We made a reservation for 5 PM and came in town from Des Moines. We sat for about 15 minutes before our order was taken. At 6 PM we still had not received our appetizer - let alone our entrée. We explained that we had been waiting almost an hour, but had to leave to make it to a play on time . All they said was “OK“. We ended up eating fast-food to avoid being late for a play.
Unfortunately, the two experiences I’ve had with Fifth House were disappointing. I went with my friends for my birthday a couple months ago. The service was very slow. My meal had substitutions that I wasn’t informed of. No one refilled our water. I wanted to believe it was only because they recently opened and were getting their footing.

Showed up for our dinner reservation today, along with another couple, just to find out that they are now closed Sunday nights. This wasn’t posted anywhere online. The sign on the door said they are open until 9pm. Staff informed us that they don’t see our reservation either. We had the confirmation email. Perhaps just my perception, but they didn’t seem to care whatsoever. Won’t be back.
