Selam was absolutely delicious as my first full on experience with Ethiopian food. I've had similar cuisine in the past, but never the full presentation of meats and vegetables with injera.
We started with the lentil sambusa, which was shatteringly crispy. Incredible texture.

Selam Restaurant offers a delicious first full Ethiopian food experience. The food is absolutely fantastic, with the injera being the best ever tried—super spongy and fermented. The Selam combo is the star, featuring three meat-based wots, lentil/corn, salad, and pickled cabbage. Start with the shatteringly crispy lentil sambusa. Meals are served hot and fresh, with food arriving within 10-15 minutes. Portions are large; a one-person vegetarian combo can feed two, and the Meat Combo Platter, with four tasty dishes, easily feeds three or four. The lentil dish is the best Ethiopian food ever had, and the beef is very good. The restaurant is clean and cozy, with a family-owned vibe. Service can be a little inattentive or slow, and the decor is like a HomeGoods, but that is part of the charm. Payment requires going to the counter. Allow at least 90 minutes for a visit. The food is worth the wait and very flavorful, though some may want more spice.
