“I treated my friend to lunch at Mint Sushi this week, and we had a MARVELOUS time!
From the outside, Mint Sushi is a modest storefront business in a strip center. But step inside the door, and you've entered an Asian teahouse that's welcoming and cheery. The walls are painted a bright mint green, with paintings of herbs and an entire wall of customers' photos celebrating their birthdays. The place is open and airy and the tables are spaced well so that one is dining in a communal place but can still carry on a conversation in some privacy.
Shelly and Lin-Lin were our servers, and they were AMAZING! Shelly greeted us and was a most hospitable hostess; when we asked for a table nearer the windows, she was happy to oblige. Both Shelly and Lin-Lin guided us through the menu, answering our questions and giving us thoughtful recommendations for food and drink choices.
Our meals were EXQUISITE! My friend had the Chrisnana roll and I had the lunch special of two rolls with onion soup. Both were plated beautifully; we took photos because they were utterly charming! The Chrisnana roll was delicious; the banana was surprising but melded with the savory sushi flavors. My California roll was a perfect blend of crab, avocado and cucumber wrapped in perfectly-cooked rice. And my Sweet Potato roll was mouth-wateringly delectable! There was a crisp topping on the roll which perfectly complemented the sweet smoothness of the potato filling.
Both meals were reasonably priced and served quickly. When my friend and I lingered to talk, both Shelly and Lin-Lin checked on us to ensure we had everything we needed, but we never felt rushed to leave. They were so friendly and genuinely happy to have us join them at the restaurant--it was such a warm and welcoming experience! We'll definitely be back, and we'll bring more friends! “After Gojo's on the Plaza closed in 2020, I thought the Hibachi experience was lost for those of us in the SE parts of KC. And while I had seen Siki from the outside many times, it's exterior, location, and parking lot kind of prevented me from giving them a shot. But never judge a book by its cover, right? It was the spouse's birthday desire for Hibachi, so I made the reservation. Making a reservation was the best idea - otherwise you might not get in on a Friday or Saturday night. Our reservation was set for 6pm, and they seated us mostly on time, but then didn't take our drink or food order for several minutes. Is was a Saturday Night and it was packed, so I can overlook this part, but the timing comes back into play at the end. Once the show started, it was pretty darn good. Fresh food started being cooked on the Hibachi grill, knife and spatula skills were well honed. Food was prepared well. It was very pleasant. But because we got started late, the time to sit around, enjoy the food, and make conversation with those at the grill was truncated so they could seat the 7pm guests. Be aware, if you want Sushi, ask for the separate sushi menu. Also be prepared to drop $100-200. But, for the show and food quality, I would definitely go again.“

“I will never stop recommending this place!!! Best sushi in the area and the best service too. No matter if there is only one customer in the building or they are packed the service is always top notch. My husband and I love sushi and this place is always our go to. I also personally believe this restaurant has the best chicken fried rice that exists. The portions are really great and the food is just amazing! Great cocktails too!!“
