Definitely go the route of ordering mainly off the front of the menu, this is the best way to fully experience the expertise and artistry Yoshitomo has to offer. “My wife and I were in town for the "Beyond Van Gogh" exhibit at the Mid-America Center. Afterward, we looked up restaurants near us and chose La Sierra because several reviews mentioned authentic cuisine. We were not misled. The menu is small and straight forward. Pick your fillings and choose it in either a gordita, burrito, quesadilla or on a plate. We both got selections as gorditas. My wife ordered: Asado De Puerco, Picadillo Verde and Picadillo Rojo. I ordered: Papas Con Carne, Papas Con Chorizo and Deshabrada. I also wound up getting a burrito with Machaca. All the meats were seasoned nicely and delicious. Both the verde and rojo salsas they brought out enhanced the food. The rojo does have a kick (same sauce as in the Desshbrada) but the heat didn't linger so eating it was enjoyable. The margarita I ordered was delicious, made with real lime juice. Some people might complain because it is regular sized, served in a glass roughly the size of a martini glass. It isn't a gigantic gimmick you find in a lot of American-Mexican restaurants. It hit the spot! The fruit empanadas were lovely, the crust similar to a sugar cookie with strawberry or apricot. We tried both and thought the apricot won by a hair. Its sweet flavor was slightly stronger than the strawberry. The service was excellent, both our server and the gentleman from the kitchen (maybe owner) who brought out food to the table were extremely friendly and a pleasure to speak with. We've marked La Sierra in our "must do again" list and when we care back in Omaha, we will be stopping in.“

“delish! wonderful pumpkin spice latte, chai, matcha, and golden milk. also big fan of the vegan pastries. only critique i’d give is not replacing my dads coffee which he strongly disliked, and charging him for an espresso shot which he asked for as a replacement. we spent a lot here in our short weekend in omaha so that service decision definitely disappointed us.“

“We love Dragon Wok! We first tried it 6 years ago and it’s been our favorite spot ever since. Even our 2 and 5 year old look forward to eating here—it’s always a hit with the whole family. The sesame chicken is hands-down one of our favorites—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the sauce is amazing. We always order the steamed pot stickers, crab Rangoon, and chicken egg rolls too. My husband recently discovered the jalapeño chicken and now he can’t stop ordering it—so flavorful and always cooked perfectly. We also love the broccoli beef, pepper beef, peanut butter chicken, lo mein… honestly, everything we’ve tried has been delicious. They also offer different spice levels which is awesome if you like a little kick. And the little things matter too—like the small crunchy ice in the drinks (so good!) and the hot tea they serve when you dine in. It’s very kid friendly as well. They give the kids a little toy dragon after their meal and they have little quarter candy and toy vending machines in the front. My girls have been collecting the little dragons they get for years now. We used to order delivery all the time, but even after moving out of their delivery zone, we still make the drive—it’s totally worth it. Definitely one of our favorite local spots!“

“I would like to thank Block 16 for helping my unintentional bulking phase that lasted for 2 years when I lived downtown. This unique spot was my go-to for lunch and dinner whenever I was feeling too lazy to cook at my apartment. Beware - If you follow them on social media the temptation to head over will overwhelm you as they post their new food creations throughout the week. Some of the food posts seem like they are concocted by a mad scientist, other limited time menu items are staples in the food world, but just done better. The common theme here is everything I have ever ordered is top notch. Block 16 is one of the more unique places to eat in Omaha, and anytime I have friends from out of town ask for a recommendation, I point them this direction as a downtown option. Block 16 isn't scared to bend the rules of what french fries should be topped with and they certainly don't worry about the logistics of stuffing a full entree into a sandwich. They are lovers of food and their menu that varies throughout the month reflects that. They have some staple items that are always available but there are new things to try out almost every time you go. The only thing I could give some criticism on is dining-in can be a little tough sometimes with their setup but this is more due to the popularity of the place and limited dining space. But let's be honest, you go here for the food, not the tables.“

Over the years, the outdoor seating area has transformed into a relaxing little corner that’s perfect for sitting back and enjoying your coffee. I’ve also used their Trade-A-Mug kiosk, which is such a fun touch.

They always have a great variety of syrups to choose from, so it’s easy to switch things up. I’ve tried several of their bakery treats over the years, too. One of my favorites was their cannoli, but the mini cinnamon rolls are always delicious as well.“
