“Located at the north end of the Village of Avon, this small shop has great coffee, friendly service, and a casual, greeting atmosphere. The barista is more than willing to accommodate special requests. There's even a small children's area with books to look at for young families. In addition to the traditional beach gear for sale, they have a small, but nice selection of books for sale, and a bin full of stickers, for those so inclined to collect them. “This was our second time here but with more family and it did not disappoint. This was our last night of our vacation. Staff was friendly, our waitress was on it. Best service. Food and drinks were great. Live music was awesome. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful vacation.”

“We had their pizza one night and it was amazing. We returned the following night and ate in. Ceasar salad, Italian sub, fettuccine Alfredo, ham and cheese sub and fries were amazing too. Their prices are great too. My only complaint would be they close at 8:30 PM, but that is the normal for the area.”

“Genuinely the best little spot in Avon, by far my favorite in all of OBX. I visit Avon every year and keep coming back here (often times multiple times per day). Amazing people work here (my favorite part about this spot), the coffee is the best, tons of beautiful prints for sale by local artists - I could go on but Uglie Mugs simply cannot be beat. “I’ve been coming there every year since they were a smaller shop. This was the first year I was dissatisfied. My husband can’t stomach pickles, they put them on his sandwich after he asked them not to, the receipt showed the request. However when it came it had pickles. I sent it back, I know 100% they just took them off and gave it back within 3 minutes, so I complained and requested a new sandwich. They acted like they were mad at ME?! Excuse me, please do better. Sincerely a devoted customer, who will be back because the owner deserves another chance.”

“We had a rather large family party (17)! We were served efficiently and with courtesy. In all of the dishes and people served, I did not hear one disgruntled diner. Our drinks were delicious, the food excellent. We were served chips and salsa upon being seated, which was refreshed as soon as the baskets were emptied. I would definitely recommend if Mexican food is up your alley!”

“The young man working all alone tonight was amazing. I didn’t get his name, but dark hair and foreign accent. There were probably 20 people in line when we arrived. He served each of them efficiently and with a smile. When we were up to order, the owner decided to show up and take over. Fine, except that when he did, he started berating the young employee for “getting into this situation”. The only situation was the fact that he was left alone with a large volume of customers. We were really turned off by the owner’s behavior.”

“Ate there on my birthday. May 22. Food was great. I had the sheepshead and my husband had the oysters. Chloe, our waitress was wonderful. She treated us to a bowl of the famous chowder and chocolate cake. We loved it so much until we stopped on the way to the ferry and bought some frozen. Everything we ate was perfect..”

They are well priced, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the restaurant is clean with a fun atmosphere. Buxton Munch has been our favorite lunch stop for many years and is consistently our most recommended eatery on the OBX.”
