This place is a true GEM to Durham! I celebrated my birthday here with a group of 17 people and from the initial conversation with the staff they were extremely efficient, professional and accommodating! Despite living in Durham for more than two decades, I only recently tried Nana's-and the food is in a league of its own. The chef is an absolute artist. Every detail is exceptional in both presentation and taste, starting with olive oil that transported me straight to the Mediterranean, followed by out-of-this-world appetizers and flawless main courses. I have dined at 3-Michelin-star restaurants around the world that simply do not compare to the experience I had at Nana's.

Nanas is a lovely property exuding warm supper club vibes with a modern twist. It enjoys a reputation as a first-class restaurant, delivering courteous, attentive service and fine cocktails. The impressive specialty cocktails and wine list showcase outstanding selections from the Piedmont section of Italy. Guests have raved about the amazing house-made rolls, which pair perfectly with dishes like scallops. The variation of the menu reflects true culinary skill, with appetizers such as the grits soufflé and chicken liver mousse continuing to impress. Dinner rolls are still described as melting in the mouth. Second courses, including ravioli, gnocchi, and squid ink pasta, are fantastic, with the vegetarian gnocchi receiving particular praise. The duck with rhubarb presentation remains gorgeous, and the trout special of the day has been noted as fantastic. The risotto is always top notch, and the chilled tomato soup special has left a lasting impression on guests. Desserts like chocolate mousse, hazelnut tiramisu, and chocolate soufflé with ice cream and chocolate sauce are a must-try. While the food is excellent, some guests have mentioned feeling rushed within the two-hour dining limit. However, the servers tastefully time each course, making sure guests do not feel hurried. Despite the cold temperature inside, Nanas provides an incredible dining experience with amazing food, attentive personal service from knowledgeable staff, and a lively atmosphere that is perfect for any occasion.
