“Wow. Yum. Just ate the lunch Veg Special. Eight sides all delicious. Nothing plain about this food. Each side was full of delicious Indian spices. I loved it!
Chai tea was great also.
Simple plain small restaurant but nothing was plain about the food. I’m working again in the area tomorrow and plan to return for the non vegetarian lunch special.“
“Step into the bustling heart of Durham's local food scene at the Farmers' Market, where hipsters and hippies rub elbows with tech professionals and international academics. Nestled under the Pavilion at Durham Central Park since 2007, this producer-only market is a Saturday morning ritual for many Durhamites.
As you weave through the stalls, you'll spot earnest volunteers manning voter registration tables, their clipboards at the ready. The air hums with conversation – young professionals debating the merits of heirloom tomatoes, while bearded grad students chat excitedly about the latest microbrews.
Dog lovers, rejoice! Four-legged friends are welcome here, adding to the lively atmosphere as they sniff out treats and make new canine acquaintances. The market is a paradise for people-watching, offering a perfect cross-section of Durham's diverse population.
Vendors showcase an eclectic array of wares that go far beyond your typical farmers' market fare. Alongside the expected fresh produce, you'll find handcrafted jewelry, artisanal soaps, and even quirky upcycled art pieces. The strict 70-mile radius rule ensures everything you see is truly local, from the organic kale to the hand-thrown pottery.
Whether you're a long-time local, simply bored with Chapel Hill, or a visiting scholar, the Durham Farmers' Market captures the essence of this dynamic city – a place where Southern charm meets progressive business tactics, and where community thrives amidst the bustle of commerce.“

“I love this ice cream shop. It is quaint, has all of the standard options, plus a wide variety of specialty flavors. I am always a fan of peach. They also offer dairy free flavors, milkshakes and more. I keep going back for more.
Dietary restrictions: Several vegan options. I love this place for friends who have a dairy allergy or are lactose intolerant.
Parking: It can be difficult to find a close spot depending upon the day and time you go. Additionally, whether or not parking is free depends upon the time. Later in the evening is free while weekdays require payment.“

“This bakery is truly a Durham delight. I had my first date with my partner here two years ago and we’ve been coming regularly with an amazing experience every time since. Their service is so good, the people are fun, talented bakers with warm and friendly vibes, and the atmosphere is so cozy. The food and pastries are always delicious and feel like a home cooked meal. Great for lunch or a small breakfast for sitting in or to go. Lovely bakery!“

“We received the best service from Mariah this Sat. It was a party of 25 guests, she serviced use with 100% customer service. the food was great and we were leaving a funeral which was a bad day for all, we left feeling a littler lighter, due to the our server. She is a GEM.“

“This burger place and brewery has tasty burgers, very interesting thin fries, and something I didn’t know I was missing: fried pickles! Simple but mind blowing really - this taste of fried, sliced, pickles. Besides the food I also really enjoyed the Bryant Bridge Gateway Ale! Service was friendly, and the vibe inside was great! Nice place for an after work pint!“

“This venue has a wide selection of ciders and beer on tap. It's very informal with some not quite new furniture and a selection of games. There's even an arcade room with pool table.
Live music on some Friday nights. The band we heard was good and played a variety of music, but they were very loud for my old ears, even though they were playing outdoors.
Try the Cardinal Cin (apple cinnamon) or blueberry lemon cider. Tasty!
Parking: We couldn't find parking on the street so we ended up in a parking garage at $2 an hour.
Kid-friendliness: There are some games to entertain the kids.“

“I can not recommend Linda’s Vegan Bakery enough! Every cake for every celebration has exceeded my expectations. Not only are her cakes beautiful but they taste as good as they look and people are always commenting they can’t believe it’s vegan. Ms Linda is so accommodating which is rare with Vegan bakers.“

“This was a "happy little accident"! We originally came over here for Guglhupf, and pulled into this parking lot, decided to go in, and we're more than pleasantly surprised! The food is flavorful, healthy, and I feel full-and clean- eating it! I had the Fresh Strawberry smoothie and Baked Oatmeal. The smoothie is so fresh- like it came from a garden! The Baked Oatmeal is just that! It's crunchy on top from being baked, it's slightly squishy in the middle with blueberries. I love oatmeal and this made my day! My fiance had French Toast and his face lit up! It has not lit up like that in YEARS!! Over the moon happy!!“

“I am gluten free and my husband had planned ahead and knew that Smallcakes did GF cupcakes. When we went to order on Door Dash it wasn't an option but we called and the sweet girl working was SO helpful. Excellent custom service! She made getting my birthday cupcake possible! :) She walked us through our options, instructed us to order and then call and she would make sure to do the right ones GF. There's an up-charge for the gluten free, like everywhere else, but she was able to just take the difference for us over the phone. Cupcakes were so delicious! Thank you cupcake girl! We'll be back!“
