I experienced one of the most unique and flavorful meals at this nostalgic, high end diner! I had never eaten grits before, nor had I ever heard of Brûlée’d eggs (not even sure I spelled that correctly). This is a five-star restaurant in one of the few authentic, gracious small towns remaining in the American South. Admittedly, Asheville is a great city for food and drink, but Star Diner is worth the exceptionally scenic drive from Asheville. Had a delicious meal at the Star diner last night. Had heard good things through word of mouth, and wanted to try. Was not disappointed. They have a small dining room and bar, and a larger tented outdoor space with space heaters. Despite a cold rain falling, we were warm and dry. The food was excellent, and the waitress very knowledgeable about the menu items. We will definitely go back and highly recommend. Make a reservation!
