“We had an amazing time here. There were nine of us for dinner/drinks, and the service was fantastic. Each drink is beautiful, while also tasting good, and the food is delicious. Caesar, Abram, and the chefs allowed us to have a beautiful last night in Isla Mujeres.“
“Beautiful modern decor and sensational food and drinks. We had the jumbo shrimp and it was world class cuisine! The margaritas were on point and 2 for 1 which was great! The staff are very friendly and not pushy at all, don’t be put off by them not trying to coax you in, this place was a terrific find!“

“Milo is amazing. His Choripan is delicious. Yes, he does have a vegetarian option (though really, people). His coconut cookies are top notch. The service is excellent. If you want a five star street cart experience, this is the place to be! All for $150 pesos! I regret that I couldn't have eaten there more.“

“Very rich. We ordered chilaquiles and a fruit plate. Fast and attentive service. In the chilaquiles dish I would only ask that they add some more homemade beans and not canned or commercial ones. Prices were approximately $400 pesos for 2 people plus tip.“

“Variety of tasty food, we tried asada tacos, Alambre MAFER, asada quesadillas, all very delicious.
Also in the same place on Saturdays and Sundays in the morning they sell cochinita pibil, a true delight, the best we have tried by far, meat that falls apart after cooking for more than fourteen hours. The exceptional cochinita pibil cake. We will always return!“

“The best tacos I’ve had, ever. Stayed on Isla Mujeres for 6 days and went here 5 out of the 6 days. It’s a family run store and is definitely a “hole in the wall” but don’t let this stop you from visiting.
One of the few places that lets you buy single tacos (vs most places on the island that have you buy 3). Tacos are very well priced at around $2-3 CAD each and are so filling. Definitely recommend getting the carnitas.
I got the Huevos Rancheros one time and it was delicious, I like that they don’t have it on a bed of tortilla chips, but instead on a tortilla. Still prefer the tacos over this though.
Owners speak no English but are so kind and welcoming.“

“I highly recommend this place for both breakfast and lunch.
Breakfast: thin and tasty French toast, delicious fresh fruit, especially pineapple. Then I took a classic home bread with strawberry jam and butter, the bread was toasted just right, nothing to say. Espresso coffee served with a moka to remember the Italian spirit! Super appreciated!!
Lunch: shrimp burrito with various vegetables and melted cheese SPACE, we went back 2 times in a row because it's really good, it fills you up just right and leaves you with a decidedly wow taste.
Also the simple but perfect guacamole.
As they say in Italy: minimum expense, maximum return. Go there if you are in Isla Mujeres!!“

“Ate at Deisy & Raul's the first night on the island. Food was amazing as was the service. Deisy was awesome to talk with and was SO friendly. Want authentic food that is reasonably priced and away from the craziness on the north end? Eat here! 5 stars!“

“Really strong breakfast! Delivered complete with scrambled eggs. I haven't wanted anything else for days except a delicious egg. Here my wish was more than fulfilled.
Chilaquiles Verdes were also a real treat. It's generally wild to eat something like this to start the day, but every single calorie tastes great here!“

“My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner here! It started with Mezcalitas! Sebastian was our server and he made some mighty fine drinks! Dinner included Fajitas and Huaraches. Both were beautifully presented and so good! Excellent food! Sit outside and people watch or inside open-air and be more quiet, your choice. Worth the visit for sure!“

“Absolutely loved this place. Just a 5 minute walk from North Beach. The food is so so good. We ordered nachos to start, then a burrito and enchiladas, along with a piña colada and a tequila sunrise. DELICIOUS. Huge portions and so much better priced than the restaurants at the beach.
If you’re in Isla Mujeres, head up here for a great meal.
10/10!“

“Very friendly people and delicious food. We ate fried fish and natural lemonade. The only recommendation would be that they should let it be known that the soups are not available when they open. We'll be back for the soup!!
I forgot to take photos of the food but not of their pet who was enjoying life.“

“Off the beaten track but worth the half-block trip up the block from the main road in the west side of the island. Nicer setting than many places, up on the second floor. Not a huge menu, but decently varied. Friendly and helpful service.
Cheese empanada to start, and a chicken burrito as the main. The empanada was good and probably fresh, I could have done without the sour cream and lettuce on top. The chicken burrito was big and not closed like a burrito in the U.S., but still manageable to eat. Again I could have done without the lettuce inside. It had a spread of black beans, nice rice, the side of guacamole was tasty, fresh, and very limey, and they brought little dishes of both spicy and not spicy salsa.
The agua de Jamaica was refreshing—a tall glass with what seemed like cane sugar at the bottom. Order it without ice if you need that, although I didn’t.“

“Best burrito on the island!! Couldn’t not order el pastor of course after seeing this giant piece of meat! They added a mix of fajitas which added lots of flavor to the burrito. We ordered this after a day of drinking at the beach which was perfect!“

“We dined in for Javi’s chef’s table experience and it was phenomenal! The dishes were absolutely amazing. There was not a thing I did not find to be delectable! Javi not only explained his dishes he also shared stories and songs with us, along with his dad. Once again we had a memorable experience dining at Javi’s Cantina and Restaurant.“

“The seafood is really fresh, but they didn’t have whole fish when we went. The fish fillet was too tough, so I took off a star. Service was slow, which seems to be a common thing on this trip. Also, watch out for a 3% fee if you’re paying with a credit card.“

“Incredibly delicious and authentic food away from the tourist traps near the beach. Prices are also extremely fair compared to the rest of the price levels on the island. We will definitely come back.
An absolute recommendation!“

“Went here on a Weds evening for our anniversary. There were only 2 other couples in the place! Food was beyond amazing. I consider myself an expert eater of seafood. I ate the BEST lobster dish I have ever eaten here (Lobster Sergio Style). Here it is 3 weeks later and 1700 miles away, I find myself sitting here drooling when I think about it. Staff/Sergio was awesome. NOTHING to say negative.“

“Love this place! The reservation fee goes towards food/drink orders, price was reasonable, we spent the whole day there and each person was less than 50 USD. Free activities: snorkeling set (with ID) and paddle board. Arrive before 10am to avoid crowds. Food was delicious!!“

“Came to look for authentic food and not just what everyone is selling in the front part of the island. The front part is all the same and very expensive. Here at the little humble stand, the food is homemade, and very delicious. Definitely recommend this hidden gem.“

I went with the Marea Breakfast, egg/spinach sandwich with spicy mayo.)Gustavo was my waiter for all three days.Great guy and had the best recommendations for the island. Can't beat the sunrise view and the yoga classes at this spot. Then switch over to playa Norte for sunset.“

“Had delicious coconut french toast with chicken tacos, nice place. For breakfast brunch and lunch.
Can also sit upstairs with a bit of a view. Good and fast service.
Parking: Just park for free on the street“
“So grateful that this healthy and delicious option is so close to my house! Fast, so yummy, a great price, I love everything about this store!!!!
Vegetarian options: The best pita EVER! I don’t know what is in that sauce - but I can’t get enough! It’s got apple / onion / rice / i don’t even know what else - it’s heaven“
“This place is a MUST!! Get the salbutes and panchos, I’ve never tasted anything like them in my life. Unfortunately I can’t find any Yucatán food in NYC, so I will be dreaming of their dishes for a long long time. They make everything by hand, including their tortillas. The flavors are so unique, it’s super affordable, and the food goes down like water. You’ll want to order like 5 salbutes per person. Plus they’re run entirely by women!! Highly recommend if you’re visiting.“

“Ordered shrimp tacos, shrimp ceviche and fish filet. The tacos were good could use some spices, ceviche was perfect and fish filet was an amazing texture but lacking spices as well. Overall atmosphere is amazing and the service on spot.
Dietary restrictions: Clarification with pork and alcohol being separate for halal option“

“BEST RESTAURANT ON THE ISLAND!
Hearty and tasty, exceptional and caring staff.
We came back to the island partly to eat again before leaving to say!
No sea view but much more than that, a culinary journey not to be missed <3“
“Grilled chicken, beef, and pork.Tortas, tacos, and platters.Tortas Cubana is great, and can't go wrong with a chicken platter.Tasty grilled meats. Fast friendly service. Perfect place to grab some grub, cold drinks before making your way to the beach on Isla Mujeres.“
“The second time we have visited this inn and everything is simply delicious. Unfortunately, we arrived late and we could not reach Cochinita Pibil, it is the first thing that ends. In any case, what we ordered was delicious. They don't sell coffee but you can get it in the attached inn.“
“Without a doubt, what stood out this place was the attention. Enrique our waiter and the manager were super nice and helpful. I love when they recommend a dish or when they tell you honestly that a dish is too big and that you can share it.Thanks Enrique! You gave us a beautiful dinner. The next time we return to Isla Mujeres we will definitely return to this place!“

“Best authentic Mexican restaurant on the island and service was very attentive. It’s at the South end of Hidalgo walk of restaurants and shops, but worth walking the extra block! We ate at several restaurants, but this was the best value for the money!!! We went back to eat here again for a late lunch the next day.“

“A good place to be at the northern end, for the rent of two lounge chairs and an umbrella it was $450.00 and they let us use them until we wanted, however there was a minimum consumption to stay, the beverage service is efficient, the beers are in about $70.00, cocktails over $130. 00, the food is really nothing extraordinary, for the price they could have better preparation in their dishes, the staff is friendly in their service, however they spend their time attracting customers on the beach and block the view of the sea in front of the lounge chairs ? The bathrooms are unisex and are not clean, many people use them since they also rent them to people who pass by, however they are not attentive to the cleanliness, apart from the rest a good place to relax.“

“So good! Absolutely enormous tacos literally the biggest I’ve ever seen in my life (the fish taco was literally an entire fillet of fish) and soooo filling. Couldn’t even finish 3! We recommend the carnitas, pescado del día y los locos are the best!
Pro tip - if you go at happy hour (3 tacos & 1 margarita for 300 pesos) MAKE SURE YOU SPECIFY that you want that deal! The margarita that comes with the happy hour is much smaller, we got stung a bit with the bill at the end as we didn’t realise or specify that what we wanted was the happy hour deal and were brought our food plus regular sized (enormous) margaritas. But that was our fault :)
The complimentary 2 churros donuts at the end were also so great and such a nice touch. Muchas gracias!
Also big plus to the decor - absolutely loved it“

“The food was delicious and the service was great!
This was the best burger I have had in Mexico. It was huge and they didn't skimp on the thick tomato, the bacon, or the pickles. My husband had tacos and he said they were also delicious. Kids had a pizza and ice cream and sorbet. Yes, it was expensive for Mexico. However, half of the cost was a bed, which makes sense. There are a limited number of beds. If you were in the US at Myrtle Beach, you would spend at least $50 for a couple of beach chairs and an umbrella, so I don't get the complaints on cost. It's a tourist location. You can expect everything to before expensive.
Our server was a nice young man and they were quick to respond to our needs despite him being super busy.
My only complaint was that the DJ was a tiny bit too loud for my liking. It was not bad music, just a little loud.
Overall, I was super happy with ending up at this beach club and would return.“

“As other reviews state, the vegan burger is the only vegan option here, but it is a GREAT burger. My husband and I split one and had guacamole and chips as an appetizer. It was plenty of food for us. This burger has a nice firm texture, great bun, served hot from the grill. Really good….and we are picky about burgers and eat very few. Also our waiter Humberto (Bert on his name tag) was great, welcoming, interested in knowing that we found them on Happy Cow. Highly recommend. We sat on the small rooftop patio and loved it.“

“Solid local restaurant with good service and long hours on the Main Street on the west side of the island, with a big menu. It’s always a party, blasting music, probably to counteract the loud golf cart sounds that pervade everywhere. But there’s a large seating area and one can sit farther away from the speakers. The chicken enchiladas were tasty and came in a very generous serving. The prices were reasonable—average for the area, and if anything on the slightly lower end of prices. They have restrooms for customers.“

“Basto's is off the beaten path - and that's what attracted us to it. Go here to get away from the craziness of the north end. The owner's son was our waiter and took care of us. We told them to make us anything they wanted to. Delicious. Great little place - with great people. Go here, you'll be glad you did!“

“The food was very delicious! The owner was very friendly and great to talk to. The best ceviche we've had in Mexico and the chicken and fish tacos were also well seasoned and the best we've had on our trip. Coca Cola was ice cold and the michelada was also great.
Gracias por la experiencia.“

“I had the avocado toast and I asked to substitute the feta cheese per the vegan cheese. It came with potatoes. It was so delicious that first I doubted the cheese was really vegan. I asked the waiter and she showed me the package. It was the Violife brand and the cheese type is panela. It was a great experience and the coffee was good too.“

“Good atmosphere and good quality food, very good flavor and has access to the sea, live music and bar area. Only observation, they are a bit tricky when it comes to tipping, at the end of the day they force you to give them what they want, from then on, everything is fine!“

“We shared the cream spaghetti with shrimp. The portion was more than enough for 2 people. The sauce was wonderful, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. They also give you chips and salsa while you're waiting. We will be back to try the coconut shrimp next time. The service was wonderful. The owner came over to talk to us, and several other employees did as well. It's such a wonderful family environment.“

“We tried hamburgers with potatoes, very good, the only point that I didn't like was the ketchup... It tasted diluted to me, they can improve that detail... But I congratulate them for the excellent service and information they gave us, they explained several things to us about the island, they got us a golf cart with the best price they had offered us.“

“Have been coming to the Burro for years and it’s always such an awesome place. Almost every time I’ve been there is live music or some entertainment. We took the entire family recently and everyone had a good time and really also enjoyed the food. The fried chicken sandwiches they ordered looked as good as they tasted, at least that’s what they said, wouldn’t know because they didn’t share. Place expands every time we’re there and we will be back.“
