“Their tenderloin sliders are definitely an item to try . Tender steak done perfect & added pepperjack cheese & onion. So delicious . I will come back for that item !It was on a Thursday so it was trivia night & it did become loud & busy at times .We came back for Friday fish which was average at best but what was really great was it included the salad bar which offered a nice variety & 2 kinds is soup that were great .”

“Tried this local coffee shop. Fast service on a Saturday morning. My cappuccino was smooth, creamy, with a lovely toasty coffee flavor. This will definitely be a must stop whenever we are in LaCrescent!”

Other items we had were the rolls/ with various dipping sauces & chicken dinner . It was a Saturday night so it was busy but we didn’t have a wait. I noticed an outdoor volleyball court with people playing on the property.”

“The restaurant is beautiful and peaceful, just perfect! While it is rather minor, the waitstaff forgot to refill my requested beverage until nearly the end of our eating. The restaurant only had 3 other tables, so not a case of being too busy. In a restaurant of this caliber and price, I expect nearly 100% every time. Aside from that, we were very pleased with our choices: salmon and French onion soup.”

“Just SOUTH OF HWY 94 ON COUNTY HWY 35. Easy to find, and oh,I raised my 8 kids eating this food to feed them all the food groups.... Need I say more?? Nice country setting like we're home as well. Thanks guysKid-friendliness: My kids always were treated good. They clean up Incase if an accidental spills right away. I can't say more about the staff. They're always checking to see if we need drinks and all.... Great place to eat”

“Well done, I rarely give 5 stars across the board but this place earns them. Ethan our server currently enrolled at UW Lacrosse was very good. Ravioli was excellent. Foxglove cabernet is a great choice of wine. A wonderful place and a very nice evening.”

“This is such a great little bakery! It’s amazing to be able to eat anything. I’m not used to having so many options to choose from. I picked up treats for my whole family and even those who can eat regular gluten products thoroughly enjoyed them. “The pizzas were all great. You can order slices, which are 1/6th cut. The pizzas are made with Wisconsin cheese. We were told that they are going to a pizza convention in Las Vegas. They are obviously enthusiastic about great pizza. Highly recommended.”

“We love this place. I’m not usually a big steak eater, but their ribeye is spot-on. The scallops, shrimp, and seafood specials are always excellent. Garlic bread and mashed potatoes are crave-able. Stiff drinks, and always worth trying to save room for tiramisu. Look forward to trying the ribs soon. I’m always surprised that we only end up spending maybe $20 more for the two of us than we would at some mediocre chain. Make a reservation :)”

“Excellent gluten free selections (ask for the GF menu). And fantastic Creole seasoning. We were there at lunch. My wife ordered the blackened walleye with rice and coleslaw. I ordered the blackened catfish with rice and steamed vegetables. Portions so generous that we will not be eating dinner. We loved the atmosphere inside the restaurant. Also have the option of outdoor seating. Our server Olivia did a fantastic job. Never felt like she was hovering. We felt that the meals were offered at a fair price. We will definitely be back.”

“If you're on a budget and looking for a lot of food,Taqueria Monarca is a great choice.Let's get all the great stuff out of the way.-The easiest menu to read and navigate-Taqueria Monarca will be the most Mexi-American restaurant in the area (no mental gymnastics when ordering)-A condiment buffet of homemade sauces, limes, cucumbers and radishes-Great place to have solid Mexican food and offers alcohol-Fun environment with indoor and outdoor seating-The CLEANEST Mexican restaurant (I dropped some sauces on the floor, I did my best to clean my mess. They came through within 5 minutes to give it a wipe down. I'M SORRY)-Whatever you select, you will get more than enough food to fill you upThe ordering system is very similar to that of Panera. Put in an order, you get a ringer when your food is ready. Pending on how much food you order, I got $40 for 3 plates, it can take between 5 and 10 minutes. More than enough time to navigate the sauce bar.In the sauce bar, you get the option of radish, cucumbers, and their selection of hot sauces. There are 5 sauces that are clearly labeled. If you have a high tolerance to heat, you won't break a sweet. The sauces are colorful and vibrant.My personal fav is the Avocado sauce, it was the most enjoyable and most flavor out of the 3 I had. In my opinion, the orange sauce (the hottest), the spice is as gone as a Wisconsin 2024 winter. The deeper smoky color sauce was okay.If you have a low tolerance for heat, the sauces offered may be perfect for you. While at the condiment bar, get your limes, it'll add more flavor to your dishes. You'll need it!I purchased Tacos, Tortas, and Quesadillas.The tacos at Taqueria Monarca are monstrous compared to other Mexican style restaurants in the area. A protein serving covers the tortilla surface. You are getting more than your fair share of food. It's a solid taco, at a great price.I got a steak Tortas. Bread was great. The steak was solid. The serving size was huge. It was priced right.The Quesadillas are also a solid choice.Overall, Taqueria Monarca has solid food. It's not as flavorful compared to other places that offer similar menu choices. But Taqueria Monarca offers some real value, for some solid food.If you're looking for a Mexican style restaurant that serves alcohol, easily ranks #1 for the area. Tight on a budget and want solid Mexican food, Taqueria Monarca is a great choice.You see the reoccurring theme: whatever you select, it's solid. I think Taqueria Monarca is better than the fast food Mexican style restaurants. The value is better, but the flavor is okay.”

“We were looking for a new breakfast place to try in La Crosse and stumbled upon this one with a simple Google search. I have to say, I rarely give reviews but this one deserves a good one! From the minute we stepped in the door to the very end of our meal, we were treated like family! The staff were incredibly friendly. The coffee was so smooth, I had to ask the waitress where they get their coffee beans from. I ate the kimchi toast with an egg and a side salad, my husband had the breakfast hash with egg and potatoes, and our son had the French toast. I would highly recommend all of these meals (because I tried them all) to anyone who's looking for a gourmet breakfast in this area! We usually go to La Crosse Family Restaurant, but the DAMN Tasty is like 10 notches above this one! At the end of our meal, we took some smoothies to-go, and they were also delicious!! We will definitely be coming back! Thank you!!Kid-friendliness: We brought our 4 year old son, and we sat in a booth. He enjoyed seeing the baked goods and the beautiful plants on the shelf. The kids menu had the perfect kid choices on them, especially for our picky eater!”

Make sure you balance your consumption with a brisk walk/ bike around La Crosse - there are plenty of walking/ biking options!”

“Small resturant with limited menu options that are all excellently prepared. Menu changes frequently so no concern with lack of variety. Entrees include a few pasta, seafood and meat dishes. Usually no vegetarian option but will accommodate by subtracting meat/fish from any entree. Servers are knowledgeable, well trained (properly open a bottle of wine) and friendly. “Good food, great people! This bar and grill has a small town feel on the backwaters of the Mississippi. Sitting there you are reminded of nights in the country with friends. Cannot go wrong if stopping at Red Pines!”

“Loved the atmosphere here. The baristas seemed a bit put-off to be helping us, especially when I didn't know you picked up the food at a window way in the back and I asked about it. My friend's coffee drink got forgotten, and one barista was way nicer after that. The coffee (some kind of rosemary mocha) was really amazing, as was the cinnamon butter biscuit. I would love to try more food and the brunch cocktails next time.”

“The people are all very nice and friendly, but the prices were a little high for how much food was received. $7 for 2 super tiny tacos with meat, onions, and cilantro. $.50 more for a dollop of sour cream. My husband got a burrito for $14, and he also said it was good, but not worth $14. Also, the menu was difficult to process lol, but other than that, everything else was good!”
