Mayflower Seafood Restaurant is a regional chain of seafood restaurants that offers Calabash-style seafood, a popular preparation found along the North and South Carolina coasts. The restaurant is known for its fresh, high-quality seafood, including dishes like flounder, jumbo shrimp, and popcorn shrimp. Customers praise the restaurant's tasty and lightly battered fried seafood, as well as the house-made sauces, such as the tangy cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. The portions are generous, with the "regular" size being quite large, and there are options for senior-sized portions and a kids' menu for smaller appetites. Since the 1990s, many customers have considered it some of the best for fried fish and shrimp, often noting the quality and flavor. The restaurant welcomes large parties and offers both take-out and dine-in options, with reasonable prices and a comfortable atmosphere. Service is generally quick and attentive, although busy times can slow things down, and servers sometimes handle many tables at once. Overall, Mayflower Seafood Restaurant remains a popular place for those craving authentic Calabash-style seafood, with friendly staff and a welcoming environment.
