“What a great place to celebrate our birthdays. Two from KY and two from Augusta GA to enjoy celebrating all four of us having birthdays. Stuart who waited on us was EXCELLENT. We asked him about the damage to Asheville and we could hear it in his voice how hurt he was because others suffered so much. He was very gracious that we chose Asheville to celebrate our birthdays. I had the best shrimp and grits ever and I'm 73. Every meal the fried oysters, salads, Reuben Sandwich there is no negative experience. I hesitated to order the banana pudding but was intrigued by the description. So glad I did, it was so different than what I've ever had but the BEST I've ever had. Thank you to everyone working that day on 1/22 that wished us Happy Birthdays and made this such a wonderful memory for all 4 of us. Very welcoming, great personalities but above all GREAT FOOD.“

“They had a very large selection of ice cream and other dessert items. I chose a brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The vanilla ice cream was amazing! The brownie was insanely rich, so you definitely need the scoop of ice cream to balance it. The brownie was a bit hard. I believe it would have been better and softer if they would have heated it before serving.“

“I make my own ginger ale and this has made mine tasting like trash. The tulsi tea was exceptional as well. This has definitely been the most enjoyable ginger beer I have had.“

We were there for our 27th wedding anniversary and they gave us many nice touches -- glasses of champagne, a signed card from the staff, a small starter and small dessert -- that made the dining feel even more special. Our server was wonderful and all the staff were kind and attentive. Scrumptious food and gorgeous presentation.“

“My wife and I happened upon this magical gem tonight. We had spent the day in Asheville and were actually looking for a Mexican restaurant. My wife saw this and said that we hadn't had BBQ in a good while. So, we changed our plans. We walked in and noticed the awards on the walls and the Pride shirt. Every minute inside was amazing! The front of the house staff were all so friendly. The food was absolutely wonderful! When one of the ladies that works the dining room came to the table, she was warm, sweet, and spunky! “We dined at Zambra for a birthday celebration while visiting Asheville and were blown away by the fantastic flavor combinations, creative menu and the vibe of the restaurant. “My wife and I have made it a holiday tradition to dine at The Original Vinnie’s Neighborhood Italian every time we visit Asheville. If you’re looking for a meal that feels genuinely authentic and welcoming, this is the one spot you absolutely have to visit.\n\nThe Food We started with the house-made fried mozzarella sticks, and I’m not exaggerating when I say they are by far the best I’ve ever had. For the main course, I had the sausage, peppers, and onions, while my wife went with the twice-baked lasagna. Both dishes were delicious, high-quality, and more than enough to satisfy a hearty appetite.\n\nThe Service We did have a small hiccup getting a table when we first arrived, but the manager was excellent. Once the issue was brought to their attention, they stepped in immediately to make sure we were seated and taken care of quickly.\n\nOne Quick Tip The only reason I’m giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is the parking. It’s notoriously difficult to find a spot nearby, and since they do not take reservations, you’ll want to arrive well ahead of time to account for the hunt for a parking space and the likely wait for a table.\n\nIt’s a local favorite for a reason—totally worth the extra effort!“

“Recently went to Asheville for a long weekend vacation. We had our breakfast at Owl every single morning! All of the baked goods, sweet and savory, rival anything found anywhere. Delicious lattes are served by the most charming staff! I would drive back to Asheville just to visit this beautiful bakery.“

“There was a wonderful variety of items to choose from, it was difficult to decide. We would have gotten the jalapeño fries and cauliflower tacos but their main frier wasn’t working so we got the chorizo tacos, coconut curry and sweet potato Ruben which came with crispy homemade fries (they have a small frier that was working). We don’t enjoy vegan cheese that is made using Science so we opted for the cashew queso which was absolutely delicious. The tacos were our favorite item. The texture and taste were a solid 10 out of ten. Which made me miss trying the cauliflower tacos even more. The Ruben was our 2nd favorite. I usually have tempeh meat on a Ruben so I couldn’t imagine how they could make sweet potato taste “meaty” but they did. It was so delicious, I will be looking up how to make that “sweet potato meat” at home. The Thai Panang Curry was the only disappointment. It was fresh tasting and the tofu was fried to crispy perfection. It just needed more sauce. I got the Blackberry Ginger Mint mocktail. It was just the right amount of sour and was a beautiful presentation. Our only regret was not leaving room for dessert. If we lived in Asheville we would be regulars at this establishment. Our server was also Excellent! She was attentive without being intrusive. She pre-bussed the table and refilled our water glasses and asked if we needed another round and brought us our food perfectly timed! We went back the next day and had the Tostada Enchilada salad (it’s the choriso taco grown up), the Supreme pizza with no cheese (nice crispy crust and a good amount of sauce), the Amaretto Cherry Cheesecake (absolutely worth going back just for that!) the peanut butter cookie (the only disappointment) and the Lime Aid (perfecly balanced and not too sweet). But I preferred the one yesterday. Another wonderful server. Love this place! Updated from previous review on 2025-03-02“
