“All I can say is WOW! My husband & I went here for the first time last Friday and from the moment we stepped it we had the best dining experience we’ve ever had in the Kansas City area. Our server was Kortney and she was nothing short of AMAZING. She was attentive and made sure we were happy with our experience. Our drinks were always refilled at the halfway point, she checked on us at all of the perfect times and it was clear she was on top of it! She was friendly, attentive, & provided some seriously top-notch service. We ordered the crap dip to start and oh my goodness it was so delicious we were tempted to order another or. The dip was overflowing the bowl and everything was so FRESH. My husband ordered the pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon and he said it was literally melting in his mouth. I ordered the roots burger and was impressed that someone could take a cheeseburger & make it THAT GOOD. We will absolutely be back! From the atmosphere to the service to the food - EVERY single aspect exceeded our expectations. We cannot recommend this place enough!”

“Walked into Cooper’s Hawk for the first time not really knowing what to expect, and I’m glad I did. I love sweet wines, so finding something that actually matches my taste can be hit or miss, but the Spritzy Sangria Strawberry Rhubarb was incredible. Sweet, refreshing, lightly sparkling, and just easy to enjoy from the first sip.

Big shoutout to Alec B. for being awesome. He took the time to let me do a wine tasting, listened to what I liked, and pointed me toward the perfect bottle. Super cool guy, very knowledgeable, and made the whole experience welcoming and fun instead of overwhelming.

“AMAZING! I'm an east-coast guy living in the Midwest who's been looking for a great place for fresh seafood (sorry Red Lobster) for over 6 years. This diamond in the rough exceeded my expectations. While the majority of the US can't even find a place that serves King Crab (due to supply and demand escalated cost), I found a place that not only has it but has it at a very reasonable price. I had 1/2 lb King Crab, 1/2 lb Snow Crab, and 1/2 lb of shrimp. We must have been there for over an hour while I picked out every piece of crab meat. The way the dish came out was neat (I won't ruin the surprise). I also highly recommend the sweet potato fries. I would give this place a 6 out of 5 stars!”

“We came to Firebirds Wood Fired Grill last night for our 24th wedding anniversary. We are greeted promptly with a happy anniversary once they found out what our name was from the reservation. We were taken right away to our table and greeted by our waitress who was absolutely Pleasant the whole evening. We ordered the lobster dip. It was absolutely amazing tasting. I ordered the salmon and shrimp and my husband ordered the steak. I will say the first steak did not come out as ordered, but the manager immediately corrected it and brought out an amazing steak. My food was absolutely over the top. The fish was not overcooked, that is a plus! I would say between the amazing food, our our waitress, the manager checking in on us, and a lot of the staff wishing us a happy anniversary as they passed by, it made our evening very special. To put the icing on the cake, our desert had happy anniversary written on the plate with beautiful decorating. I would give this restaurant a 5 out of 5. If you're looking for a wonderful atmosphere, great staff, great food and a great time I would say come here.”

“I have to say 100 out of 10 starts!!!!! A friend asked me if ive ever been, said never heard of this place. Well i ordered the 3 meat 3 side platter, got the burnt ends, brisket and ribs with beans, slaw and jazzy fries. Only thing I didnt really like was the slaw but everything else hands down was AMAZING!!!! The burnt ends just melt in your mouth, that jazzy sauce is addictive and they have a really good honey mustard as well. Also got the friend mushrooms, they use portobello mushrooms and they are a 10 out of 10 with the in house made ranch...... I will be going back, and it has me wanting this place over Jack stack and I grew up on Jack stack.”

“Filling Station BBQ is hands down the best BBQ around, and I mean that. The meat is always cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The sauce is unreal and honestly might be my favorite part. It just hits every time. The sides are just as good as the meat, which says a lot because most places treat sides like an afterthought. Not here. Everything on the plate is solid. I also love the old school Filling Station vibe. The location is great and the whole place has a cool, laid-back feel that makes you want to hang out. The owners are professional and genuinely good people, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. You can tell they care about what they’re doing.”

“We love coming to Shakin’. It is definitely a hidden gem. Sadly, tonight was a let down. We got here and there were several seats at the bar that we were told were supposedly “taken”. A large group came in and were told to take the seats. They were served quickly. We waited 15-20 minutes to even be acknowledged by the bar staff. Would have been nice to at least been welcomed and told be with you shortly. When the bartender finally made eye contact and came over, his excuse was “sorry, there’s only two of us!” We’ve been here when the place was packed and never experienced this service. We literally almost walked out. Miss the “old” bartenders who were attentive and quick to take care of customers.”

“Well, it was delivery. Love delivery but getting too expensive because gas costs are almost $4 a gallon. I love Papa Murphy's pizza. Just discovered lately I really like artichokes on pizza. My medium pizza was half off. So spent under $10 a person. After tax, delivery charge of $7.99 plus tip it cas over $21. So pizza 50% off was offset by delivery, tip and there was a service fee random. But the pizza was very good.”

The seaweed salad part of it was as expected; good nutty flavor and crunch. But for some reason it’s served on top of a iceberg lettuce salad that reminds me of some vintage cafeteria food. Definitely did not add to it and seem to just be there to take up space in the bowl. That’s my only complaint, will definitely return and probably just skip seaweed salad. Everything else tasted excellent and presentation was very cute and thoughtful.”

My favorite is the coffee stout (Madame X) and the Bearded Lady.

The service is usually very personable and inviting, and of course, I visit because it's a great place to relax and have beer while playing pinball. All their machines are tuned well and play great! I'll definitely be back.

In their haste, the taco pizza had no refried beans and no taco sauce, the extra cheese on the Cowboy wasn't there either. This is our first visit at this store as our location in Raytown closed. I hope our next visit is a little better.”

“I discover this place while ubering yesterday and the food smelled so amazing in my car I knew I had to check this place out. The food was excellent and tasted so good from the soup, crab ragoon. The best hot and sour soup I ever tasted. I had the Shrimp and Vegetable in brown sauce. I live 20 minutes from this place. Trust me it's worth the drive. Once a week I will be there.”

“Everyone who works here is friendly and helpful. Great pastries, delicious food and drinks. However our most recent visit we were given peanut butter cake pops. They weren't labeled at all. My daughter with a peanut allergy realized it after 1 bite thank goodness and with some Benadryl she's fine. I called after to confirm flavor and was told flavors rotate and to always ask what they were. They're not obligated to label peanut products but it would be nice if they did since it's a high allergen food :( They didn't even ask if she was ok. If you have allergies I would make sure to always ask and double check here.”

Recently I tried the hot honey pepperoni and as a pineapple on pizza guy I enjoyed the creativity behind it, and the salty/sweet profile. The pizza is cooked near a big open flame so there will be some charring, it's part of the allure, it's not burnt. I got a kick out of reading some of the recent one star reviews about this place. Seems to me like there are too many gluten intolerant Karens in the area, so keep an eye out for that. Service for me has mostly been good, but they do employ the youth and it's true that you'll occasionally come across an inattentive server or a cashier that tries to avoid taking your order. Would be nice to have a few tvs in the dining area.”

“I typically avoid Tex-Mex — not enough authentic flavor, too much cheese overload — but JP's changed my mind on a solo Sunday dinner that turned into a full-blown love letter. The place was packed and loud, which told me everyone already knows what I somehow didn't: this spot is popular for a reason.
I squeaked in before the Happy Hour cutoff at 6 pm and got a great margarita for under $6. Most places I go charge at least double that. I was swinging my feet and humming with delight before my food even hit the table, and my wallet was thrilled too. This was a budget-friendly meal that didn't taste budget at all.
The chips and salsa? Light, airy, not overly salty. The perfect vehicle for the smoky, spicy salsa you have to ask for separately (the house salsa is mild and onion-forward, so mixing the two is the move). The chicken & avocado enchiladas were rich, cheesy, and packed with flavor — if you're an avocado-and-cream-sauce person, get your life with this dish! I had an entire enchilada left for lunch the next day, so the portions stretch your $ even further. My only gripe: the beans and rice felt like an afterthought — maybe two tablespoons each.
But the real headline here is my server, Katie. She was single-handedly running a HUGE party in my section and still checked on me multiple times, genuinely warm and attentive the entire time — never once looked frazzled by a section that would've stressed out most people. She even sent me home with fresh chips and salsa in my bag. Katie, if your manager is reading this: give this woman a raise. You're the moment, and JP's just became my new go-to hideout.”

“I will forever be grateful for the bartender that was on duty Saturday night, January 13th. My sister arrived via Amtrak, but because of the snow and extremely cold subzero temperatures was not able to get a cab. She was able to stay warm inside the bar until a family member picked her up. She was offered a warm drink and pizza and the bartender even went across the street and Rescued her luggage. 🧳 He went above and beyond. If their service to patrons is anything like their kindness to strangers, this bar deserves even more than five stars!!!!!”
