end up spending maybe $20 more for the two of us than we would at some mediocre chain. Make a reservation :)”

“Went to Buzzard Billy's on Thursday night for a 1st date. I have been going there as the only place I eat downtown La Crosse for years.This visit I tried a dish that consists of a chicken breast with a creamy brown Cajun shrimp sauce with rice. Fulfilling, flavorful but not overpowering. It was a perfect dish of something creamy and Fulfilling without being over powering.The restaurant was on a 45 minute wait so I would recommend calling to reserve a table. My entrée was $18 and filled me up perfectly with extra sauce and rice left over.All of the tables were full but our food arrived within 20 minutes.Definitely recommend!”

“If you're on a budget and looking for a lot of food,Taqueria Monarca is a great choice.Let's get all the great stuff out of the way.-The easiest menu to read and navigate-Taqueria Monarca will be the most Mexi-American restaurant in the area (no mental gymnastics when ordering)-A condiment buffet of homemade sauces, limes, cucumbers and radishes-Great place to have solid Mexican food and offers alcohol-Fun environment with indoor and outdoor seating-The CLEANEST Mexican restaurant (I dropped some sauces on the floor, I did my best to clean my mess. They came through within 5 minutes to give it a wipe down. I'M SORRY)-Whatever you select, you will get more than enough food to fill you upThe ordering system is very similar to that of Panera. Put in an order, you get a ringer when your food is ready. Pending on how much food you order, I got $40 for 3 plates, it can take between 5 and 10 minutes. More than enough time to navigate the sauce bar.In the sauce bar, you get the option of radish, cucumbers, and their selection of hot sauces. There are 5 sauces that are clearly labeled. If you have a high tolerance to heat, you won't break a sweet. The sauces are colorful and vibrant.My personal fav is the Avocado sauce, it was the most enjoyable and most flavor out of the 3 I had. In my opinion, the orange sauce (the hottest), the spice is as gone as a Wisconsin 2024 winter. The deeper smoky color sauce was okay.If you have a low tolerance for heat, the sauces offered may be perfect for you. While at the condiment bar, get your limes, it'll add more flavor to your dishes. You'll need it!I purchased Tacos, Tortas, and Quesadillas.The tacos at Taqueria Monarca are monstrous compared to other Mexican style restaurants in the area. A protein serving covers the tortilla surface. You are getting more than your fair share of food. It's a solid taco, at a great price.I got a steak Tortas. Bread was great. The steak was solid. The serving size was huge. It was priced right.The Quesadillas are also a solid choice.Overall, Taqueria Monarca has solid food. It's not as flavorful compared to other places that offer similar menu choices. But Taqueria Monarca offers some real value, for some solid food.If you're looking for a Mexican style restaurant that serves alcohol, easily ranks #1 for the area. Tight on a budget and want solid Mexican food, Taqueria Monarca is a great choice.You see the reoccurring theme: whatever you select, it's solid. I think Taqueria Monarca is better than the fast food Mexican style restaurants. The value is better, but the flavor is okay.”

“Had a craving for ice cream, and found this old time parlor. Great building and interior antique decoration. Waffle cones made on site, plain chocolate dipped and with sprinkles. Had a chocolate dipped waffle cone with snapping turtle, excellent! My wife has a plain cone with cherry chip and Irish cream, also excellent. Server was very pleasant. Can't go wrong with. Take your cone and walk around the riverfront.”

Usually no vegetarian option but will accommodate by subtracting meat/fish from any entree. Servers are knowledgeable, well trained (properly open a bottle of wine) and friendly. “The people are all very nice and friendly, but the prices were a little high for how much food was received. $7 for 2 super tiny tacos with meat, onions, and cilantro. $.50 more for a dollop of sour cream. My husband got a burrito for $14, and he also said it was good, but not worth $14. Also, the menu was difficult to process lol, but other than that, everything else was good!”

“Loved the atmosphere here. The baristas seemed a bit put-off to be helping us, especially when I didn't know you picked up the food at a window way in the back and I asked about it. My friend's coffee drink got forgotten, and one barista was way nicer after that. The coffee (some kind of rosemary mocha) was really amazing, as was the cinnamon butter biscuit. I would love to try more food and the brunch cocktails next time.”

“Have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere of the restaurant. Personal spicy favorites: pork belly w/sticky rice, papaya salad (Lao style), Thai spicy noodle, green curry. Close to the university for convenience & have seen plenty of customers stop in for pickup/takeout. Dine-in seating is limited, but smartly arranged. Free street parking & can vary, as it depends on if you find a spot out front of the restaurant or around the neighborhood. 5/5.”
