Absolutely loved this place!! The speakeasy vibe was incredible —from the out of the way entrance to the moody, intimate yet inviting vibe! The staff were friendly and attentive even with a packed house. The food and desserts were amazing, and I really appreciated the variety of non-alcoholic options. Volstead's Emporium Uptown offers a true speakeasy experience, from the hidden entrance to the moody, intimate yet inviting vibe. The staff are friendly and attentive, even with a packed house. The menu has been shortened from years past, with only a few appetizers and three entrées, but the food is amazingly good. Highlights include the sweet potato fries with Maytag Blue Cheese Crème Fraise, short rib gnocchi, salmon, and Caramelized Oyster Mushrooms Leeks with Creamy Polenta. The drinks are still amazing, with a variety of non-alcoholic options and the drink of the day. The burlesque show and jazz singer are fantastic, though there is no dance floor. Desserts like the Lime Crème Brûlée are excellent. The hidden room behind the bookshelf features a hand painted mural, a two way mirror, and a special button to alert staff, but has very limited availability. Volstead's Emporium feels like an experience, not just a night out. Rita Royale is the best.
