“Sagra is an Italian Eatery above Piggy’s on Front Street in La Crosse. It was recommended to us by several residents. It did not disappoint. We started with an Arancini appetizer. We have had arancini before, but NEVER like this. It’s the best we have ever had. Instead of being rice heavy, it was cheese heavy. They were almost like a Wisconsin cheese curd. The pecorino, a mixture of Italian cheeses, was melty and delicious, especially dipped in the buttermilk dipping sauce. We also ordered the special appetizer, fried wax beans. The breading was very light, almost like tempura. The dipping sauce added the flavor. They were good, but the Arancini definitely stood out. For entrees we got a crawfish dish and a chicken dish. Both were generous portions, which allowed us to have leftovers for lunch the following day. The Crawfish Fra Diavola was filled with crawfish and was very flavorful with fresh ingredients. The Chicken Scarpariello was delicious. The polenta was rich and creamy. The chicken comes bone in and skin on, which keeps it juicy. This dish also had Italian sausage and fresh vegetables. I really enjoyed the Italian sausage as a contrast to the chicken. The only disappointment was when we asked the waitress what 5 dishes were on the “chef’s market menu,” she didn’t know and really wouldn’t elaborate. I wanted to try that, but at $58 per person, the requirement for full table participation, and no information, I wasn’t willing to take the chance.”

“Lovechild is easily one of my favorite spots for a nice dinner in LaCrosse! I absolutely adore the dark, moody, romantic atmosphere. It’s the perfect excuse to put on something a little sultry or get all dressed up and enjoy a beautiful evening out.

I almost always gravitate toward one of their pasta dishes, but truthfully, I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad bite here! The food is consistently wonderful, the service is attentive without being overbearing, and the wine selection is lovely.

There’s just something about the ambiance that makes an ordinary dinner feel like a special occasion. Such a gem, and a place I’ll happily return to again and again!”

“We had a great experience with The Pearl Ice Cream. We rented a cart for a graduation party. It was a hot day and the cart kept the ice cream just as frozen from noon delivery to 9:30pm when they picked up the cart. The delivery was super easy and a quick setup. If you’re looking for an ice cream treat for your party or gathering, definitely give them a call. All our guests raved about how good the ice cream was!!!”

“We hosted a rehearsal dinner at the restaurant. We were in the private area of the restaurant, and it worked out beautifully for our 30 guests. The food was excellent! The biggest hits - the kale salad, the bruschetta, hot honey pepperoni pizza and the bacon & fig jam pizza. Our guests enjoyed the variety of pizzas and the unique flavors offered. The pizza came out fast and the staff kept up with everything that was eaten. Sometimes even asking guests what they liked and if they had special requests. I was able to spend time visiting with our guests and not worrying about the food or drinks. We were told repeatedly how much everyone enjoyed their meal- music to my ears! I cannot thank Spencer and Tyler enough- it really was extraordinary! They far surpassed our expectations- not only with the venue- but the truly tasty food. If you are in La Crosse - do not overlook this place!”

“We stopped by last night around 7:15, and there was a good sized line. We weren’t aware that the store was supposed to close at 7 (the website says 9pm). The young man working was the only one there and he handled the line and the late closing extremely well. It wasn’t until someone came in around 7:40 and there were still about 3 parties in line that he told the new customer who came in that they were already closed and that we realized we were “those people”. I just wanted to take a minute to compliment this young man working. He really did a great job of handling a stressful situation, the line was long but you wouldn’t have known by how he handled himself. The customer service was great and so was the ice cream!”

“If you like cracker crust style pizza, this is pretty good. I did takeout and was surprised that they added extra aluminum foil over the pizza to keep it hot on the way home. It was still piping hot when I got there.”

“We had breakfast here. My husband ordered the special, homemade corned beef hash and eggs with homemade toast. I had steak and eggs with hash browns and homemade toast. It's been a few years since I've cleaned my plate and I definitely did here. Literally the best hash browns I've ever had. Over easy eggs were perfect for dipping that homemade toast. Steak cooked perfectly medium rare. If you haven't eaten here, you're missing out. Absolutely delicious!!”

“We love Diggers. Best in La Crosse. But a recent trip let us down. The classic bread crack to locals was gone. Fayzes provided it and they closed. Today People’s Food Coop brought Fayzes bakery back. Hoping the wonderful bread is restored!”

“The Root Note is a La Crosse classic! Only gotten better under Jared's leadership. I only wish they'd bring back the banana Nutella crepe from years ago, it was a childhood favorite of mine. Love all the events they host, and the friendly inviting atmosphere.”
