Japanese Restaurants in Rocky Mount

“I’ve been to Ichiban probably close to if not over 500 times since I was little, things like hibachi right in front of me don’t have the same magic that they did when I was a kid. Tonight, however, was different. We went for my nieces (adopted albeit lol) birthday party and had a party of 15 obviously splitting two cooktops. On our side we had 5 kids 6 and under… that was no problem at all for our cook Eric. He went above and beyond to not only prepare delicious food for the adults but to also make sure every kid was included (each getting to catch their own egg and throw it back). Eric embodied what I believe to be the epitome of a Benihana style chef his evening. Not only making delicious food but also making memories that will make another generation want to come back to Ichiban. I usually only come for the incredible service at the sushi bar but tonight I was reminded of the magic that can come from a flat top with a charismatic chef behind it.“
