“My wife and I were in town for the "Beyond Van Gogh" exhibit at the Mid-America Center. Afterward, we looked up restaurants near us and chose La Sierra because several reviews mentioned authentic cuisine. We were not misled. The menu is small and straight forward. Pick your fillings and choose it in either a gordita, burrito, quesadilla or on a plate. We both got selections as gorditas. My wife ordered: Asado De Puerco, Picadillo Verde and Picadillo Rojo. I ordered: Papas Con Carne, Papas Con Chorizo and Deshabrada. I also wound up getting a burrito with Machaca. All the meats were seasoned nicely and delicious. Both the verde and rojo salsas they brought out enhanced the food. The rojo does have a kick (same sauce as in the Desshbrada) but the heat didn't linger so eating it was enjoyable. The margarita I ordered was delicious, made with real lime juice. Some people might complain because it is regular sized, served in a glass roughly the size of a martini glass. It isn't a gigantic gimmick you find in a lot of American-Mexican restaurants. It hit the spot! The fruit empanadas were lovely, the crust similar to a sugar cookie with strawberry or apricot. We tried both and thought the apricot won by a hair. Its sweet flavor was slightly stronger than the strawberry. The service was excellent, both our server and the gentleman from the kitchen (maybe owner) who brought out food to the table were extremely friendly and a pleasure to speak with. We've marked La Sierra in our "must do again" list and when we care back in Omaha, we will be stopping in.“

“We love the margaritas. All made with fresh ingredients. The chef understands Celiac disease and is able to make my meals gluten free. I haven't had good luck finding Mexican restaurants that can make food that is safe for Celiac. Have eaten here many times without a problem.“

“Gotta give a shout out to the crew last night. This restaurant was amazing. 1st time trying it. They were so accommodating. We had a group of 16 people for graduation dinner. They worked so hard to seat us all together. They were such a friendly group. They let us all sit at the bar while we waited on our table. It was a wonderful experience dining here. I guess what I am saying is you don’t know what you’ve got until you can’t get it. So, for this loyal customer, I consider this the best Mexican food ever. “I've never been there. They say authentic. I have no idea what authentic Mexican food is. Anyway, I had soft shell taco and tastes like aby other as well as the quesadilla. I also chose to have potatoe stuffed taquitos or flautas. They were nice n hot and good.“

“My friends and I wanted to try out this restaurant. They were ready to close, but let us in with smiles on their faces and seemed excited to serve us.
The women who made our food for us and waited on us were super sweet. We didn't speak spanish, and they really spoke broken english. But we made it work. I have to say this is the best hispanic food I have ever had. I'm not sure if it is authentic. Mexican or some other ethnic food. We live right around the corner from them, and we'll definitely be ordering from them again.“

“Tried a new Mexican restaurant in omaha. Was a good experience. The atmosphere was very nice. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and was not busy. They are very generous with the chips and salsa and offer a very good cheese dip. The menu had a lot to offer and the portions were big. Most of our party took at least half of our meal home. The prices were reasonable for the portion size. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our server was very attentive and refilled our drinks often. Overall a good experience and would come back. If you are in west omaha and are looking for a meal, this is worth the try.“

“Hole in the wall, kind of dingy inside but the food was good and our server was great. The salsa they bring out is very spicy, even their milder salsa had some heat. I loved it but my poor gf didn't haha. Very authentic food, unfortunately their horchata has dairy in it so I couldn't try it“

“The carne asada and carnitas were spot on, however I was a bit disappointed. A typical Mexican restaurant will include lime wedges, radishes and sometimes jalapenos. Nothing. I later noticed these items on the menu for an additional cost, do you have to pay for them? I hope not. I was also not expecting canned cheese or jarred salsa with my chips. Usually a red salsa with cilantro and a creamy smooth cheese sauce is served. It was no different than what you get with nachos at a concession stand. Not the same as the South O location......“

“Best and most fresh Guac I've had in forever. The nachos were amazing and the owners were super sweet. We were able to sample the chamoy gummies and all the bloody Mary mixes. Ended up leaving with a few of each thing tested. Can't wait to go back!“
