Fried Catfish and pulled pork were the best in town when I ate there in college in 80s and 90s and remain the best that I have ever had. Good memories of the staff cooking the food and eating at picnic tables with friends.
Great food and friendly environment

The Little Dooey of Starkville is a popular and traditional BBQ restaurant known for its friendly service and delicious food. Visitors appreciate the warm atmosphere and the welcoming staff, including young employees who are eager to learn and provide helpful service. The menu features a variety of tasty options like fried catfish, shrimp, okra, hushpuppies, turnip greens, and standout dishes such as pulled pork with great smoke and cheese grits. The Triple Threat and Dooey Nachos are favorites for those wanting a hearty meal, especially with crispy smoked bacon and smoked bologna. Many customers enjoy the BBQ, though some find it a bit too smoky for their taste. The restaurant also offers sides like sweet potato fries, which may sometimes be soggy. Despite occasional busy days or minor issues like in-system orders, the staff, including Miss Tywalla, go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction, often providing free drinks or sauces to make up for delays. The Little Dooey is considered a must-visit spot in Starkville, perfect for family gatherings, celebrations, or catching a game. Overall, it is a place where good food and friendly service create a memorable experience.
