“Tried a sample of their offerings during a street fair and was waiting for them to open. Finally sat down with the full menu and absolutely loved it all! Three of us went together and got tastes from each other plates. It was all excellent - quality, taste, presentation - it was all there. Great beer and wine list and excellent dessert. We will most definitely be back.“

The atmosphere is wonderful... these mountains frame this farm so perfectly. The menu is delectable in its options and seasonal variability. I'm a 50 year, born here local... this is my 8th time enjoying eating here at The Silo at Horse Shoe Farm. So, this is not a one off, or a hastily performed review. I've partaken all the James Beard Asheville chefs for a while now...as well as any and all "new best thing restaurant" that comes to be. Nothing...I repeat, nothing in WNC compares to The Silo. You will not be disappointed. And if...if you are and you communicate it- they will make it right. You will have one of the best meals of your life.“

“Our monthly supper group, 8 of us, went to Newman’s at the Orchard Inn in Saluda tonight. We all agreed it was one of the best suppers we’ve had. It began when our waiter introduced himself - it was Chris, our favorite waiter from 131 Main - he has relocated! \n\nI had the grilled Caesar salad with white anchovies- delicious. \n\n2nd course was grilled shrimp w/ fried green tomato. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and tomato was delicious. \n\nEntree was Parmesan crusted swordfish- perfectly prepared. \n\nDessert was house made vanilla ice cream w/ a shot of expresso. Very nice ending. \n\nMy meal was paired with Madonna Riesling - my my, so good! \n\nI highly recommend Newman’s for fine dining. \n\nphoto is the view from our table. “My husband and I have been here several times for an event with a club. Today for the first time, we stopped by for lunch. We were not disappointed. The service was great. Our food was amazing. The entire experience was worth the drive out. If you haven't dined in, be sure you do. We will certainly be back.“

“The Beer Geek tour was very informative and a great value. If you have 3 hours and want to get a behind the scene experience of the beer making process every step of the way from water and grains and ending with finished product in packaging, this is the tour for you. The tour guide Mary did a great job explaining the process and answering questions. Additionally, all the employees we encoutered along the way were very friendly and showed great pride in their company and the immaculate Mills River facility!“

“We had a delicious and thoughtfully prepared meal ...Tumeric Chickpea Soup start followed by the perfect fall preparation of salmon with spaghetti squash and the juiciest, tastiest pork chop. Service was kind and attentive and atmosphere charming . We will be back“

“Small and quaint; clean and calm old school place, a house turned into a Tavern. The staff was friendly. We did not eat so cannot rate the food but what food was prepared smelled delicious, we had a soda from a can.
We were able to play pool without interruptions. The pool table is coin operated.“
