“I'll start by saying that it was an unusual night. The evening after a late-March snowstorm. Raining cats and dogs. And to top it all off, the power went out for a bit while we were there. The food at Dantes is fantastic. First rate family style Italian, plus a lot of it is scratch made. I think all of the pasta on their menu is available handmade -- at least most of it -- for a small upcharge. It's well worth it. Highly recommended. They claim to use imported Italian tomatoes in their marinara. What does that mean, exactly? I don't know, but it's tasty. The waitstaff is friendly and engaged and they genuinely seem to love their jobs. That's a big plus. They took really good care of us. The portions are pretty epic. Only the teenagers managed to finish their meals. The rest of us took healthy boxes home. The only drawback I could see was that the regulars were pretty loud and kind of rude. The people at the table next to ours were chatting at the top of their lungs and swearing like sailors. They weren't even drinking! Also, they had two children in their party. I'd highly recommend Dantes. If you have children in your party and you don't want them exposed to loud cursing, I'd suggest mentioning that to the hostess. There did seem to be quieter areas of the restaurant than where we were seated.“

“The Woods Grille hosted my book launch party in their upstairs space and I would recommend it to anyone! Their hospitality was incredible, the food was delicious, and everyone wished the space was their own because of how well designed and decorated it is. “Great spot that my partner and I stumbled upon for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Their local tap selection was incredible with something for everyone. We got the sprouts for an appetizer which was delivered quickly in a large portion (we dug in too fast to take pictures) and my only gripe is that they were browned and crispy on the outside but hard / slightly undercooked on the inside. My partner got the meatball sandwich and said it was easily the best meatball sandwich he's ever had. I got the Patrick Henry which was also delicious. The service was lightning fast, my pizza came literally 5 min after ordering. With so many interesting menu items, we will be certainly be returning on our future trips home from New Hampshire.“

“Porter’s is under new ownership, so be sure to give it a fresh new try! We went on a Tuesday evening, about 1 week into their reopening. The restaurant was busy, and the atmosphere was approachable. We happened to be there on Karaoke night (whoops!) which made conversation a little distracting with all the entertainment. Everyone was having a good time, service was prompt and friendly, food was fresh and we had a great time! I recommend going if you’d like good pub fare. The menu had plenty of options without being overwhelming or limited. I thought the portions were generous for the price. Worth a visit!“

“We visited the new What the Pho in downtown Newmarket and it was wonderful! The atmosphere is cozy as it is located in an old mill building with cool vibes. The food is spectacular and the service was top notch! I had the Chili and Garlic Shrimp Appetizer that was off the chart good! My entrée was the Pho with Chicken and shrimp and the broth flavor is excellent with just enough kick to it. The owner of this restaurant (Chris) has a very successful Savannah Kitchen and they are continuing the quality with WTP. Do yourself a favor and make sure you come in and check it out!“

I've gotten 2 different pizzas and the chicken cordon blue (all different visits) and it was all over the top good! I'm currently eating leftover chicken Broccoli Alfredo pizza from there and its the best pizza I've ever had. They have really tasty drinks too. 10/10 recommend!“

Earth Eagle Brewings HOMEBREW SUPPLY (not pub) Brewery • $$
Barclay Square, 350 NH-108, Somersworth - 7.63 miles

“Found this little brewery walking around downtown Portsmouth on a rainy day. We had popped into several boutiques to kill time and stay dry, so it was nice to stumble upon a nice watering hole to change things up!My boyfriend and I both got a flight and between the two of us we tried most of the beer on tap. Reasonably priced (I think $12 for 4 beer samples). They had a little of everything and all had a good flavor, there wasn't one that we didn't like. My boyfriend's favorite was the New England Gangsta (IPA) and mine was a sour... I'm the worst and forgot the name but it was a very mild and enjoyable sour that didn't leave you smacking your lips.We didn't try the food, but it all looked good from what was coming out around us. They have a "dog" side of the menu and a "cow" side... I feel like I'd be team hot "dog" if I did get food as those were best looking of all the food coming out!It was a cozy little place with some bar, table and cozy couch/chair seating. Small and intimate. The lady working was super nice and friendly, and checked on us enough but not to the point of annoyance. Loved the service and atmosphere a lot. If I was a local I would definitely frequent this watering hole! So if you are local, not sure what you're doing still reading this review... get your butt off the couch and go quench your thirst here!“
