“All I can say is WOW! My husband & I went here for the first time last Friday and from the moment we stepped it we had the best dining experience we’ve ever had in the Kansas City area. Our server was Kortney and she was nothing short of AMAZING. She was attentive and made sure we were happy with our experience. Our drinks were always refilled at the halfway point, she checked on us at all of the perfect times and it was clear she was on top of it! She was friendly, attentive, & provided some seriously top-notch service. We ordered the crap dip to start and oh my goodness it was so delicious we were tempted to order another or. The dip was overflowing the bowl and everything was so FRESH. My husband ordered the pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon and he said it was literally melting in his mouth. I ordered the roots burger and was impressed that someone could take a cheeseburger & make it THAT GOOD. We will absolutely be back! From the atmosphere to the service to the food - EVERY single aspect exceeded our expectations. We cannot recommend this place enough!”

“Walked into Cooper’s Hawk for the first time not really knowing what to expect, and I’m glad I did. I love sweet wines, so finding something that actually matches my taste can be hit or miss, but the Spritzy Sangria Strawberry Rhubarb was incredible. Sweet, refreshing, lightly sparkling, and just easy to enjoy from the first sip.

Big shoutout to Alec B. for being awesome. He took the time to let me do a wine tasting, listened to what I liked, and pointed me toward the perfect bottle. Super cool guy, very knowledgeable, and made the whole experience welcoming and fun instead of overwhelming.

“AMAZING! I'm an east-coast guy living in the Midwest who's been looking for a great place for fresh seafood (sorry Red Lobster) for over 6 years. This diamond in the rough exceeded my expectations. While the majority of the US can't even find a place that serves King Crab (due to supply and demand escalated cost), I found a place that not only has it but has it at a very reasonable price. I had 1/2 lb King Crab, 1/2 lb Snow Crab, and 1/2 lb of shrimp. We must have been there for over an hour while I picked out every piece of crab meat. The way the dish came out was neat (I won't ruin the surprise). I also highly recommend the sweet potato fries. I would give this place a 6 out of 5 stars!”

“Stopped by Crumbl Cookies and had such a great experience. The staff was delightful and greeted us as soon as we walked in the door. The multiple self-service ordering kiosks made ordering quick and easy, and the counter display with samples of all the cookie offerings was a nice touch.

There were six staff members busy at work, along with one person overseeing the counter and assisting customers with orders. That same person prepared our order and presented it when it was ready, keeping the process smooth and efficient.

An easy stop for a quick treat with fresh, delicious cookies and excellent customer service. Definitely a place we’ll be back to visit!”

Well i ordered the 3 meat 3 side platter, got the burnt ends, brisket and ribs with beans, slaw and jazzy fries. Only thing I didnt really like was the slaw but everything else hands down was AMAZING!!!! The burnt ends just melt in your mouth, that jazzy sauce is addictive and they have a really good honey mustard as well. Also got the friend mushrooms, they use portobello mushrooms and they are a 10 out of 10 with the in house made ranch...... I will be going back, and it has me wanting this place over Jack stack and I grew up on Jack stack.”

“Filling Station BBQ is hands down the best BBQ around, and I mean that. The meat is always cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The sauce is unreal and honestly might be my favorite part. It just hits every time. The sides are just as good as the meat, which says a lot because most places treat sides like an afterthought. Not here. Everything on the plate is solid. I also love the old school Filling Station vibe. The location is great and the whole place has a cool, laid-back feel that makes you want to hang out. The owners are professional and genuinely good people, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. You can tell they care about what they’re doing.”

Our waitress and the entire staff were nothing but amazing to us coming over talking to the kids and making sure we had everything we needed. “We love coming to Shakin’. It is definitely a hidden gem. Sadly, tonight was a let down. We got here and there were several seats at the bar that we were told were supposedly “taken”. A large group came in and were told to take the seats. They were served quickly. We waited 15-20 minutes to even be acknowledged by the bar staff. Would have been nice to at least been welcomed and told be with you shortly. When the bartender finally made eye contact and came over, his excuse was “sorry, there’s only two of us!” We’ve been here when the place was packed and never experienced this service. We literally almost walked out. Miss the “old” bartenders who were attentive and quick to take care of customers.”

The walls are covered in signatures like a yearbook that never ended, the chandeliers are giving unexpected elegance, and the whole vibe is “we do what we want here.” Confusing at first? Yes. Charming five minutes later? Also yes.

Now the food… because that’s what really matters.

The lemon/blueberry pancake came out like it had something to prove—big, fluffy, and minding everybody’s business. The hashbrowns were crispy enough to make you forget your table manners for a second. And that omelet? Stuffed like it was trying to win a competition nobody else knew about and lying about all the secrets inside.

And let’s not ignore the mug screaming “I like big mugs & I cannot lie”… bold, totally unnecessary, and yet completely accurate.

Service was solid, food came out hot, and portions? Let’s just say it suck with us for a long while. Is it aesthetic? Debatable. Is it a vibe? Absolutely. Would I come back? Yes… because clearly they know what they’re doing back there.”

My daughter with a peanut allergy realized it after 1 bite thank goodness and with some Benadryl she's fine. I called after to confirm flavor and was told flavors rotate and to always ask what they were. They're not obligated to label peanut products but it would be nice if they did since it's a high allergen food :( They didn't even ask if she was ok. If you have allergies I would make sure to always ask and double check here.”

Recently I tried the hot honey pepperoni and as a pineapple on pizza guy I enjoyed the creativity behind it, and the salty/sweet profile. The pizza is cooked near a big open flame so there will be some charring, it's part of the allure, it's not burnt. I got a kick out of reading some of the recent one star reviews about this place. Seems to me like there are too many gluten intolerant Karens in the area, so keep an eye out for that. Service for me has mostly been good, but they do employ the youth and it's true that you'll occasionally come across an inattentive server or a cashier that tries to avoid taking your order. Would be nice to have a few tvs in the dining area.”

“I will forever be grateful for the bartender that was on duty Saturday night, January 13th. My sister arrived via Amtrak, but because of the snow and extremely cold subzero temperatures was not able to get a cab. She was able to stay warm inside the bar until a family member picked her up. She was offered a warm drink and pizza and the bartender even went across the street and Rescued her luggage. 🧳 He went above and beyond. If their service to patrons is anything like their kindness to strangers, this bar deserves even more than five stars!!!!!”

“HyVee catered my daughter’s wedding this last weekend and the food was phenomenal! The smoked chicken, brisket and all the sides were the best I think I’ve ever had. They also made their wedding cake and cupcakes for guests. So beautiful! They set up, bussed tables, took everything down and packed up leftovers for us. We couldn’t have asked for anything better. They make specialty pizzas by request as part of buffet. The cook and manager did a great job, not to talkative. The young lady at the counter , cashiering was really polite and pleasant. For the price , since it's your good place to eat.”

After waiting almost 20 minutes (thank goodness the card reader wasn’t working this time so I didn’t have to worry about a refund), I drove to third street and got the same order in less than five minutes. Both locations were equally as busy. Not sure what the problem is at Douglas, but they could learn a lot from 3rd st.”

“My wife and I dropped in for soup on a cold night. The soup (and salad) was delicious but we were both surprised that side of bread was stone cold. It all tasted fantastic and we had no trouble eating it.
The staff wasn't rude but they never said a word to us even when I thanked them at the counter as we picked up our food.
We dined in and the dining room was also quite cold.”
