The staff and cook crew were great! I ordered the chicken Pho and it was excellent. I plan to return to try more menu choices.
Food tastes great and is always hot and fresh. Sam was our server several times and he always provides amazing service and makes you feel welcomed.
Ordered the regular pho ($14.95)—broth was too salty, meatballs were paper-thin, and portions felt pretty skimpy. On the bright side, the 10-piece hot braised chicken wings ($11.50) were incredible: super crispy, sweet, and tangy. Service was also on point with fast water refills. We'll be back for the wings and to try other dishes, but skipping the pho next time.

Based on the reviews, China Chef Restaurant is a welcoming family atmosphere with basic but comfortable surroundings. It is considered the best pho in the Maplewood/N St Paul area. The pho tai and pho ga are amazing with fresh, high-quality chicken and good broth. The combination special with curry chicken and vegetable lo mein is cooked perfectly. The fried rice, chicken and mushrooms, and moo goo are delicious. The veggie lo mein has many perfect vegetables. Sautéed snow peas, mushrooms, and broccoli have an excellent flavorful sauce. Tofu Szechuan style is also good. The homemade chili oil is quite spicy. The egg rolls were extremely soggy. The Bu Bu Platter and Vietnamese coffee are also popular. Servers are wonderfully attentive and friendly. Prices are reasonable.
