“We were recommended by Grant over at Buxton Seafood & because we spent $50 on seafood over there we got a free scoop at Chilly Hanks. I think they learned quickly it’s easy to spend 50 bucks on seafood and even easier to sell ice cream to tourists in July even without the coupon so we didn’t get another one when we went back to Buxton Seafood the next day but that’s okay because our experience at Chilly Hanks was amazing free scoop or not. My sister in law and I are both gluten free (she’s celiac and very sensitive!) so the “gluten free waffle cone” option seemed too good to be true and we had to try. Somewhere between Cinnamon Toast Crunch and a graham cracker, the cone was truly something special - even my not gluten free husband loved it - and we believe they are homemade! Even if you aren’t gluten free or dairy free (or have a peanut allergy - we noticed they were peanut free though they have other nuts as options for toppings and in their flavors!) you have to check out CH.”

“We just had some AMAZING food at HIP Gingerbread House…I mean sososo good. From the real deal wings to the Classico pizza to the specialty Milan grilled cheese to the homemade chocolate cannoli’s…fresh clean ingredients & people!!! “My husband and I have been waiting to see this place opened up again. Many years ago it was a local Italian place but closed and we missed. Now it is open, currently Wednesday thru Sunday lunch and dinner. We were there early and there weren’t many patrons. Seems to have a brisk takeout business. I will add pics of this place.
It seems very family friendly. When we left around 630 pm there were 5 tables with families eating.
The bar has 16 seats and I noticed three additional bar seats up against wall. Not sure if they would fit actually up at the bar.
I was very pleasantly surprised with menu offerings. The burrata and tomatoes and pesto appetizer was great. The margherita pizza was fantastic see pics.. my husband had the menu special scampi and truly enjoyed!
I had a specialty drink, limoncello gin fizz and gave it high marks!
I really enjoyed our visit and hope it’s still doing well next time we are in Hatteras.”

With a great selection of tasty tid -bits, outstanding personal service, and broad spectrum of coffee choice, The Dancing Turtle did not disappoint! An absolute pleasure to visit. As an added “wow” they have super awesome themed merchandise to scoop up. ….as a gift I nabbed a T-shirt for Tanya, of Tanya’s Turtle Project, an organization who is also dedicated to helping turtles (in Northern Virginia)!! This personable spot has now been entered into our “Must Stop” list every time we ride by! 🏍️”

“While at the OBX for our annual family vacation, we visited the CC for dinner. Always the best! The raw oysters were the best we ever had and the mignonette sauce excellent. Bring back the scallop puffs! See you next summer!”
