“I walked in on a Friday evening, 6ish. There were empty tables but the maitre d
asked if I had a reservation. I took a seat at the bar. The initial service was kind of slow but once I ordered my food was ready very quickly. I had the Hemingway Chicken, yellow rice and moros, paired with the grapefruit lager it was excellent ??. I will return to try something else on the menu.“

“Flyin Buffalo is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. The welcoming staff and cozy atmosphere make it a great spot. You can’t go wrong with the chicken fritters (with a variety of flavor options), burgers, strombolis, pizza, and wings. Their garlic bread is the best I’ve ever had. Occasionally, they offer buffalo pimento cheese—definitely add it to your fries, burgers, or tater tots for an extra kick. If you’re in the area, be sure to check them out! You won’t be disappointed.“

“I have eaten breakfast here many times when visiting the area but today was the first for a midday meal. I was not disappointed. The restaurant was packed but all were seated in a timely manner and our order was taken quickly. My sandwich was hot and the portions were very generous. Our server was cheerful and very attentive to our needs. I'm so happy to know that I have a place in Salisbury where I can enjoy breakfast and lunch.“

“We went on Friday morning around 10. It was packed and people waiting in line. We only had to wait about 15 minutes. I figured service would be slow since every table was full. I was pleasantly surprised that the service was exceptional. The food was also exceptional. We had omelettes with home fries. The home fries were out of this world. The green bean on my husband’s plate tasted like the can that they came out off. The fried okra tasted like it had been sitting awhile and cold. The only hot thing on my plate was the fried squash. Tour food wasn’t worth what we paid for it. I did notice that a lot of people left a lot of food on there plates uneaten. Will not be going back.“

“On my birthday last night , we chose to celebrate by going out to dinner at another local restaurant. What made this restaurant stand out was that they cooked their food right in front of us. A kind man politely asked us to switch seats with him so our kids could have a better experience. We were a group of seven seated with a lovely local family of three. We enjoyed conversations about sports and other topics. At the end of the night, we were delighted to discover that our bill had been taken care of ($343.24). We were sitting with the owner of College Barbecue! We regularly visited Salisbury to watch my niece play basketball at Catawba College.We are new to the food selection in the area.I'm excited to eat at his restaurant on my NEXT visit to show my appreciation. “Tried the Wild West Shrimp and Spicy Chicken Bites, both were flavorful and well-cooked. The Redrock Grilled Shrimp and fries were also great! However, the Texas Tonion was a bit too oily and lacked flavor. The service was great, and the atmosphere was enjoyable, making for a pleasant dining experience. Would definitely come back!“

“I'd say it's a secret gem, but the cat is out of the bag. I'm reasonably well travelled and it is my favorite place for BBQ in Salisbury. That said, Salisbury is my hometown and I am biased.

Salisbury has wonderful barbeque all over compared to other parts of NC--especially the more developed areas. College Barbeque around the corner IS the best pulled pork barbeque because they still have a smoke pit.

That's fine if you just want to away BBQ for plates or sandwhiches BUT, if you want to to dine in a place with solidly great barbeque, local charm and excellent service, this Hendrix near the original Food Lion (Food Town) is the place to go. They also way outshine other BBQ places in town for a hot breakfast.

Hendrix and College BBQ are right around the corner from each other; try both and see which you like best--be careful who you tell though, in Salisbury we take our BBQ seriously and it is not unheard of for debate over the best BBQ in town to ruffle a few feathers.

Parking: Lot is a mid sized lot, but the popularity has outgrown the parking space. If it's full you may need to park nearby and walk.“

“I grew up in Salisbury and lived there well into my adulthood. I live in Columbia, SC now but when I come back to town to visit my Mom, one of my favorite places to eat is at Checkered Flag. They’re food is really good but the hard working ladies who serve the customers is what makes it great. They take the time to talk to every customer at every table and it’s not just chit chat. They really want to know how you are and what they can do for you to make your visit perfect. They treat everyone like family but for those of us who come back again and again, we become family. Even for me, an out of towner, I even know two of the hard working ladies, Angela and Jen. Angela showed her hard working team spirit yesterday when, Jen, our server, was tied up with her other tables. Angela stepped in and took our order until Jen could get back over to us. This example of teamwork becomes contagious and I’m sure that Jen has done the same thing for Angela and all of her co-workers. Jen is such a joy to be around. Her personality oozes charisma and warmth and she makes you feel truly special because that is who she is!! I heartily recommend Checkered Flag for their great food and and their even greater people!! I rate them 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and 5 hearts!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️“

“I had a very disappointing experience when I went on Wednesday afternoon. The food was super awesome but the service was absolutely horrible. The management staff were rude, inattentive, and seemed more interested in chatting with each other than actually doing their job. We had to wait far too long to place our order, and when we finally did, the manager acted like they were doing us a favor. To make matters worse, they messed up our order and didn’t even apologize for the mistake. Instead, they argued with us and took forever to bring out the correct dishes. It completely ruined the dining experience. If you value good service, I would suggest avoiding this place. There are plenty of other restaurants with better staff and a more welcoming atmosphere. This was a waste of time and money. 2 out of 10 wouldn't recommend“

“I was in town for a Graduation Ceremony, and Graduate and I wanted to eat and find a Hibachi Restaurant. She asked around and many people recommended Ichiban Japanese Seafood & Steakhouse. We arrived at the restaurant at 3:30,the restaurant didn’t open until 4:00. The parking lot eventually was filling up, that was a good sign for me. The restaurant opened promptly at 4:00, was greeted at the door, which was another good sign. We had to let them know how many were in our party, had a short wait to be seated at Hibachi table with two other families, they were all very friendly. Drink orders were taken promptly. I had a very good Margarita, the salad with shrimp dressing was good. I ordered steak, shrimp and chicken with fried rice and veggies. The hibachi chef was very entertaining and we all enjoyed watching him work his magic. The food was filling and scrumptious, the chef made sure our plates were plentiful!! Couldn’t eat it all, so had leftovers. The restaurant itself is clean and attractive I can see why it’s such a popular place. Truly enjoyed my visit and recommend you try them if you have not. “We are photographers and tried Johnny's Farmhouse Restaurant after shooting a wedding this evening in Concord. It was an hour before close and our sweet waitress gave us just as much attention as if it was the middle of the day. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable. When we received our meals, we were delightfully surprised at the size of the portions. I had the quarter fried chicken and my husband had the maple pork chop. We had squash, roasted baby potatoes, and green beans. We also had cornbread and rolls. Everything was fresh and homemade! We highly recommend Johnny's Farmhouse Restaurant if you are in Concord!“
