“Ordered pick-up from this spot tonight for the first time and it was excellent. Probably the best Thai food we've had in a long time and we have some great Thai options in Minneapolis. The pricing is great for the value of what is provided and the current cost of goods and they clearly labeled our curries as gluten free after I asked if they could please be made so in the comments after not seeing if they were GF. It was a thoughtful reassurance on the part of their staff. Our two year old loved the chicken satay, which were referred to as chicken popsicles, which is gross but peaked his interest. The mild curry was still a bit spicy for him but it looked good enough for him to try even with our warning. We will definitely be hitting them up again soon! Thank you!“

“Myself and my fiancé are from Northern Minnesota and were there in July of last year. There were a couple of minor issues with our visit that day, but the food was delightful. Our server suggested that the manager may want to speak with me in regard to our experience, given the nature of the issues that occurred, so I left my business card and honestly forgot about it, as it wasn't that big of a deal to me. Some time later I received a letter at my office from the manager (I found out later that she's actually the owner.) She sent me a check to refund the cost of our meal, along with a very nice note of explanation and apology. The refund was way above and beyond what was necessary or expected. She took full responsibility for the issues that we had experienced at her establishment that day in July. She also asked for another opportunity to serve us the next time that we were in the area. This was a very classy (but unexpected) response to what I would consider to be something that wasn't that big of a deal to me, but it clearly was to her. Given the high standards that she clearly demonstrated for her establishment, there was no doubt that I would honor her request for a second opportunity. This last Saturday we were finally in town again and were able to visit the Basil Café for a second time. We had an absolutely delightful experience in every regard! After our meal, I asked the pleasant young lady that was checking on us if the manager happened to be in on a Saturday. Well, that turned out to be her! Her name is Tiffany, and she is the owner of the Basil Café. I introduced myself to her and she not only remembered the letter that she had sent and the small issues that occurred on our previous visit, but she also remembered my full name from memory!!! We had a very nice conversation and she sent us home with some extra spring rolls that we enjoyed at home later that evening. Tiffany, I also run a business, and the way that you treated us and handled that situation is an impressive lesson in customer service and leadership. You didn't just recover us as customers, you created 2 raving fans of your business through your actions and demeanor along with your wonderful cuisine. You easily could have brushed off the initial experience that we had last year. And, while we weren't upset about it, we likely wouldn't have thought to ever return to your establishment if you had. Instead, you held yourself and your wonderful restaurant to a higher standard, and you made 2 raving fans that will return again and again and will recommend your establishment at every opportunity. Tiffany, thank you for a wonderful dining experience and thank you for a refreshing attitude and demonstration of personal responsibility that you so impressively gave. “I've been meaning to try for the last year and finally stopped by and had lunch. Ordered the Samosa and the Pumpkin curry and vietnamese coffee. All were really delicious. I will definitely be back.

“I’ve been here a couple of times now after my first experience. This is my favorite place to dine in Eagan now! The food is excellent! The flavors and portions are just right. The first time we went they got slammed with take out orders and where busy all through out our dine in. People coming in were just raving about the place and rightly so. Since then, they have expanded their place into the location next to them. The place is very clean, and the workers are very nice and welcoming. “Pad Thai and spring rolls.“

“I go to Mela once a week for the Pad Thai, spice level 5. It’s the only time I go out to eat and is a weekly treat. I love them, the staff is always very friendly. I have celiac disease, but have never had an issue with cross contamination. I would say that Mela is both celiac and gluten free safe in my experience and even has vegan options so overall is very dietary restriction friendly. I will say that sometimes it’s less spicy than others, I order level 5 but get what seems like a level 2. I just leave a note in the comments that say I want smoke to come out of ears from how hot it is and then I get the level of spice I’m looking for 😂
It’s fantastic and really the only place I feel I can trust with allergens. I cook everything from scratch and only eat out if I can’t make a better version myself. I recommend them to everyone. I have order once a week since moving to the area in June :)

“I ate here for the first time this week. And I felt that I was back in Thailand. I ordered Thai Noodle soup. (GUAY TIEW). I was stationed there for one year during the Viet Nam War, and ate Thai food every day. Went back to visit in 2019 for 3 months. Returning this winter to live there. Anyways, I have been to several restaurants in search for this dish here at home. And never could find one that was the same. Many were Vietnamese that served Pho and is not the same. It looks the same but the flavor is different. Only Thai cooks, especially from the Issan area have the secret recipe I guess. Guay Tiew is one of the top dishes in Thailand. Right up there with Pad Thai and Tom Yum, etc. I believe that it does not get noticed because there is not a long list of ingredients and spices like most dishes. Also had a perfect Thai Coffee and a Singha beer. The Lady that waited on me was the best one could ask for. Please try the Thai Noodle Soup, (Guay Tiew) for a treat.“

“Kindee Thai Kitchen in Minneapolis is a gem for Thai food lovers! My partner and I recently visited and were delighted with our experience. We ordered the drunken noodles and pad thai, and both dishes were bursting with authentic Thai flavors.

The drunken noodles were perfectly cooked, with a great balance of spice and savory flavors. The protein was cooked to perfection and the fresh veggies added a nice crunch. The portion size was generous, making it perfect for sharing.

The pad thai was equally impressive, with a sweet and tangy sauce coating the noodles, tofu, and veggies. The crushed peanuts on top added a nice crunch and depth of flavor.

“Typically go to the Rochester location so thought we would give a try. The food was great but the ambience needs a huge update. It made us question is we made a bad choice to dine in. While eating at one of the 6 tables people we continuously coming in and out to pick up delivery orders behind our seats. Again, the food was up to par but service was slow. Only 6 people total in the place eating while we were there. My husband was served his food first and I waited another 7 mins for mine to come out. That is kind of weird. He didn’t want to eat without me but wanted to eat his food while it was hot. I’m 50/50 on going back to the St Paul location to dine in“

“Tried this place out last Friday before a show across the street at The Parkway. Bagu could easily get a five star rating from me by addressing a couple things, but is a solid 4+ as is. The good: the food is FANTASTIC. Every single thing we ordered was delicious and carefully prepared, and a couple things were simply transcendent. The rolls we had were the Mama, Shinjuku, Curry and the glorious Fuji. We also had very good pork egg rolls and fresh spring rolls as a starter. Our server was attentive and friendly, even though the place was packed and turning people away. Prices are a bit high, as they are everywhere in 2024, but the food I got was definitely worth what I paid, which has NOT been the case in too many recent dining experiences elsewhere. The less-good: While they've made a laudable effort with the decor and furnishings, the space itself is...quirky. Definitely a bit cramped, even in the front/main seating area. The corridor shared by the kitchen entrance and bathroom entrances, which also houses the hand washing sink, feels rather perilous. Also disappointing was the beverage selection; they are temporarily unable to serve alcohol, which is unfortunate but understandable, but they also had very minimal non-alcoholic offerings. Tea, water or sparkling water seemed to be the only choices available. The sparse beverage selection seems eminently fixable, though, and the space is functional if overly cozy. Bottom line: honestly, I'd stand at a counter outside in the rain just to eat those rolls again. As it was, my wife and I had a lovely meal here on our night out. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.“
