“I really enjoyed my visit here to the oldest Tavern in Nebraska! The food I had was simple but great! I had some Nebraska brewed beer and some chilli dogs and fries. The owner was there working and I had some great conversation with him. This is what really makes these places special! I tried the Bloody Mary and if you're a fan of this particular cocktail I'd suggest you give this one a try. It was right up there with the best of the best that I've had during my travels.“

“I said I wanted my steak rare. When it came out it looked like it had only just seen the fire. There was almost a wait, but patrons saw I was with grandparents and parents. They offered us their seat and I think it is not a stretch to say this is the kind of people you will meet.“

“I love Amigos, and this is a good one. Great staff. Great food. The guy who runs it works his butt off. One time, they forgot my no pico request. They fixed it and gave me a $5 coupon for it, which was pretty nice of them. They're genuinely nice people, and the food is always good. It is Amigos, after all.“

Ski’s Bar Bar & Grill • $

“Our day trip travels on memorial weekend found us in Columbus around lunch time on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We tried checking reviews on Yelp for Ski's Bar and Grill but couldn't locate any. We opted to try a BBQ place next door that had positive remarks but unfortunately (or maybe fortunately as it turned out) it was closed so we decided to try Ski's and add a review for the next set of vegabonds. It took a while for our eyes to adjust, my husband knocked over a box fan in the dim light, but it wasn't an attempt to hide the food. Our meals were both excellent as bar food goes. I eat gizzards any time they are on the menu and my husband orders his "goto" hamburger when food is being prepared on a grill. Neither one of us was disappointed. French fríes accompanied our selections and they were plentiful, although a few of mine were undercooked and cold inside. Restrooms were clean, parking was plentiful, food arrived quickly and we left with full stomachs. We are glad we took a chance on Ski's in Columbus.“

“Had a great lunch at Dusters unfortunately forgot pictures. I had the cheesesteak with blue cheese with a side salad and ranch. I ventured away from the jalopy wings or sandwich and was a little sad I did. I don’t get here often so the sandwich was a bit disappointing. The description sounded better than it tasted. It was solid but not great like I feel the jalopy wings or sandwich are. Definitely won’t venture from them next time. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Absolutely packed house on a Tuesday for lunch both dining room and bar area.“

“I visit restaurants (especially enjoy steak joints) regularly all over Nebraska as I travel for a living. The Husker House has THE BEST prime rib of any I've been to. This includes very high priced establishments in the larger metro areas. When you add the in the value/savings it's the best bang for the buck anywhere. For $32: 18 Oz. Prime rib bathed in au jue an prepared perfectly to order, large side salad (or soup), choice of potato, dinner roll and an additional side of spaghetti or vegetable. All portions are generous!“

“From MI here for work. Great service food was pretty good. Wait staff said they were know for their wings. I got the grilled chicken salad with 10 bone in wings and my husband got turkey Rueben. Wings had great taste but sauce was on only one side of the wing, my salad was pretty sad for $10. Very small portion! Turkey Rueben was good. I would go back but not for a salad.“

Gottberg Brew Pub Bar • $$
2804 13th St, Columbus

“I'm from Omaha and used to pricier dining--this was a great meal for the value! We spent $70 with 2 entrees, 2 cocktails, and 2 beers. Definitely well worth it! The sausage chili was good, nothing exceptional. The ribeye was a very interesting special and turned out great. Love the creativity! It was pretty fatty, so I cut off a few ounces, and was on the thinner side, but cooked perfectly and very juicy. The bruschetta topping was great as well. The Chambord kiss tasted amazing--but it seemed like they probably forgot the vodka! I had a lemon drop afterward and this was plenty strong to make up for it. Not pictured was the Red Rock beer we tried--this may be my new favorite beer! A copper colored wheat beer with a great flavor and after taste. Overall an excellent value. The atmosphere was busy, and on the nicer side for Columbus, yet very casual--you could wear anything and fit in. The service was good but it did take 50 minutes for our food to come out which was surprising. Definitely a good spot that I will be back to, I love the variety in the cocktail and special menus!“

“Home style cooking. The gravy was amazing. Steak was cooked just right. When I was there a homeless man came in. He told the lady he didn't have enough money, but he like coffee and an apple pie with ice cream on top. He only had $5.25 she said she cover the rest.“
