“I went for late lunch by myself, got crispy spring rolls and a cup of Tom Yum soup with chicken. The spring rolls were crispy, but oddly mushy inside, with a pretty good dipping sauce. It gave me a lot of chicken and my soup, but it was difficult to eat: big pieces, impossible to eat in one bite, no knife on the table.I might give them another try sometime.I ordered those two items because I had been craving Thai food lately, had the same things recently at a place in Maplewood that did them much better.Modern, bright natural light, basic room.Parking: Typical strip mall parking lot.“

“We visited St. Louis for a conference and found this Thai restaurant near the convention center. Sure glad we did! The food was fresh, attractive, and well-prepared. We had the dumplings for a starter and then my wife had Pad Thai and I had the Thai Sweet Basil Chili Bomb. Amazing all around. Plus the young lady who served us was as polite and attentive as can be. I've bookmarked this place for the next time we're in St. Louis.“

“Good Thai food. Have had better but the flavors and drinks were all on point! In my opinion the service was below average I felt very rushed from the moment I sat down with my group. A few of the orders were not quite as ordered and a fair bit of confusion.Dietary restrictions: Both Vegan and Vegetarian along with gluten free options!“

“ABSOLUTELY incredible experience. Waitress was amazing, food was out of this world, their sake list was sick. Literally one of the best meals I have EVER had. We did omakase style and just trusted the waitress and chef to work it out. 11/10. Fish was so fresh and tasty. Everything was just WOW. i really want to try their new sushi place they opened up on The Hill (Italian neighborhood). Very difficult to get reservations here but well worth the effort.“

“This was very first time eating here. The cuisine is excellent! I had the lunch special, Generals chicken for $10.99. Fast, gracious, attentive service once you are seated. However, they never even made eye or greeted me upon arrival, or after sitting down. Make sure you initiate it or you may be "waiting to be seated" for awhile lol.“

“Basil India makes some of the most flavorful Indian food I've had in recent memory. Every dish I've tried is bursting with flavor, and is served temperature-hot, and spicy-hot (if you please). Vegan options are few, but those they do have are excellent. The wait staff are friendly and attentive.Yet I don't enjoy hanging out in the restaurant. It is too brightly lit (at certain tables, you feel spotlighted), the furniture is not comfortable, and, worst of all, it is loud. You will hear clamor from the kitchen, the loud banter of other diners, and music that is turned up too high. I enjoy the food immensely, but when I dine in, I want to eat as quickly as possible so I can get out of there. It's not relaxing. If Basil India can fix the ambiance, five stars all the way! In the meantime, I will keep ordering the incomparably zesty Vegan Tikka Masala for takeout.Vegetarian options: Vegan Tikka Masala is amazingly flavorful. Lotus Seed Thai Curry is a close second.“

“Had dinner this evening at Sen Thai. Sat at the bar. Bartender was friendly but didn't really ask me typical usually questions when ordering Thai food. I had the Tom yum soup, a crispy salmon hand roll ( as they have sushi as well) and crying tiger beef. I love my Thai food very spicy. With that I wasn't ever asked my spice level. My soup was good. The crying tiger salad was really good just wish it was spicier. I asked for Thai chilies in fish sauce to help bring more heat to it. Over all good food. Not super authentic but good. Would come back for sure.“

“I've been here twice - once for dine in and once more recently for takeout. Both were great experiences. This most recent time I wanted steamed dumplings for dinner and also got the veggie spring rolls. Everything was nice and hot. The spring rolls were crisp and not at all oily. The steamed dumplings were soft and tender. Everything tasted amazing, including the sauce/dip that comes with each. Even the soy-based sauce, which is often just soy sauce at most places, was clearly several steps up from that and had great depth of flavor. Definitely recommend.“

“The Thai food scene in STL has been in dire straits recently, with Chao Baan falling off hard and King & I departing for the county. So you can imagine my excitement when I saw Thai Kitchen was opening nearby. My meal last night was excellent. The yellow curry was rich with just the right spice level, and the rangoons were delicious. This will be my go-to Thai takeout spot from now on.Only issue is that their pickup procedure is a little unclear. It's supposed to be a no-contact pick-up, where you get your food from a locker in the lobby (unlocked via a check-in kiosk). But I guess Thai Kitchen isn't using that system, so I had to wait around a bit to ask someone for my food.“

“Fabulous service for dinner and the food was excellent as well. I met a friend here for dinner with me arriving early. So I started off with a beer and the "Hoy Jaw" dumplings that arrived a few minutes later. Shrimp, crab, pork all mixed and served with a sweet Thai chili mix that was perfect for dipping. Yummy and it was my intention to save half for my friend, I ended up eating them all. Oops.I heard that it was the Khao Soi was the thing to have, so that's what I ordered with chicken. It was flavorful, loaded with texture and delicious. A curry soup with Thai egg noodles and greens, I'd skip the crispy egg noodles on top next time as they were in the way a lot.My friend ordered a Pad Thai, asking for "9" level of heat. He spent the first half of his meal saying that he couldn't find the hot and the second half asking for more water. Funny. So there you go.A fantastic meal in a cozy little restaurant with excellent service from all the staff. Perfect!Vegetarian options: Lots of delicious meatless options!Parking: Read the signs carefully and don't block a fire hydrant!“

“Great Pad Thai and sushi. Clean dining room. Attentive staff. On one occasion,, I was there near closing and they started cleaning the restrooms and the chemicals reached our table through the air as they were spraying the tables down (terrible practice I frequently notice in restaurants - you should spray the rag directly instead while patrons are present for this exact reason). Now I just make sure I'm not there on the later side of dinner service.Parking: Practically empty lot as most (all?) of the other businesses in the same strip mall have closed.“

Veggie spring rolls were fresh, crunchy, umami + more delicious with the red sauce. Pork bun was rich flavorful, I love it! But I was hoping to get traditional cuke salad, all I got was lots of lots of sliced cukes with giant onion pieces swimming in watery sesame oil. Also the prices skyrocketed. :/ booo.. “It’s truly heartbreaking to see all of the people leaving negative reviews for this restaurant. The owners are kind hearted and hardworking people who have been contributing to St. Louis’ diverse restaurant scene for years- it’s important for hole in the wall family owned restaurants like Yan Wu to exist and continue adding to the social and cultural fabric of the city, as more and more go out of business or are replaced by characterless chains. Please take a second to try and examine why you are so quick to judge a minority owned business and label the owners as “rude” due to communication barriers or assume they are talking about you when they speak in their native language rather than impulsively attempt to put another local restaurant out of business.“
