“A great example of the seafood cuisine of the Gulf of Mexico coast with nearby New Orleans influence. Fully loaded menu with all the bayou classics. Seafood gumbo was probably the best I ever had. The blackened red fish in sauce was outstanding. The red fish was catch of the day and brought to restaurant earlier in the morning. Etufee with squash was like nothing I ever had. Incredible sweet shrimp. Local beer available with peacan flavor. Great service. Bartender very personable with great info, and stories about the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Very welcoming local culture.“
“We are definitely not locals here, but we heard from people we've met while here about this wonderful place. So we had to check it out. So glad we did. They have a large menu for a small place. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. We picked up a variety of items to try. If you weren't sure about trying it because it's a gas station, honestly...give it a try. Everything was delicious. And the people behind the counter are so patient and helpful. I highly recommend giving it a try if you haven't been there before ?????“
“This was the second time coming here, and it was not a disappointment! We had oysters, gumbo, Ceasars salad, and shrimp tacos, and to top it off, we finished with bread pudding. The servers we fantastic and the atmosphere was perfect. Would definitely recommend to friends and families. The only thing I would say is I wish the tortillas for the tacos were bigger!!!!“
“Unfortunately I have to be a bit negative, but there were positives. Not sure if it's normal but you pick your own seating. It took 15 minutes or more to get drinks and food ordered, it seemed longer. The food did arrive quickly. Wife got a cheeseburger and fries. She wasn't impressed. It was greasy and not flavorful except it was hamburger. My experience was better. I had breakfast, 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns and 2 pancakes. Fyi, the hash browns come with onions so beware, the waitress did let me know that. Phew, not into onions for breakfast. Everything was cooked exactly how I like breakfast, yum. My wife wanted a dessert to share, we got the Mississippi mud pie. It has a pecan crust, small cream cheese layer, next is chocolate cream, then whipped topping. You'd think it should be cool to cold but was apparently microwaved. Ugh. Once we got past the warm outer part it was much better cool. We were told the beignets are the best around outside of New Orleans but didn't try them ourselves. The atmosphere was quaint like you'd want from a local restaurant. Plenty of decor inside and out to match the name. It was mostly clean inside and out. I did get a little sticky something on my hand from pulling the chair out (syrup I'm guessing). There seemed to be enough parking for the restaurant size. I'd go back for breakfast:). Prices were a bit high, but for mid February 2024, sadly it's what we all deal with.“
“Absolutely LOVE the seafood at Danny's!! I order the crab leg clusters often, they offer spicy flavoring and they are the largest around. Reasonably priced, always fresh and made to order quickly. They also have an excellent variety of food for the people in your family who aren't seafood crazy. If you haven't been there yet, GO!“
“Waitress was phenomenal!! I'm so sorry to have forgotten her name. It was Thursday, January 25, 2024, before noon and pouring down rain. The atmosphere was very nice. The waitress was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their dishes. She was spot on about everything. We had the smoked tuna dip, and it was awesome! I had stuffed shrimp. It is different than you think. My hubby had the fresh Mahi. Wish I had taken a photo. We finished off with the special dessert Mardi Gras bread pudding. I am not a bread pudding fan, but it was very good!! Glad we gave this place a try!!“
“There are not enough words to say how absolutely AMAZING this food is. I had never had gumbo or bread pudding. It was amazing. I had an oyster pot boy. The oysters were gigantic and Soo delicious. When I come in February I am definitely coming back!!!! You have to try the bread pudding.“
“This place was phenomenal. The food was absolutely delicious and the location on the beach is gorgeous. It was a little windy so we sat inside but we still got to enjoy the view of the ocean. Our server Damian was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and was a 100% hit with the suggestions. We had a shrimp po boy, the shaggy snapper and the beach balls. Trust me on this one… the snapper is definitely what you want 10/10 would recommend.“
“Lauren was my waitress, and she was a doll. She suggested a different side for my crab cake entree, and it was possibly the best thing I ate! The crab soup was good, and the crab cake entree was really nice. I was able to score a table outside, and watching the sunset was really beautiful.“
“Seafood was delicious and service best around. Starr and Kyzmi don’t skip a beat and are super attentive and welcoming. Rest of the staff are great and want the best meal experience. Any new Seabee or Mississippian by highway 49, swing by it’ll be beyond fine!“
“Half Shell did not disappoint. The service, food, and atmosphere were all great. Many options to select from on the menu which made it hard for me to select as I wanted to try everything. The prices are reasonable and I look forward to my next visit when in the area.“
“Perfect little spot that my wife and I stopped in for lunch. We were greeted, and the food was fantastic. The owner I think, he's the guy that works the counter. He was such a doll. He laughed and joked with us.Places like this make me want to come back often. Great customer service is top notch for me. Always have been.“
“Good neighborhood bar close to the house we rented in Gulfport. Only complaint is the extremely limited menu when we went for dinner. Bar food sometimes just hits the spot, but our only choices were pizza and egg rolls. We got them and they were good and filled us up.“
“I went for the first time and had the Mama Burger. For the price it was excellent. Cooked to order so the meat was hot and the lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and condiments were cold. With a sweet tea was $6. I had a conversation with the owner and he could not have been any nicer. I will definitely go back and try his fried seafood. No ambiance but a good meal for an unbelievable good price.“
“We had a fantastic time with our server, while enjoying fantastic food and atmosphere. It was easy to feel comfortable talking to an old friend while marveling in the delectable dishes! I reccomend the shrimp nachos as an appetizer but be warned that it's enough to make it hard to finish your meal, even with two people working on them! I'll definitely be back and have nothing but good things to say.“
“We sat on the porch, looking out over the gulf. It was beautiful! It was a bit chilly, but the server ensured that I had not only one heater but 2 to keep me warm! The food was fabulous....seafood eggplant and the seafood omelet with mimosas!!!! Fine dining at its best....“
“First time dining at the Hook, top quality & fresh catch of the day! We had the triple tail with "The Pass" sauce which was a butter garlic sauce with crab & shrimp! Definitely rich but not heavy where it weighs you down! Had the bread pudding for dessert & it's the best I've had, definitely will be back!“
“The food is good. Our server was so nice, friendly, & treated me with excellent customer service. The food was good. It was just so cold in there. If you're cold natured please wear a sweater. The parking is pretty good.Parking: The parking is decent.Wheelchair accessibility: There's a ramp if needed to use a wheelchair“
“I'm in town on business from Detroit and had a fantastic meal tonight. I had the appetizer grilled shrimp tacos, a cheeseburger with salt and pepper fries, Mac and cheese and bread pudding. It was all delicious, and the staff were all incredibly friendly and attentive. It's deficiency come back and urge people in the area to come for a meal!“
“I was in town and looking for a place to eat near the hotel. We just so happened to find this spot. The name is on point. These were the best wings I've had in a long time. Staff was super friendly. Service time was quick. We will be back the next time we're in town.“
“Stopped by after a busy day when my hosts didn't feel like cooking. We took in the splendor of the setting sun as our food was prepared. Only limited seating here, but plenty of parking and things to do at this shore (volleyball, giant Connect 4, etc). Inland seafood doesn't come close to this! The blackened shrimp nachos were mutually appreciated. My counterparts enjoyed their tacos, and we closed out a lovely day together. Next time, I plan to try a Snocone!“
“The atmosphere, food, hospitality was OUTSTANDING! Every staff member was kind, courteous and helpful. They made you feel like family. The food was amazing! The drinks made by Mike the bartender was creative and delicious! Only addition would be to put a refrigerator in the bedrooms. Definitely will be back on one of my next adventures!!“
“I’ve been eaten here twice so far. First time was amazing! Ribs literally falling off the bone tender & the flavor was great. Second time, ribs weren’t as fresh & not as tender but the flavor was still there. The BBQ sauce for the ribs is on the sweet side with a hint of spice so I get mine on the side instead of all over the ribs, but it’s delicious as well. Sides were pretty good & the strawberry cake was very moist & delicious. Portions were good as well with the rib plate having 4 ribs, 2 sides & slice of bread. Love the R&B/Soul music playing and the restaurant is clean. Definitely give these folks a try because they have some great BBQ! Not to mention, they’re a black-owned business!“
“I mean ...it's a gas station. It's not dirty, smelly, or sticky...not even around the table.Food is fye, but the chicken tenders got crack in'em. Them white ladies throw down in that kitchen. Ion give a damn what they smokin. Jes keep that grill smokinYes it's fresh. I saw the fresh food tryna escape one day. I was tempted to have them arrested and thrown in the pot. But somebody walkin the road might be hungry. So I let God be God.Quick service unless you want it freshly dropped. Worth the wait.Parking: Chicken tenders and wedges“
“I had dinner at Salute and opted for the fried tomatoes and shrimp platter. The service was outstanding and our server was on it with stellar service of our group of 12. They have many many options so there is plenty to select from. It is located next to several other restaurants and within walking distance if you stay at the Gulfport Courtyard.“
“Not the most popular brunch spot yet so it isn’t too crowded, great atmosphere and super fast service. We always have a good time! Right on the river with a great view. Our server Desiree was super attentive and doubled as our bartender. We didn’t lack in service at all! ? “
“Bacchus is open every day. They run specials Mon.-Thurs. Food is really good although the grits are spicy. Haven't had a bad meal. Last time got a poor boy-first time shrimp, debris beef etc. Delicious!Parking: We usually park across the Street at the little hotel. You can also park next door down the hill-on the corner. The owner owns the whole corner.“
“Great seafood place. My family and I went after our son's travel ball game and loved it. The staff are super nice and the food was delicious. Our son requested that the next time he has a game in Gulfport, he wants to have lunch here again.“
“I don't have not one complaint the Customer service is everything. In the chicken baby the fried chicken Better than Grandma's. It's seasoned And fried to perfection Not over priced. The inside is clean. I don't have not one complaint 10 outta 10“
“Very good fried seafood platter. Found this place on complete accident and felt right at home walking in the two ladies at the front were very nice and were gleaming with suggestions. Food took a while but was definitely worth the wair as it was very fresh and hot. Will stop again if I am in the area.“
“Perfect local dinner! Great meat and vegetables plates. Filled with flavor and large portions. We had chicken fried steak with white gravy and hamburger steak w brown gravy. And a side of fresh fried okra. One waitress buzzed around quickly and handled everyone with a smile. Definitely go back for more!“
“If ur in town an craving some real crawfish this is the spot y'all am from Texas an oh boy. Am her visiting from Dallas Tx . All shucks is what we're used too . But this here is the real deal . The service was great everything was I feel like them 3/4 bad reviews was all competitive hell because us Texans freaking loved it. Check them out u won't regret it.“
“Even if, well, especially if you aren’t a dessert kind of person, whenever you are at Captain Al’s get the fried key lime pie. I don’t want to spoil the surprise of an unexpected treat. Key lime pie is always a treat. Fried key lime pie blows your opinion straight out of the water.“
“Walking into this restaurant swept me with a sense of nostalgia I couldn't quite place. It was like being at home and on vacation at the same time. I knew right away I'd be very satisfied with my experience here, and that rang true. Portions are a good size and flavor is great. You can tell the cooks at Martin's put effort into the small details that bring the whole dish together. I plan to return and bring a new friend each time!“
“Such a surprisingly pleasant experience! The cashier was more than patient answering my questions and even making great suggestions. This was my first time ever at this restaurant or any Captain D's. I am very picky when it comes to fish so I normally don't order any at fast food or restaurants. However, my husband said they have the best fish. So I ordered the fish and shrimp and boy was it great! Hot!! Lightly battered and had a gentle crunch. Not at all what I was expecting. And it wasn't "fishy" smelling or tasting which was a big relief. I guess to explain further, it tasted like fresh fish and not rotten strong smelling and tasting fish. Which was perfect for me! Even enjoyed the Mac and cheese which was worth the upcharge to change from fries. Bush puppies were pretty goid as well! Another one I'll add to my "I will be back" list ☺️- Also, the restaurant was very clean. Big plus!“
“This time was our first time sitting in the far back and let me say that was by far the loudest dinning experience we have ever had. You should think of putting up a noise dampening system for the back. But as always the food was amazing and service was amazing as usual.“
“I come all the way from Arkansas to get my fix at times lol. This is my favorite seafood establishment on the coast!!! I absolutely love them and I love the fact that they’re family oriented. Great service, great food, great prices!!! Don’t miss out people“
“We visited on Sat. Dec 16th for Birthday Celebration and we were not disappointed absolutely a wonderful experience, our food was amazing. The abeyance was perfect our waitress was Awesome Amelia she was great, very informative and knowledgeable with the menu. We recommend and look forward to our next visit.“
