100% best pastry shop in eastern NC. Definitely one of the top on the entire east coast! Not an exaggeration! These are real croissants… real pastries… You can’t get these types of European quality deserts just anywhere in the US. Shayda really knows what she’s doing and has worked hard to develop this talent. She’s a real artist 👏
I didn't think I cared for macarons, but my son does, so I signed up for a Too Good To Go macaron box shortly after we moved to Durham and we all tried them. Who knew! key lime, out of this world. now one of my favorite things. We then tried a pastry box and my sons enjoyed chocolate croissants and another flaky pastry we couldn't identify but which was delicious. Sweets by Shayda Cafe is a delightful bakery in Durham serving superb French patisserie and truly delicious treats. It is considered a great neighborhood addition and one of the top pastry shops on the entire east coast, offering real croissants and real pastries of European quality that are not easy to find. The shop provides not just cute, but delicious treats, with not one bite customers would not try over and over again. Popular items include the exquisite Princess Cake, delicious macarons, and delicious almond croissants. The raspberry macaroon cake is a favorite, and the carrot cake is incredibly delicious, surpassing the bounds of what carrot cake can be, and is the nicest-looking slice many have ever seen. Other items, like a pink ball dessert, are also pretty good, though some specific items might be an acquired taste. The ladies behind the counter are always kind, friendly, super nice, and helpful, explaining the items and what they are whipping up. The shop is exciting to visit, with beautiful presentation and packaging. It is a reliable go-to for birthday treats, graduation cakes, special occasions, and any holiday excuse, with exceptional service that is responsive, professional, and proactive. Customers love coming for a little treat, sometimes needing to stop themselves from visiting weekly, and highly recommend the bakery for its tasty, artistically made desserts.
