Excellent anchovy toast, and the shrimp was succulent and flavorful. The veal meatballs were dry and not seasoned well. I highly recommend the lemoncello tiramisu. It was moist, light and refreshing. Excellent spot for dinner and drinks with friends or a date.
We had a lovely early dinner on the covered patio - the ambiance, service, and food were all tens! Thanks for a great supper, Esca!

We researched to find an interesting restaurant for a birthday dinner for our weekend trip to St. Louis. Part of my research is emailing the restaurant to ask if they can accommodate someone with a garlic allergy. Esca was the first to respond (in about 10 minutes!) and simply said, “yes!” That did surprise me as this is a Mediterranean restaurant. But they couldn’t have been more attentive or accommodating.

The restaurant provides a variety of vegetarian options and a menu full of flavorful dishes, including the signature La Escalivada with tuna, the pasta special, and comforting ragu polenta. The onion dip, stracciatella, wagyu beef, branzino, and Amish chicken are highly praised for their quality and taste. The cocktails, like the sage gimlet and Mexitalian champagne cocktail, are wonderful, and the house salad with its amazing vinaigrette is a favorite. The service is friendly and efficient, adding to the overall experience. The atmosphere is cozy yet elevated, making Esca a perfect spot for a special celebration or a delightful evening out, especially for those attending the nearby Fox Theatre. Despite reservations being hard to get, Esca is worth the wait and is considered one of the best dining spots in St. Louis.
