“Prepare for hit or miss service. Management should follow up on training effectiveness. Horrible experience in the Bar dining area. I dont want to list what this poor overworked guy didnt do. I love the atmosphere and western decor, but ultimately the food is why you show up at least for grabbing lunch, Update 02/05/24: ask for Andrew "Drew" great serviceParking: Parking is tricky and very limited. Thank Goodness they are located right beside a hotel that has abundant parking,“
“Idk why we waited so long to try this place. Best BBQ I've had around here. We had the special which wad a smoked bologna sandwich 10/10. We also had the brisket mac-n-cheese 10/10 and the smoked wings 10/10. Highly recommend if you have an urge for some delicious smoked “
“I visited Big J's for the first time the other day from an associate referral. I consider myself a food critic and I can say if you are a Fried Chicken lover they serve some of the "Best" fried chicken I have ever eaten. Better than "All" the "Big Chain" Chicken restaurants. My food was served Hot and Fresh. The service was welcoming and friendly it felt like home. The macaroni and cheese, plus potato salad I ordered for my sides were cooked and mixed to perfection. Most importantly the prices were affordable and reasonable.I assured them they had secured another customer and that I would definitely return.“
“Went here last weekend. The owner was very nice. She let us try the meat and the sauce. They have family meals and individual ones. We wanted to get some of each meat to share. She made the suggestion of buying half a pound of each. We picked baked beans and Fry's. Had a choice of hush puppies or buns. Had two large sweet teas. Less than $40 before I added the tip. We ate lunch. Had supper at home and had enough left to freeze for a meal later on. Covered seating out side. Can take it with you. Worth the trip from Leicester. Great food very friendly people. Glad we found it. Will be back. Ohh one sauce is sweet. The other I think they said was sweet with a little spice.“
“This place was the best value my family got while visiting Asheville. Not fancy but you can tell it's where the locals eat. Most importantly they took excellent care of my family. Really appreciated that as eating out with children can already be stressful.“
“I've been told about this place by many locals and I have to say... They were not wrong about the quality of product being presented, I had lunch with my food rep and he mentioned that this was his favorite kind of barbeque as well. (Texas/Kansas mix I believe) I had some burnt ends too which I somehow didn't get a picture of apparently, the customer service was as great as it gets, they were very knowledgeable and had a strong sense of pride backing their work/product. I will definitely be back! I'll review the brewery Attached later on, the brew-flight I had after my meal was phenomenal.“
“This was our first visit to Luella's, but it will certainly not be our last. We made the trip to Asheville to visit REI and decided to give Luella's a try since it was close by, and it turned out to be a great choice. The food was great and the service was excellent. It was a 5 star visit in every way.“
“I had a lunch meeting with some friends and I have always frequented the original location on the river. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much easier the flow is at this location. Honestly, it is way better than the location the is in the River Arts District. They certainly get the food out much faster and the quality seems to be a bit higher. To be perfectly honest and fair, I have to say that I have been eating at 12 Bones since it was under original ownership and with all the original recipes, so I’m a bit critical of the Asheville location. This one feels much more in line with the service of the original. All of the barbecue and the sauces are the same as the original, it is the sides that have varied from the original recipes.“
“Black Bear BBQ catered my wedding in September and let’s just say every guest & family members were all completely blown away by every item on the menu. We had the fried chicken and pulled pork, best meats any of us have ever had and that fried chicken was some of the best in the world. The mushroom crostini (my favorite) and bruschetta were amazing. The mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, carrots & apples… those were some of the best sides I’ve ever put in my mouth. You can taste every ounce of love that is put into every bite of Black Bear BBQ. We had the mud pie, apple crumble and banana pudding for our dessert station and let’s just say…there were no leftovers! I cannot wait to make my way back to Asheville and revisit the place that made our wedding day so special and comforting. Thank y’all again for the amazing food and service. I recommend Black Bear BBQ to anyone who wants the best, freshest made with love home cooking in the world ♥️“
“This is both one of the most unique places in Western North Carolina to eat and also has awesome food at the very best prices. Over the years I have noticed the same staff who seem to be happy and generally appreciative of customers! This is a lot about the owners:)“
“All I can say is WOW!!! The new management they recently took over is flat out amazing!! They have REALLY good specials and the food is simply amazing!!! I definitely recommend coming here if you love barbecue and good food!!! The owner Nick took really good care of my friends and I and was truly appreciative of us giving him our business!! I would give this place 10 stars if I could!!!“
“We stopped here while on a Carolina Waterfall Tour. Even though it’s right on the side of the road the setting is lovely. The porch has about 10/12 rocking chairs and there are some picnic tables with umbrellas. The ice cream was good but they were out of two flavors. And enjoyable stop.“
“Lunch was fantastic at this little place on main today. The BBQ sandwiches, collard greens, baked beans, mac-n- cheese, and cornbread all are on point! We were pleasantly surprised! Very clean, well kept, inviting dining room. Little did I know when we left, I also left my purse. Upon our arrival at our destination, an hour and a half later, I realized it was missing. (Yes, it took me this long) I immediately knew where it was. I called Moe's, and Cody assured me that he and Meg had secured my purse and would be there when I returned to get it. I can not say enough how important it is to know there are still honest, trustworthy, and good people in this world. These two are certainly all of these things and were so very pleasant and nice as well. So, this business not only has great food but great people from what I can tell! I will be back! Thank you!“
“Their broasted chicken is so juicy and the flavor is delicious! Really great and super affordable take out to feed a family gathering of 6 for under $55! Pulled pork, 12 pieces of chicken, potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw and yummy hush puppies!“
“I’ll give a generous 4 stars. The atmosphere was great, the waitress was amazing. The food was ehh. I ordered the 20oz ribeye med rare and it came out absolutely blue lol. I’m not disappointed necessarily because I’d rather it be under cooked than over cooked (personal opinion). With that said, a steak place should know how to cook every single steak properly. Therefore one star lost lol.“
“We moved here from Texas, known for great BBQ. Dicky's serves great Texas style BBQ. Well-smoked meats and great sauce. Brisket is the best by far in Western North Carolina. It's not greasy. The optional sauce is tangy, not sugary sweet and not weird (honey mustard sauce on BBQ???). This place is informal and many people get take-out. Try it. You'll go back.10/26/2023 update: Had a late lunch here today. Some great improvements! Brisket and sides are MUCH better. Brisket chile us great new side dish. The decor has been refreshed. Possibly the best brisket in North Carolina. We really enjoyed our meals.Informal, counter service, clean. Try them.“
“If you love BBQ you MUST eat here! They are the best! I am a huge fan of their salads with a side of smoked chicken. And don't forget to treat yourself to an appetizer of fried green beans! Wow!! Delicious! You won't be disappointed with anything you get. They make sure of that. And the servers...awesome! Tip them well because they will take good care of you!“
“As a lover of all things food I do not think you can get a better lunch for $10 anywhere in America. service was lightning quick and the tacos were out of this world. really good meat, fresh cilantro and the fried pickles don't weigh you down. can't wait to try every single thing on the menu.“
