This review is kinda pointless, they are closing on 12/24/19 after 102 years in business. I was able to enjoy the rooftop biergarten a couple of years ago and really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Today we opted to eat in the bar because the restaurant kinda reminded us of an IHOP or Denny's decor. The bar on the other hand was warm and inviting with a fire burning to add to the enjoyment. I met a dear friend December 11 for lunch. The joint was packed nearly to the rafters between the diners and those waiting. Considering the crowd, we did not have a long wait. We got a two-table. Kinda tight, but we made it work. I was leaning toward a Cobb Salad. Then I moved to a Reuben without bread. THEN I decided on Wiener Schnitzel, which came with spaetzle and beets. Well sometimes the some of the parts adds up to a great classic spot. Sure the food and service is hit or miss. It's filled with old regulars and other long time customers. But the place has history and character. Grandparents brought us here and now we bring our own grandkids. They serve classic german fare which really isn't very cool or hip.
